Stamford Town & City Clerk

I live in NC and needed several vital records from the Stamford, CT town clerk's office. This is a shout out to Shal Lake, Asst. Registrar. She was immediately helpful via email, quickly got birth and marriage certificates together for me, and helped resolve an issue with my immigrant grandparents' marriage certificate. In every email, she was friendly, efficient and provided excellent customer service. In an era when it can be hard to even reach a human vs. a bot, I really appreciated how good she is at her job! Thanks.

I had a wonderful experience with Shalinique this past week while getting my marriage license and certificate. She was extremely fast in getting back to us and very informative on everything we needed to get done prior to our appointment. We were also pressed on time, she went above and beyond to make the picking up process a breeze.

I needed to amend my birth certificate while living in Florida. Shalinique, the Assistant Registrar, was incredibly helpful. When I was missing documentation, she called me to let me know what was pending, and responded to all my emails in a timely manner. This isn't often what you expect with government, someone who is personable, friendly, and responsive. She made what could have been a very frustrating situation, simple and straightforward. I am very happy with my experience.

Shal was AMAZING! She was very responsive, helpful and had awesome energy. She helped me locate my birth certificate and get a copy sent out quickly. She is an absolute star and if I ever need anything in the future, I know exactly who to call. I had the best experience with Shal!

I am the owner of Advanced Surveying Company and have been working with this office for years when I was getting surveys in Stamford. This office, since a new Town Clerk, Lyda Ruifter, was appointed, has become very easy to work with.
No more denied requests for the fill size copy of maps from originals, when maps are bad quality (hard to read), immediate response on email request and very efficient help.

Normally, I dread dealing with any government offices… whether it be town clerk, city hall, DSS… you always get the run around or disconnected or simply feel as if the employees could care less about you! Yesterday, I went into the Town Clerk's office for a dog license. Everyone was so kind and friendly. I made a mistake on the application, and Shalinique Lake, the Assistant Registrar who had helped with the application, went above and beyond. She answered my email right away and fixed the problem immediately.

I worked with Shalinique Lake after not receiving my birth certificate almost two months after I had ordered it. Since I am living in Kansas and not knowing how to handle this, I went on line to order it and thought everything was good. Come to find out it was not a direct (or very good way) to handle this. After all my frustrations and worries about not having what I need in case something were to happen to me (since I had to deal with this when my husband passed in August and grandson in November) I did not want my daughter to have to figure out out of state things.

It was Shalinique who was able to calm me down and walk through this with me and get everything figured out and my birth certificate on its way.
