DC Prep PCS Edgewood Elementary Campus

DC Prep is an excellent school. As a teacher at DC Prep you'll work in a professional learning community with some of the best teachers from around the country. I was personally impressed with the number of teachers who have earned degrees from Ivy League schools such as Harvard and Princeton. If you are a parent of a DC Prep student, I believe you'll witness your child grow beyond what they believe is their highest potential both socially and academically. DC Prep is a great place for students, parents, and teachers.

As a long-time member of the DC Prep community, I have come to value the safe, structured, and joyful environment that pervades the campus. Each of its campuses are nurturing places that place an equal focus on both challenging academics and in developing students that are good citizens in their school and community. As a parent, I really value DC Prep’s twin focus – I have seen each of my daughters grow in leaps and bounds academically, while developing their own personal character and integrity in the process.

As a teacher at DC Prep, I appreciate the collaboration that we have within our Early Childhood teaching teams. We are able to collaborate as a department, in order to meet the needs of all of our students, both academically and social-emotionally.
As a parent of Preppie, I am very grateful for the dedication of my child's teachers to ensure that she receives quality learning. All of her excellent and experienced teachers care for her, not only as a student, but also as a person. They push her to succeed in all she does.

Experience in the field of teaching for twenty-two years (22) and have a love for the field particularly to impart knowledge to the young minds of the future. As well as to mold and shape these young minds to become transformation and transparent futuristic leaders.

The best elementary campus in the district, and the Benning Elementary Campus follows suit! Highly recommended!

The school and staff are good..just the parking and the dead end street area makes bad

I couldn't write a better comment than one that I found on another website written by a DC Prep TEACHER! Every word is 100% accurate, and my exact sentiments of this Military Academy disguised as a Charter school.
June 23, 2014 This is an extremely high performing school for both students and staff. The issue is, nothing is fun. Say what you want about joyful movement breaks and silent cheers...but it's not fun. The curriculum needs to include more recess or free time for kids to actually interact with one another so they can practice the culture lessons from each morning meeting in a safe space. I do believe a lot of the early childhood expectations on behavior are developmentally inappropriate. This school does not lack passion, determination, kindness or grit. It just lacks common sense. Something is dead wrong with wanting a room full of first graders to be silent all day, even during lunch. Something is off about taking away recess from kids that are antsy from sitting with a bubble in their mouth for 4 hours. Those are exactly the kids that need the recess in order to turn their day around. As for the actual teachers, I think they all have good hearts but are just run to the ground by an extremely results driven, data enthusiastic administration that wants to hear no kids in the hallway and put a test score next to each kids face.

If a teacher feels this way about the policies and rules of this "school" imagine how the parents feel - how about the children/students....I have to say that I have truly had enough.
