Wood Duck Inn

Great views. Great host. The location is easy to get to and on a quiet road. Our room was charming and had a bath with a roomy shower. Also in the room was a microwave, mini refrigerator and coffeemaker. We did not need a coffeemaker in the morning as our host provided hot coffee, juice and the Boston Globe outside our door and quietly slipped a note under the door to let us know it was there. I can only describe the Inn as magical. You need to see it to appreciate it.

Fantastic host. Wonderful place to stay. Don't miss walking through the conservation land trails directly behind the inn. My daughter was charmed to see the two white swans paddling and the next day the group of ducks in a row through one of the canals in the cranberry bog. Great access to beautiful beaches.

We absolutely LOVED it! The room was extremely clean and beautifully decorated. The owners are so hospitable and sweet. The breakfast was plentiful and truly delicious. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get away fr the weekend and just relax. This venue is a 'must do'!

I've stayed there over 20 times. Summers are phenomenal there. 4 mi walk around cranberry bog. Short walk to Kingman's Marina. Consummate innkeeper, had a Bloody Mary ready for me after a tough night.

The Wood Duck Inn is the best if you are looking for a great Cape experience. Innkeeper Phil could not be more accommodating.

Nice little place, lovely owner, great area, definitely a place to consider if you are staying around that area.

Cute little place. Clean rooms. Quaint. Interesting. Right across the road from my family. Convenient.

I was looking for a place to stay during my 2-week school in Buzzards Bay. I called to reserve a room at this inn. A guy named Phil on the phone asked in detail about the purpose of my visit, my dates (Me: AAA to BBB. Him: hold on.... what is it? Me: AAA to--- Him: Hold on, hold on. What is it now? Me: AAA---), he also asked if I saw his website, etc. Okay, weird, but okay. I told him.

And then he said, "I think you're trying to scam me!"

He demanded a check for half before he made a reservation. He won't take a credit card, because he doesn't know me, and credit cards bounce all the time. He doesn't do Venmo or PayPal.

He quizzed me aggressively about my school. I paused to look up the exact name of the facility. He took it to mean I didn't know what school I'll be at. Um, duh! It's my first time! Of course I don't know. I had told him earlier "the government is paying for the hotel," and he acted like he caught me in a lie when I offered my credit card and not a government check. "Last question, and if you don't get it right, I'll hang up. Is the school on the cape?" How should I know what's considered "on the cape" and what's not? He didn't hang up. Instead, he went on to berate and nitpick the inconsistencies in my story.

Aaaaaaanyway, between being accused of being a scammer, and getting a very fishy feeling about this Phil guy, I went elsewhere. It's a bummer, because my commute to school could have been 8 minutes from Wood Duck Inn. Plus, the place looks gorgeous in pictures. On the other hand, if the owner is that disrespectful and mistrustful on the phone, how creepy is he in person?
