Filling Station Coffee I Johnson Drive

The service was quick and friendly. I got a plain latte and it tastes great! I only got a drink, but the food/bakery items looked incredible.

Filling Station on Johnson Drive has been a constant for me since they opened. While staff changes, a pandemic, and being bought by FairWave has changed the café a lot over the years, it continues to be a calm and unique atmosphere to meet for coffee or study. I've had many positive experiences with staff, and almost always received very good coffee and food. My only recent complaint is the pricing, but it's expected as prices go up everywhere.

It is very cozy when inside. The staff is friendly and professional. I had cappuccino coffee and butter croissant. Both cappuccino and croissant were exactly the way I like. The croissant is flaky outside, buttery layer delicately soft inside. I really miss it. The cappuccino coffee is just right.. traditional way. Superb! Everything there made my day. Thank you for good food and good service. I would go there frequently if I lived in the area.

6:30am - The sky was lightly crying on this dark Kansas City morning where visibility was minimal and awareness was maximized. Buildings were barely able to be seen through the oddly optimistic fog. If it wasn’t for the red and blue lights of an open sign dancing in the dark I may have driven past this unique “filling station” of sorts. I entered…

The old garage aesthetic was fitting and evident as you enter and observe colorful motorcycle gas tanks hung artistically along the welcoming wall. Industrial chic stylistic overtones in both furniture and accent choices emulsify into what is the Filling Station brandology. The aroma of the brew reeled me into the counter like a subservient sea bass on the hook. An overhead menu was clear and concise which made my choice for a Md Coffee and a Veggie Clutch Burrito an easy one.

After one sip of the coffee it was evident that it had some serious horsepower. Immensely flavorful with a dark cocoa finish that temporarily made my eye twitch…and 90% of the time that’s always a good thing. The Veggie Clutch came out fast and although Burritos are not visually stimulating I knew that it was gonna be something special at first gander. It had a crisp to it which seals it up so when you bite into it you don’t have to worry about it unraveling and sending hot cheddar down your sleeve. It was also served with a delicious salsa verde and hot sauce. Didn’t even have to ask:). My first bite was filled with so much perfection it caused me to whip out my iPhone and start looking on Zillow for homes in the area because I needed to be closer to this thing. Whoever rolled this burrito must be pretty good at rolling lots of things…

Cafes typically have a lot of transient customers but on this dim morning it seemed like everyone who walked in…just hung out like wet socks. It was truly a vibe inside. My photos were minimal as I opted not to blow my cover as the coolest reviewer this side of the equator but you’ll get the gist. This place is super cute! It’s full of plants and natural light, plus the baristas are super friendly! My barista added this adorable elephant latte art which was such a nice surprise 🥺 the croissant was crispy and flaky and the honey pistachio seasonal latte was creamy and delicious. 10/10 would bring all my girl friends here!

Yummy place. I ordered cold brew and a granola bar. The coffee is great and the granola bar was very tasty. It had good texture with a hint of sweetness. The cold brew is smooth and velvety with smidge of chocolate. I came here because of other reviews and I'm glad I did.

It's cozy and bigger inside. The staff were responsive and quick. And even though they weren't busy with customers at the time every single one of them was busy doing other things like cleaning, tidying, and restocking. Three of them greeted me while I was reading the menu. That's nice a nice touch.

This place is so good! Blink and you miss it. Super vibey inside and the staff are super nice. I got the fender blender blended coffee with ice cream. I got chocolate syrup and my mom got coconut. The coconut one tasted like a coconut cream pie. The pastries were really good too. Especially the toffee cookie! Definitely will come again.

This was a great way to start my day. The staff was helpful and friendly, their coffee was spot on & I will definitely be going back to try some of their other drinks. If you like a good cold brew coffee this should be your next destination spot!

Fantastic. This coffeeshop has a great atmosphere and is perfect for everything from working to simply enjoying a coffee. The employees are extremely helpful and always get my order right. Keep up the great work!!

This place is so cute! I love the garage look. The barista was so nice and kind. No gluten FREE food options other than granola (I don't need GF but my friend does) but he said they have gluten FRIENDLY options and are looking to add more GF options to their menu.

He said you can bring your own GF products and they can put their sandwhich ingredients on that.

This is just so cute I love it here. The big glass garage door windows are wonderfully open and bright.

Such a cute local coffee shop! I was in the area for just 1 day and I always look for local coffee shops. This place was a gem!! They have all the yummy coffee drinks and matcha. They also had a nice selection of breakfast sandwiches, yogurt parfait & overnight oats with coconut milk. I do unsweetened dairy free unfortunately all their dairy free had a little sugar. The 2 barista's were so kind and remade my drink. I had the overnight oats and they were delicious but a little sweet for me. I would suggest adding berries on top instead of the raisins and cranberries that are also too sweet. Cute little shop, go check them out!!

Awesome space, great coffee and great service. But not tons of tables. There's lots of bar/stool seating but probably not as ideal for meetings.

Super chill place with a very diverse menu that includes food, juices, and coffee. The two large garage doors that open up in to the main seating area is very nice and the entire space feels very open. There is a decent selection of merch and whole bean. They use Messenger coffee as well.

Absolutely the best latte I have had in a long time. We stumbled upon it on a Saturday afternoon, and were very pleased! I had a caramel latte, my husband had a shot of espresso. Both were excellent. The barista was nice and very attentive to if we were satisfied. Highly recommend.

I'm a wedding videographer always looking for fun places to edit and I love this filling station location! They've all got great coffee, but the feel of this one is unlike the others! I love it! Definitely check it out!

This Gem of a coffee shop might easily be overlooked by its rather playing appearance from the outside, because the location was once a gas station that is across the street from historic Shawnee Mission North High School.
And because of its location, don't be surprised that it is jam-packed with people. There is a reason for that: great coffee and food!
So this morning I had a regular cup of with cream and a chorizo breakfast burrito. That's all I needed, and I had a great start for my day.
I'll come up on the food and coffee further another reviews, but they get great ratings.
If there is a downside to The Filling Station, it is that its location doesn't allow for a lot of parking. There does seem to be extra parking in the back. But it is limited, and you can't park on Johnson Drive.
For me, this is a better place to be with friends than to be alone. It is possible for small groups to be here, or just share a quick bite with a friend or two. Enjoy!

This refurbished gas station is an adorable coffee shop. Situated in a quaint area, the shop serves amazing full bodied coffee. Serves varied hot and cold drinks along with breakfast items. Staff friendly. Support local!

Good coffee shop with live juices and I think it is part of messenger coffee as we found the stuff from messenger coffee like the almond croissants and other cookies

Love this little place. Plenty of other places to get coffee around, but I keep coming to this kitschy place. Seems to have a nice clientele, good, professional staff, great pastries, and nice coffee. Great prices, close parking. Always clean, and wifi seems legit.
