It's amazing how you get the feeling of the historical presence of this place. Lots of rain before I got there, so a bit muddy but wonderful nonetheless. Was there for the reenactment of the battle. Shame they charged $8 to park and then get stuck in the mud. But they did have tractors pulling people out.

If you are in the area, you must stop and see the site of the only battle of the Revolutionary War fought on Vermont soil. You get to be right where the action occurred. However, if history is not your thing, the natural beauty is breathtaking.

Hubbardton Battlefield is a very nice historic site to visit in rural Vermont. Its location is very scenic, and there is a lot of history here to learn about. If you live or are on vacation in the area and history interests you this is definitely a good place to visit. And while your in the area you can visit the Zen Gardens.

Went to the 2018 reenactment, which was very cool. They had information via the museum and players. A camp for both sides. Momentos. Monument. Food. HOWEVER, this was ONLY for this event. Usually the museum is open, but there is just the open battle field. Call them for hours.

Nice battlefield park in a beautiful rural area with great views. There's an interpretive trail that meanders through fields and over ridges detailing the important rearguard actions by the American troops during the withdrawal back to Ticonderoga. This help set the stage for the turning point in the battle of Saratoga the next year. There is an interpretive center there as well that is open seasonally and usually on weekends. Well worth a quick detour to see the only battle fought in Vermont during the revolution!

Having recently visited all of the major American Revolution battle sights in New England and New York, I can safely say this was my favorite. While not the biggest, the walking trail is incredibly informative, and the signage can really give you a great understanding of how the battle unfolded. Also the gentleman working in the visitors center, I believe his name was Mark, was jusf incredible. You can tell he has a real passion for the job and we had a great talk about several topics.

Beautiful, peaceful, bucolic and historic. The welcome building is modern and contemporary. Plenty of parking. Nice walking trails with station markers giving great descriptions of the only Revolutionary war battle to take place on Vermont soil. Remarkably well preserved and maintained. The welcome building is open May through October, and tickets are required to hike the grounds during that time. Free the rest of the year. Great non-water activity when visiting Lake Bomaseen.

Visited this weekend and was very impressed. The gentleman at the desk was very helpful and informative - he knew his stuff and was very passionate about the history of the site. He gave my Dad and I a very thorough breakdown on the battle and how it happened. Site itself is unspoiled and in much the condition it was when battle was fought. For a history buff, or someone who wants to learn about the Revolution, this is a must see. The Vermont scenery and location are an added bonus. If you see it in tandem with Fort Ticonderoga and Saratoga it makes for a very informative weekend.
