Pap Pap's Smokehouse

What a surprise! We had to spend a couple days in the area and found this local BBQ restaurant. We love BBQ and visit every local one we find when out of town. I had surgery so my wife had to get takeout. She got the pork cornbread bowl and raved about it. I got the brisket sandwich. Let me tell ya, when you order brisket at any restaurant, this is what you hope to get! Not too fatty, but juicy and cooked to perfection! I can't remember the last time I had brisket this good. I tried 4 sauces and all were excellent, but my favorite was the jalapeno raspberry. Perfect blend of sweet and hot. We'll be back in September!

We ordered for an appreciation lunch for 20+ people and were greatly impressed! The food was amazing, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely be ordering again!

Pap pap’s smokehouse has some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had!! I’ve never had a bad meal here and I’ve been going here for quite a while!! You have to try the brisket and the pulled pork and the pork belly and the breakfast menu, I can go on and on about this place it’s so good!!! And best of all it’s ran by great people with big hearts that do a ton for the community thanks again Jody Martin for all you do!

Cannot say enough good things. Once you go there and try the food, then you will understand fully.

The Food:
Very tasty. The menu items are uniquely familiar and more importantly delicious. We ordered the brisket sandwich, brined pickle, brisket tacos, pulled pork sandwich, loaded baked potato w pulled chicken, cornbread bowl , cobblers for dessert, and watermelon ice tea. Each item was fantastic, with my favorite being the loaded baked potato side. Picking my favorite menu item was difficult because the brisket was perfect. The brisket was certainly the best I’ve ever been served.

We also were given to-go samples of all their different home made bbq sauces. Each bbq sauce variety had very well thought out complimentary flavor intentions.

After ordering some delicious watermelon ice tea, the staff graciously filled my tea up into a very nice “swell” style reusable metal water bottle which was then given to me free of charge.

The Place: Very friendly and generous environment. The staff working there went above and beyond. Staff member answered many questions about the menu. The staff member also described and explained all the different variety of bbq sauces.

i ordered Brisket, ribs and pulled chicken for my daughters birthday party. EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT. ..so full of flavors and smokeyness. Brisket was so tender, ribs were "fall off the bone" and scrumptious and the chicken was so flavorful. I also got the sandwich rolls..just like from the bakery. The owners are so friendly and accomodating. I asked for the bridket to be cut THIN for my husband....it was PERFECT!! EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! Great homemade BBQ sauces too...My family LOVED all the smokey goodness. If you see their Food Truck, stop and grab really GOOD FOOD. THANKS to PapPap's for making a birthday party a big success!

The bbq pork Mac n cheese is addictive and a must have always

I hardly ever write reviews but this place deserves a bit of my time.
My mother-in-law and I went for lunch last week. The indoor seating space is small but sufficient. The tables are actually picnic tables which is very unique and adds to the BBQ vibe. The staff was friendly and helpful. The owner, Jody, was also there and came to talk with us. He was incredibly friendly and kind and our conversation with him was enjoyable. He gave us suggestions from the menu because it was SO hard to decide. Everything on the menu looked amazing but we both decided to get the brisket melt. I have never had a more tender, juicy brisket! Amazing!! I also had his coleslaw and hot pepper cheese ball thing — both were excellent. Jody makes most (if not all) of his recipes and I can tell you, from my experience, he knows what he is doing. We tried several of his BBQ sauces and a smoked pickle (sounds odd but it was good!).
This place is a gem! They also have outdoor seating for warmer weather and even a little play set for kids. I live nearly an hour away but I will be going back soon and taking other family and friends along. Totally worth the drive for such a great experience!

Absolutely amazing. All around a great place with the food and people. I was in town for work, but would take the trip back just to eat there again.

Go…and go now! This place is amazing ! Great food and great people. We recently had breakfast and it was delicious. You definitely won’t leave hungry. Everything is homemade. I have eaten here several times and have never had a bad experience. Best barbecue around and the conversation you get is just as good. You will not find a better place in the valley. Try it you will not be disappointed.

Great food and amazing staff! Pap pap is awesome! We are getting our wedding catered through them! Their sweet tea, collard greens and jalapeño raspberry BBQ sauce are my favorites!

We ordered the Party Platters for my Dad's retirement party. The food was a hit! Everyone loved it, and they made it so easy. I submitted an online message asking for additional information and they responded within the hour with answers to all of my questions. Pick up was a breeze. The food was hot and ready, and they even helped carry it out to our vehicle! I definitely recommend them for any party.

Very nice owners. Great place and great food. I met a group of friends there this morning for a birthday breakfast. They also have yummy ice cream. I knew the food had to be good because my husband and his friends have breakfast there every Sunday. 👍

The best BBQ I have ever had! Plate licking good. So many amazing sauces. You can taste the freshness. I had the pulled pork and the best ribs I have ever had! He also sells to go frozen. If you aren't already on your way, just go!

My family came to pap paps smokehouse for breakfast and it was amazing! The brisket was the best I’ve had! We also tried the biscuits and gravy, sausage, pancakes, and eggs. Everything was great! The owner was very personable and our 11 month old even let him hold her (she is very picky about that!) we will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Checked out the newest location in Conneaut Lake. First time trying Pap Pap’s bbq and I just gotta say….dayyyyummmm!!! So delicious! Ate the bbq pulled pork sandwich (which was a huge sandwich) and their FRESH CUT fries. Plus side, you can grab yourself dessert while you’re there too. Their ice cream is so creamy and tastey! I ordered a blueberry cheesecake milkshake 🤤 I also had the pleasure of meeting Pap Pap in person. Thank you so much for the delicious bbq and conversation! Will be going back (many times) with rest of my family!

Best barbecue I've ever had this side of the Mason-Dixon. The ribs and brisket are tender and flavorful, the cherry barbecue sauce is unique and tasty, and the sides and desserts were great too. Excellent location and a laid-back atmosphere.

My husband and I got the smoked ribs, mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, and cornbread for dinner… everything was absolutely delicious!! Also got the chili and oh my goodness so yummy!!
We will definitely make this a staple in our home. Extremely satisfied with the food and service! 10/10 😃

Great food. Staff and the owner were pleasant and made us feel welcome. Gave the 2 year old sqeaky pig toys that made his day! Pulled pork sandwiches were huge and tasted awesome. The fries were fantastic!
