A very unique area. The religious platform is very cool. It’s a protected site, and viewed from a distance. It isn’t good or safe for swimming, but a beautiful spot to walk along the water and hike through the fields.

Great hike! Almost 2 miles in so about four miles round trip. Easy hike for children or seniors. Quiet, uncrowded. Lots of birds, especially where the creek meets the ocean (at end of trail). NO pets allowed. Definitely will go back! 🥰

Hidden gem. We walked all the way to the stream and we got to see whales breaching for about 15 minutes. Seeing all the history was amazing. Beautiful walk.

Parking lot is at end of a dirt road. Lots of history here, remnants of a few residences, legend has it one was the DR. who took care of the locals. Can still see some traces of the old dairy. Also burial sites throughout, be mindful and respectful if you venture off the trail. A few signs describing a few locations, but generally an easy to follow trail with easy beach access as well. Looks like camping is permitted though I just visited for the day. Very peaceful and scenic, not many people.

My favorite trail in Maui! It’s a short 3 mile loop trail along the beach and backside of what was a dairy farm. We were the only people there, so it was very peaceful. There are many burial sites so be extra respectful of the land. If you aren’t local, don’t climb or go past points stated on the plaques. It’s located right before the golf course when the road takes a sharp right. You will see a dirt road with a yellow gate. If you think you’re lost, keep going. Follow the dirt road down and there is an unmarked dirt parking lot along the beach. The trail is down another dirt road to your left.

Gorgeous sunrise this morning ~ we actually hiked down Waihe’e Beach, then back up and drove to the refuge (gate was locked prior to sunrise). Refuge and history is something to experience with all of your senses! Driftwood, volcanic rocks, calm waters, birds, solitude, and of course the sacred history of native Hawaiians...amazing. Stopped at the Ula Ula Cafe (food truck) after and enjoyed a delicious açaí bowl with locally grown fruit and macadamias. Will do this again.

Pretty much a locals only place. If you visit don't look like a tourist and don't leave anything in your vehicle. Otherwise, you are prey. The layers of broken window glass tells you all you need to know.

This is an easy, quiet flat trail near the coast. The area is somewhat remote, so you get a feel for the still & quiet mana of the land here. One half of the trail is open & follows the coast line while the other half is cover by the jungle canopy. It takes about an hour to do the full trail at a slow to moderate pace, so it's a perfect getaway for anyone seeking a gentle break in their day.

Special place in Wailuku - you can get a sense of what an older Maui felt like. Watch out for the dogs at the entrance and look for peacocks. Great views of the ocean and west Maui Mountains.

One of my favorite hikes so far. There was no one there when we went for a hike which was really nice. Some of the other hikes we’ve done there’s been a lot of people. Sometimes you just want to be alone with nature and that’s what I like this hike.

We also got to see some peacocks.

Great place to get away from it all. The beaches are picturesque and clean. This is a lesser used park so not quite so many people as more popular parks. I enjoyed a nice lunch on the beach only one other person passed me. Quite enjoyable afternoon.
