Lighthouse Baptist Church

For today's Shepherd's Office Church Visit, we visited "The Lighthouse" located at 21265 John J. Willams Highway in Lewes.

There was a powerful vibe of warmth, friendliness, kindness and energy throughout the large congregation. They were all so welcoming.

It was great to meet Pastor Gary and his wife Joyce in person. He took some time out to talk with us and he was very encouraging. We met Patrick Joyce and Bill Panera. We also met Pastor Jim who led the Bible Study starting at 9:30 am. He taught us about the importance of bearing with one another within a Church group while also forgiving each other often as the group builds a Christian ministry or mission together. Times working together will get tough and challenging.

The service started at 10:30 AM.
Pastor Gary gave us a hopeful Easter message. He reminded us that each of us are an important part of God's plan. He also explained how the tomb of Jesus became a powerful message of hope.

He read Mark 16:1-8
What happens to your heart when all hope is lost? Pastor Gary encouraged us to breathe in and breathe out when going through pain, suffering, despairs, sadness, loneliness. While in the suffering part of our lives, we often question whether Jesus is with us in these hard times. Breathe in. Pause. Breathe out. Breathe in. Pause. Breathe out. Pastor Gary said that his Dad was on a ventilator for 3 weeks and that it was that important time for his Dad to finally breathe on his own. Pastor Gary stood by his Dad's hospital bed and slowly coached his Dad to.... Breathe in....pause.....Breathe out. His dad was reminded to take only one step at a time. Eventually he was able to breathe again without thinking about each and every breath.

Pastor spoke about how even Jesus cried out while he was trying to breathe in and breathe out....Jesus even asked... "why oh why have you forsaken me?"

Even though we go through times of intense pain, suffering, we can lean on the resurrection and the redemption parts of Jesus'. Pastor Gary encouraged us to wake up early, show up for each other, talk with others, sing together, share, serve, hope, obey. Don't lean on your own understanding but have faith in God's understanding. It is important to ask for forgiveness and to let Jesus know that He is wanted! Gather together often because when two or more are praying, Jesus is with us.

Troubled hearts should trust. Take a deep breath. Pray. Keep it simple.

This is our home away from home and the people here are our family. There are SO many kiddos and young families which is a great sign of a healthy, growing church. They use a great curriculum in the children’s church as well.

Excellent Pastor and Church group. Lessons in life explained through Biblical teachings. The kindness of the Church as a whole and love for one another can't be matched as seen through MY eyes. While searching for a local Church to attend & be directly involved with in their activities, the Lighthouse & Pastor Jim reached their HANDS OUT!!!
Now I attend Church Service, a Bible Study & Prayer Meeting weekly 😇 Plus sing for the "Praise & Worship TEAM".

We discovered this church during covid. Beautiful outside and worship, and Bible based messages and Sunday School... And most of all very warm loving people of all ages and ethnicities. 🕊🙏💛

Best church in my opinion. I go here about every week and the services are amazing and the pastors are great.

This church has touched my life in a deep and positive way. I highly reccomend if you seek the lords wisdom to visit and meet pastor Hayden.
