I had a very professional, very positive experience renting a beach house through ReMax Rentals for a week in July, 2020. Our agent was Heather Knowles, and she managed a somewhat dicey change of plans (on our part) due to Covid-19. She managed to re-rent a second week we no longer wanted, thereby saving the one week vacation we did want with our extended clan.

Throughout the negotiations with the owner, Heather's communications to us were calm and professional. I was very glad to have her managing the situation.

The house was fantastic, but my main comment is that Heather and ReMax cemented our inclination to continue to rent through them for our annual gathering.

Our family had a wonderful time in Bethany Beach. Remax was so helpful and friendly. Can't wait to come back next year. 😀

I have left 3 messages over the time I have been in my rental. No return call! That's not how business should be handled!!

Honestly don’t know where to begin, parts of Remax have been decent to deal with but the rental manager Sharon Palmer has been one of the rudest professionals I have ever encountered. She speaks as if she is the “rental nazi” and talks down to tenants. I frankly have had to tell her numerous times not to speak down to me or my wife. It didn’t stop the abusive behaviors we had to endure over our lease period.

My opinion how she keeps any license in this industry is beyond me. Over our lease period she was out of the office more than she was ever there. If you called and had a question you might get an answer in 2 or 3 weeks if at all.

In June our AC was not operating properly, for 16 days we lived in temperatures near 90 degrees because “she forget to call in a service call again cause she was out for like 5 days. No offer to bring window units, no offer to assist in any way. Same month our dryer was hit with a power surge. Another 16 days to have it repaired even making me purchase the dryer cord.

Out of our lease we have over 60 days where the home was inhabitable neither the landlord or rental company did anything to assist us. On our final walk through we were told we were due our full amount of our deposit by the owners brother, which is who speaks for the owner now as we have been told the owner is sick. Then we were told he doesn’t even own the property anymore and then we were told he does. Nothing has made any sense and if your looking for any type of rental I would run far away for this location as long as they have Sharon Palmer running the show.

Point blank if zero stars was an option that is what they would receive #awfulservice #worstaround

Terrible experience. They had a property listed on vrbo. I clicked to rent and paid my deposit. The next day the agent calls and says either pay an additional $1200 in rent for the week or we will cancel. I told them I wasn’t paying that. They I received and email saying that since I cancelled (which I didn’t) I would need to have them sub lease it and if successful they would keep 20% of my rental fee!

I called back and asked to speak to the manager Heather. She was on the phone at the time so I asked her to call back. She hasn’t. Apparently she can’t be bothered to call back a customer her company tried to screw over.

Not a good experience. Told me to do everything through their app, but app did not work at all. Make sure you call to document any and all damage the day you arrive. I missed one broken bathroom door lock, and was told it was my responsibility that it was broken, because they had to assume the damage was done during my stay.

Heather the manager may be the rudest person I have ever interacted with in the vacation rental market. Constantly interrupting and talking over me instead of trying to make things right. There are a ton of other options for renting, save yourself the headaches and do not work with this ocmpany.

I booked a rental all fees included $934 Remax sent a contract for double and told me to pound sand. I got a discounted rate due to the COVID-19. I booked it and then the beach remove the restrictions and they tried to jack me on the rent see the attached photos. Home away wouldn’t help me either. Read the review for the other google result and you will the the same stories as mine

Return renters beware!!
My family and I booked a home with RE/MAX last summer (2021) for the week of July 4th. Because it is customary for vacation rental agencies to give the return tenant the right of first refusal for the same week the following summer, I reached out to RE/MAX to inquire about renting the same house for the same week for the following summer (2022). This first inquiry was in early September. I intentionally reached out early because I know rentals for the following summer fill up quickly. I was told by Greg that they will start taking reservations for the following summer in January 2022. I followed to verify that my family and I would be on the priority list for the house we rented for the same week, and in response Greg confirmed this fact.

I once again followed up in October to clarify that we would have the right of first refusal for that house and for the same week once rentals for 2022 opened. Given that we are a large group (18+ people) and that we were looking to rent for the busiest week of the summer (July 4th), I wanted to triple check that we were on the same page. Most houses of that size fill up by September/October, so we were nervous about having limited backup options come January if something were to happen with this house. Greg assured me that we "have the first right to rebook your same week."

Once January came, I called the RE/MAX office in the hopes of finally booking our house. I found out that RE/MAX had booked our house MONTHS ago for the week of July 4th. Greg had given me incorrect information when he told me they wouldn't start processing rentals for 2022 until January. He also gave me incorrect information when he told me we would have the right of first refusal. The realtor I spoke to had no idea that we were a return tenant and that we were promised to be first in line for our house. She said none of that information was in their system and that I had been given wrong information. After several phone calls back and forth, RE/MAX still could not provide us with any clarity on what went wrong. We told them that we had a guarantee in writing from Greg (see attachments) that the house would be on hold for us, but everybody just shrugged their shoulders and had nothing to say. They eventually got desperate (and probably worried about a bad review) and tried to make things better by offering us houses that were either way too small for our group or not even close to Rehoboth Beach. The damage was already done and the house was rented, so there was not much more we could do at that point. We moved onto a different rental agency and thankfully found another house that would fit all of us for our desired week.

Please beware of this company! Make sure you get everything in writing and follow up aggressively. Even then, you may be led astray. It seems that none of the realtors here are on the same page, and that there is no centralized system for organizing renter information. I would highly recommend trusting a different rental agency. My family and I have been going to Rehoboth Beach every summer for the last 20 years and RE/MAX is the first company to ever mess up so badly
