Sunshine Massage

After several years with a chronic upper back condition from too much time on a computer, I have been exploring several modalities of therapy - manual physical therapy, exercises galore, dry needling and even trigger point injections. I definitely have trigger points (basically knots that form in your muscles) as my main issue beginning in my neck and running down the left side of my body.

I was apprehensive about trying asian massage at first but quickly realized the therapists with real therapeutic training have amazing technique unmatched by most any traditional US service. They're usually not hesitant to use their body weight for deep tissue, whether by elbow, knee or even back walking. They use rails on the ceiling to hold onto for back walking to control the pressure.

Monica at Sunshine Massage is one of the best. After one of my sessions with her, I was pain free for an entire week, a result equivilant to the injections and without the drugs. Monica also understands English well and takes the time to listen and understand your needs. Even legitimate therapeutic asian establishments tend to be less prudish about draping. I think it's just cultural. Your glutes are just another muscle so if you're a bit bashful and prefer they remain draped, just say so. Monica is a trustworthy health professional.

My husband and I have been living in the Kennesaw area for 7 months and in this time we've paid for 12 couple's massages at 3 different massage parlors (Massage Now, Natural Healing Massage, and JoJo's Massage).

I've enjoyed most of the massages I've received (in case it's not obvious enough: I love getting massages and in my lifetime I've paid for close to 90 massages. :)

What Sunshine Massage does so great compared to other places in this area is that they cater to the whole body. In the other two places they only massage from the neck to the top of the ankles. I don't know why they will not touch my head and feet (these are two of the hardest-working parts of my body and they should not be neglected). At Sunshine massage my head and feet get plenty of TLC... and it's wonderful.

The Sunshine Massage business resides in what appears to be a vintage converted residence. That may be a turnoff for some, but I love the cozyness and the "homey" feel. Also, they are very courteous and friendly. More times than not they've accommodated us within an hour's notice!

I've received most massages from Monica and she is absolutely outstanding and she has strong hands. She is an awesome masseuse and I'm grateful for her healing hands (and feet).

Andy has given me two massages and he is wonderful. There's a sensitivity about him that he instinctually knows what areas need a little extra attention.

My husband has also been happy with all the massages here at Sunshine Massage and we will be coming back as often as we can. If you haven't been here, we recommend it to you. 😊

Monica was able to get me in the evening I needed, and wow am I thankful! Clean, COVID precautions followed perfectly and Monica is phenomenal!! I travel a lot and this is one of the best massages I have ever had, highly recommend.

I’m honestly still a little shocked. The whole experience was terrible. Thinking back, it really started with my initial call to set up an appointment. It’s always odd when you contact a business and greeted with a hello... and that’s it. I wasn’t sure if I dialed the right number at first. No biggie... set the appointment and moved on.

Once I arrived, instead of a nice calming scent, it was very musty. I decided then, I just wanted to do a quick 45 min massage, instead of an hour. Once that was discussed and agreed upon, she showed me back to a room where the door didn’t come close to shutting. Although uncomfortable, I needed some knots worked on, so continued. The entire “massage” was a lotion rub - no pressure what so ever. Then there were the 3 times she left to answer calls during my session. By the end I was really just ready to be done. 40 NOT 45 minutes later she was “finished”. And with the 3 interruptions it was more like 35 minutes.

On to pay... now she charges me for 1hr instead of the 45 we agreed to. After the experience thus far and the fact she over charged me, I elected not to tip. She went nuts!! She’s starts yelling at me - “no tip!? No tip!? TIP!” I explained she over charged me by $15 and basically tipped herself $15. The conversation ended by her waiving her hand in my face and walking to the back. I finished my transaction and left and she stared at me while I was driving away.

A tip is given to someone as a “reward” for their service. It is optional and at the customers discretion. Even though the service was bad, I would’ve tipped her if I wasn’t over charged. Her reaction topped off the bad experience and unprofessionalism.

What an experience. I actually make it a point to try to support local businesses, but unfortunately I will not be returning here and will not recommend to anyone.
