Came here for the first time. I loved it. Probably one of the easiest hikes you will go on. I walked every trail they offered and it was right at 4miles. Took the pup with me (on a leash). For such a small area there is so much to see here. Ponds. Picnic areas. Creeks. Prairi field. Wildlife. They have done a great job and maintaining and marking the trails. Place is very clean and the history of the land is amazing!! Must see if you're in the area.

This was an excellent place to visit and learn some history. Loved the old homestead house. We took our two dogs and hiked the trails and they loved it. We had a great day and didn't see anyone else at all. Very peaceful and they have picnic tables and restrooms.

This place is beautiful. There are picnic areas with grills. I seen one that had fire wood for it. Nice quiet trails to walk. The house is well preserved. There are interpreters there most of the time to tell you about it and life back then. The office has a small museum in it and small gift shop. There are restrooms. Handicap accessible. Great place to bring the kiddos.

The Boone homestead was the most peaceful place I've been to in years. We stood on the nearly 200 year-old porch and listened to the insects and birds as the last summer breeze blew over us. It was so perfect a moment that we all forgot to take pictures and just shared the experience and beauty with each other.

The trail was superbly maintained and easy to walk but not wheelchair friendly.

One of the best hidden gems in the 417. A great place to learn about local history with some beautiful sites as well. A bit out of the way but a perfect afternoon getaway. Beautiful trails and interpretive site as well.

This Historic Site isn't far at all from Springfield, and has lots of great information about one of Missouri's lesser-known pioneers and statesmen. It's the last home of Nathan Boone and is a great example of prairie style construction. The park grounds also feature lots of walking trails, and two very old cemeteries with interpretive signage.

The tour guide provided very good detail on their lives and their house we saw. Just like reading a history book!

The attendant was cheerie, knowledgeable & helpful. The grounds & house are well maintained. It was cold & windy so we didn't walk any of the trails.
The cemeteries were a bonus. There are picnic areas, camp sites, restrooms. A place we'll worth your time!

Great walking history-good trails. Amazing historical events & stories. The slave's burial grounds show loving care from those who buried their loved ones.
Boone burial grounds appear very randomly laid out.

We took our Grandsons here today & it is a beautiful walk. The grounds are well kept!! There were about 4 cars there & we never saw anyone on trails. Very peaceful & interesting history!! We had a side by side double stroller & were able to take it everywhere we went!! Wish we would have brought a picnic!!

It was a great day trip for us. The men that were there knew the history very well and were so friendly. We bought a passport and plan on visiting all of the historic sights this summer. There is one big pavilion with a grill and a handful of picnic tables with small grills along the trail to the main home. The cemeteries were very interesting.

Signs at stops have QR codes that lead to short YouTube videos. I saved them for later and found them very informative and interesting. You can ask the site superintendent, Mike, questions. I did, and he had all the answers!

The videos can be found on YouTube under Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Select "Playlists", then "Missouri State Parks Interpretive Videos".

Amazing that several people could live in a house that size. Also amazing that 3 tornadoes took out the outbuildings, but not the house.

Be sure to read the large panel next to the parking lot for some history.

Easy trails on the property. Main trail from parking lot to the home is packed tiny gravel, so smooth enough for wheelchairs. Approximately 150 yards long. Another trail is a quiet walk through the woods.

Mama Loca's in Ash Grove on Main Street has interesting decor, good food, and friendly owners, and plenty of space.

Mike was a wonderful tour guide, even having a lot of knowledge about my family members who had lived on the homestead.

Beautiful, loved it! My husband I walked all 3 loops through varied terrain but all fairly easy - even the uphill sections. We'll be coming back soon for exercise & to enjoy the beauty & serenity.

Gorgeous place that is very peaceful to walk. It contains a lot of history and you can even see the house where Nathan Boone lived. It is a very scenic and quiet walk with many long paths and private tours are available.

Great place to hike. There are a few super old buildings; Nathan Boone's old home, and his barn. Even a graveyard. There's also a pond. The trails are all mown and there's a structure with tables and chairs and shade for picnics.

Gorgeous property. Cabin was locked when I went. Would have loved to have gotten inside. I hear they have a guided tour. I did not ask. Beautiful hiking trails. Great experience.

It was closed for the holiday. But since we weren't interested in going in the homestead, we just walked around. The slave cemetery was really sad. To think of them living and dying in bondage. Working from sun up to sun down every day of their lives without any benefit to themselves or their family while their owners became wealthy off their sweat.
