Hog Hammock Trail

Loved this trail! Went twice and now it’s a new favorite.

Shady, quiet. One time actually saw a hog rooting through the woods so the name is well-earned! 2.5 mile trail or 1 mile trail. A lovely mostly undiscovered gem off of Northlake

Pretty cool trails. You can walk or ride your bike. Also saw a bobcat and hogs

Nice trail. Well maintained. Short loop and longer loop easily accessible. Plenty of wildlife... and varied terrain/habitat. Dominant feature of trails is evidence of hogs digging and rooting everywhere, still beautiful and very enjoyable.

This is one of my favorite PBC trails. Grassy Waters is just so beautiful and it's hard to believe how much Florida has changed. This is how Florida should look. Hog Hammock trail is great whether you walk or bike. It's shady, woodsy, lush, twisting with signs of wildlife all around. It feeds into the promontory trail which is great also. They are both semi gravel roads and can be damp. There are wooden parts to take you over marshes. The bird sightings are insane, so many happy birds. We usually park here, ride these 2 trails then head to the Owahee and either ride the whole Owahee or part of it and the SWA trails. So many great trails surround this region.

Nice stroll with a good amount of trees providing shade to the paths. The boardwalks were closed for construction during our visit. I look forward to returning and seeing the rest this trail has to offer. Be sure to bring water and wear bug spray!

Well maintained trails and boardwalks. Both hog hammock and eagle trails = about 5 miles. Plenty of shaded benches for resting and looking out at the swamp too! I've been once after a significant rain and had to search for mud (found on the shortcut btw H5->H13).

Hog Hammock Trail is one of my favorite local hiking spots. It connects to other trails, so you can continue on if you want a longer hike. (These trails are also for cyclists, but you must walk your bike across the boardwalks.) The trees offer some protection from the sun, but I recommend sunscreen and a hat, especially if you're planning on hiking in the middle of the day. Bug spray is never a bad idea either. The ground is mostly level, so it's suitable for children who are old enough to walk for a while. There are no concessions, so bring your own water and snacks. It's a peaceful place for a picnic, and you'll find several tables near the parking lot. Parking and admission are both free. On our most recent hike, we were pleasantly surprised when a large doe crashed out of the woods and onto the path in front of us before running back into the bushes. We've also seen hawks, herons, ibis, squirrels, raccoons, skinks, and lizards.

Great trails and lots of wildlife to enjoy. Wish I had discovered this jewel before!

Beautiful walk with lots of wildlife. Just wish the bikers weren't blasting their music.

Really nice short walk. You feel much further away from the hustle and bustle than you actually are. Can be a bit muddy if it recently rained.

So well done. You can bike the trails...Not on the boardwalks( have to walk your bike). Short or long walk take your pick. Some what of a hidden entrance, easy to miss. Super clean. Can have wet sections in the rainy times.

Nice easy trail, it's a loop, you can't get lost. Plenty of shade. There are clean bathrooms at the start of the trail.

A beautiful nature trail for hiking or biking. I believe it’s about 2.8 miles long. Lots of wildlife to see. I rarely see it crowded, which is nice because you get all the peace and quiet to yourself. The trails look a bit torn up due to the wild hogs although I’ve never seen them. There is a lake and a dock to fish from or just to take in the beauty. If I lived nearby I would go get my morning exercise there everyday.

Nice secluded trail mostly shaded. 3 mile loop impossible to get lost on. Nice flat trail.
