This message is being written from the perspective of a property owner, but I would imagine similar praise would be coming from me if I were a renter.
In addition to the routine work, like email, collecting deposits, collecting balance of payment due, etc., Crowley Associates Realty Inc., specifically Sherry Ternahan and Betsey Parrett, have on multiple occasions demonstrated why paying their commission is well worth it.
We are frequently being encouraged by our children and friends to use one of the online rental websites, like VRBO, Airbnb, instead of paying a rental commission; however….
Here are a couple of very specific instances where working with Sherry or Betsey at Crowley Real-estate has “paid off”.
1) We had an electrical problem in the fuse box requiring the attention of an electrician. I called a few local electrical companies and all of them could not be there for several days. I then called Sherry to see if she could recommend a company that she utilizes in her day to day business. She gave me a name and I called them referencing Sherry and Crowley Real-Estate and the electrician was at the house and solved the problem in less than 3 hours.
2) We rented to a repeat customer, and our neighbor told us that they have a dog in the house (we do NOT allow dogs). I called Sherry, and she took the time out of her day to go to the house and confirm that there was a dog present. This was in direct violation of the lease, and the renter was required to remove the dog immediately and pay for pest and flea cleaning.
3) The renting season was over and we were in Nags Head, NC, when we received a call from a friend who wanted stay at our cottage for a long weekend. We agreed, but the house was locked. I called Betsey at Crowley Real-Estate, and she volunteered to drop off one of their spare keys at the house for my friend to use.
These have been just a few specific examples from the summer of 2017 of how the services of Sherry and Betsey at Crowley Real-Estate have more than be worth the commission they charge for renting the house. There have been 10 times that many examples over the 20+ years we have been renting exclusively through Crowley Real-estate. Using Sherry and Betsey at Crowley Real-estate has almost converted our property into a source of passive income.

DO NOT believe everything you see. We rented 20 Anchor way in Dewey. The description said it was a 2 bedroom 1 with twin beds. This was not so, therefore, I did not have the correct linens. When I went to make the queen size bed, the mattress pad had smeared blood stains on it like someone tried to clean it. The rugs were stained and torn by the vacuum, the top of the microwave was duck tapped together and the press pad on the stove where you set the clock was pushed in (broken). There was food splatter on the wall and broken shades were rolled up on the screened in porch laying on a dirty floor. Lastly, there were mouse droppings in the cabinets. We called the comps and told them we could not stay there another night. Betsey was more than cooperative and helpful. She worked on a Sunday trying to find us a new place but could not. She did give us a full refund and we found a different place to stay but unfortunately it was still bad .DO NOT rent 50 Maryland Ave, Rehoboth either! It was really bad too! Here’s to hopi g next year will be better. God… I hope.

I have been renting from Crowley for over 7 years. Last three years Baroudy house, not finished during Covid but stayed with the $18500 rent anyway. Had a tiny stove and small refrigerator stuck in to get the large rent from me. House is lovely and I took care of it as I do my own home! Faith has been lovely but would not get on phone with me to discuss. I left an $18500 weekly rental last year with a verbal acceptance with my agent Faith to have same week, Granddaughter’s birthday week. Left with nasty interaction with Peggy because my recovering from Breast Cancer treatment “adopted daughter a little off her game" accidentally took Beach pass home. Neighbor complained about trash and all of a sudden they do not have my email address. I only found that I had no rental when I email and called them, said I received emails which I did not; then said I should have left $100 deposit when I left last year. Ugly phone call with Peggy, very rude and unprofessional. Never has any issue in touch with me before? Would not recommend to anyone.

We’ve been coming to Dewey beach for over 20 years now and have never had a worse experience than with Crowley!

We stayed at 21 McKinley, which looks great on the outside but that’s it. The place was filthy, the upstairs bathroom shower head is broke, the upstairs bath drain doesn’t work, refrigerator needs replaced, air conditioning doesn’t work and many other issues. Needs some major updates!

We tried to get Crowley to fix the issues and instead the guy replaced the downstairs shower head and told me to get lost when I stopped in and mentioned that he was not even in the right bathroom. Called the realtor and nothing was done about it.

Do yourself a favor and stick with Jack Lingo. Crowley cares more about the owners than your happiness.

If I could give negative stars I would. The associate we dealt with was very responsive when it came to our lease and taking our money, but couldn’t be bothered when we had issues with the property. The Owner was even less helpful when contacted and very rude in emails. I asked a few times for a phone call to discuss our issues, but both the owner and associate were too busy to call me. Attached are the photos of the furniture at the house, not to mention there were moldy clothes left in the washing machine for what could have been 4 weeks.
