The Velvet Café

I love places like this - a local dive. Cutlery doesn't match, the place needs a rehab, but the food is good, the service friendly and fast and the prices decent. The bathroom is clean - which implies that the kitchen is clean as well.

The pies and ice cream are great too.

Now, to my ratings - the atmosphere is either a one star or a five star - if you like places where locals hang out to eat, then this is a five - a tourist would rate this a one.

This'll be my go to place when I'm in the area.

The staff are very friendly. The food was very good. We had Turkey, Stuffing & Mac & Cheese with Crab Soup. . All was homemade and very good. We also had Fried Fish with a double order of Mac & Cheese. The portions were a good size and they prices were inexpensive. Please support our local small businesses.

Wonderful restaurant. Amazing food at low prices. You can get a cheeseburger and if meal for cheaper than you can get it at any fast food restaurant and it is fresh. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. You feel like your at home eating, the environment is very comforting.

Great server for our Thursday lunch there. The food was very good, and at an affordable price. We had the salad bar, and everything was fresh. We also had the “just enough” small sundae for $1.99. It is a unique little local place, with their ice cream up front right when you walk in. Good way to get patrons to have dessert as well!

Stopped in at lunch time. The food was terrific, the service was great and the whole restaurant was clean. Thanks to the staff for a great experience. It was our first time there and we will definitely be back.

I've only waited this long to review the cafe because I have not been reviewing for very long. We "my wife, kids and I and my extended family as well" love this restaurant. The only bad thing we've ever found out about this place which is on me is that we lived in waynesboro for 4 years before we went. Once we did and found out what we were missing out on we over the years have become regulars until COVID ofcourse. We do miss frequenting this establishment and visiting the wonderful people who work here and who live in our neighborhood and kids go to school with ours and who are our friends. We do however continue to enjoy the food here with their carry out option. There are not many restaurants that I have been to where I have never had a bad experience but this would be one for sure. If you live in the town of Waynesboro and you have never been I recommend that you give it a try and if you are just passing through and your looking for some good food stop in.

Today was my first time eating here and it was a great experience. I ordered the beef liver and onions, (which came with 2 sides) mashed potatoes w/ beef gravy and salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. The beef liver was very tender, and the real mashed potatoes were very flavorful. The only thing was I asked for gravy on all of it, but it was only on the potatoes, still everything was great. The waitress was very friendly and she was also extremely busy, thus, is why I didn't mention anything about the gravy on the meat. I will definitely go back again. The prices here are very reasonable, and you get good portion sizes. I left there full and satisfied.

I go and eat there a lot and their food is really awesome they got the best Steamers french fries whatever you want and then the top it off at the hot fudge sundae way to go velvet keep up the good work

Quiet little family style restaurant. We went for a late lunch, early dinner and I was happy to see I wasn't the only person in the restaurant lol. Our service was good she was very attentive to us and always had a smile.

5/5 would invest millions of euros, backed by my social republic. ( great food )

This may not be the fanciest place I've ever been to but never judge a book by its cover.
The food is absolutely great and the staff is very friendly and nice , the place has such a pleasant atmosphere, just a real feel good place to have lunch or dinner , I would recommend this place to anyone .

It was a group of 10 worked at the same place and now retired. We had lunch to catch up on our lives since we retired. Atmosphere was the same as always. Food was ok. Better than fast food. Everyone seemed pleased with their lunch selections.

Love the folks that take care of us when we stop in to get ice cream for the week at the house. Always friendly and the price for the the ice cream is on point. Thank you

We love the Velvet Cafe. My mom and friends go there all the time. Me and hubby go whenever we're in the area. And of course there's a few things that we really like when we go like the turkey dinner, the Tommy dogs platter, and on the weekdays you can get the pick 3 for 8.49 now since the price went up. You get to choose from a lot of different things. Cheaper than a value meal at fast food and better.

Love this place. I've tried a little of everything. Club sandwich, cod father, ham bean soup, steak salad. The fried green beans are awesome!!! My mom loves their Reubens. Ice cream too!
