I got a very suspicious phone call last week claiming to be my insurance company(national insurance) and asking me to send in a photo of my driver's insurance and proof of residency or they were going to cancel my insurance. I figured it was a scam since those are a basic part of setting up any policy and I knew they had it so I hung up. I called today to let them know about the incident and infact this company that has been paid for my car insurance the last 7 months does not have this very basic info on file and if I had been in an accident it almost certainly would have disqualified my coverage. Obviously upset I asked to be transferred to a supervisor as this is a huge problem, they instead transferred me back to my original sales guy who said he did find my license in his files but they still need proof of residency. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 7 MONTHS AND WOULD HAVE BEEN SCREWED IF AN ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE. no one at this company sees this as an issue. Go somewhere that will actually maintain your account so you don't pay for insurance that will abandon you because of their incompetence in the event of an accident.
