I'll use a quote from John Updike, which describes the University of New Mexico College of Nursing perfectly: It's a "farce, a melee of blunderers laboring to murky purpose under corrupt and platitudinous superiors.”

The BSN, MSN, and DNP instructors are circling in a holding pattern, waiting for retirement, and certainly not keeping up-to-date the latest research and clinical practices. There is no PhD program, at least, not one worth mentioning.

The previous dean was incompetent. The current dean is both incompetent and amoral, often displaying a complete disregard for university policies. For example, she has hired her former associates as faculty members at exorbitant, taxpayer-supported six-figure salaries. Several of these individuals have little or no university teaching or research experience. Instead, the current dean has bullied and coerced other faculty members into granting tenure for her associates, even though her associates fail to meet the college's own standards for academic promotion and tenure - a blatant display of the worst kind of cronyism at the public's expense, in one of the poorest states in the nation.

If you have no other options for obtaining your nursing degree, then you are stuck with this place and must try to make the best of it. If you are looking for employment at a nursing school, you should run away from this place, as fast as you can, toward any other place of employment. The UNM CON is a College of Last Resort for both prospective students and employees.
