I really liked this place and the friendly staff.
The ambiance: Very nice setting and decor…great for a date night, friends dinner and Conversation, or just a happy hour meet up.
Food: Very tasty and good portions. We had the Tlayuda which is Lamb Chorizo, eggplant, sweet potato, queso Oaxaca on top of a big tortilla (it was really good). We also had the Pollo Asado which was so delicious very well seasoned and cooked. Dessert we had churros with in-house made dipping sauces and three flavored sorbet- Guanabara, creamy coconut, and blood orange I believe. Soooo good.
Drinks: Great presentation and tasted just right. We tried the Too Early which was very good but more of a brunch drink for me. Also we had the hibiscus Margarita it was really goood, and I’m a Sage-Tarius also good.
Staff: Awesome service, very attentive, and on point with great recommendations on drinks and food choices. Ask for Iyana when you go there she was awesome.
Recommend: Definitely a must go. I will return for brunch.

Bittersweet night at Espita tonight—we popped in for a couple cocktails and dinner to find out they’re closing and this is the last night. They’ll be reopening as a different concept in late August. Thankfully we can still order Ghostburgers via delivery but we will miss this reliable and pleasurable neighborhood joint.

Had a fantastic experience here. Service gave us excellent recommendations on both the food and drinks. Mezcal Margarita was deliciously spicy and smoky.

Had the fluke tacos to share; highly recommended!

Also, the churros are 👌👌👌.

Would come back here any time, and will recommend to anyone looking for DC dinner recs.

In these tough covid times the responsibility of seating comes down even harder on the host/ess. Though this place was very busy, the host treated us with a warm professional manner, and we received exceptional service from her this Saturday.
The food is great quality, and the brunch is great value.
For dessert forget the churros and find someone to split both the rice crispy treat and the dulce de ledge ice cream - it’s an awesome combo.
Drinks are great too, their margaritas are made from mezcal which gives it this oakey flavor, very sophisticated beverage.
Also, very cool vibe. Reminds me a lot of Brooklyn NY. Could use some music too.

Very tasty brunch. Was able to walk in and get a table for 4 with no problem at noon on a saturday. Good brunch drink options, and a nice (but limited) menu that includes juevos rancheros, tacos, and a waffle with fried chicken. The guac with maryland crab was delicious and good to share as an app.

Definitely need to go back and try more of the menu. The bar service was top notch.

I had the Pollo Asado half chicken. A large portion, it was bigger than I needed but I ate it all anyway. It was perfectly cooked, very moist, not overcooked at all. The mole had kick to it.

I also tried the old fashioned and the Mayahuel. I would get both again but would ask to hold the bitters, it was overpowering the rest of the Old Fashioned.

Delicious food and cocktails! For the less adventurous culinary-wise, there's a burger menu too. Don't miss the vegetarian taco which is (IMO) the best taco on the menu.

I absolutely loved this place. I can tell you this is truly authentic modern Mexican food. I'm from Mexico city and I felt like I was at a restaurant there. Great selection of mezcal and the horchata is fantastic (be sure to order one / skip the rum). It gets busy so be sure to book at table in advance.

Stopped by after a late night in the office just missed the main menu cut off time also hadn't eaten all day! The bartender said try all the tacos on the late night menu if you don't like any of them I'll take care of it. Challenge excepted!! They were all delicious, traditional corn tortillas base with non traditional but exceptional flavors. I wasn't surprised I'd enjoy the chorizo and chicken but the eggplant wad also delicious!

I found the cocktails to be very good and strong. They won't disappoint! I was telecommuting so enjoyed dinner solo but I'd suggest this place as a social spot even a chill date night.

Fantastic food. Menus are simple and delicious, their ingredients are fresh, fries are seasoned and crunchy (you know you care about it) and damn, that Philly cheese steak. . . So good. They're open during the day, don't let the window tint fool you. Showing you a photo of what we ate, I promise it was pretty.

Haven’t had such good food in a long time! We basically had everything vegetarian from the menu. The red salsa was awesome as well as the cauliflower tacos and quesadillas. Not the standard Mexican food you can get at every chipotle but really good composed dishes with amazing tastes.
Although it is rather expensive I would come back at any time!

Great socially distanced brunch patio! Order online and tables are very spaces apart, so no concerns about exposure. Food is very good - items you can't find at other places but still great. Drinks are delicious and a great deal during brunch. Highly recommend.

$25+ brunch was a good experience (included app, entree, and dessert), drinks weren’t included but they were delicious. You order/pay everything through your phone, service is fast and friendly, and the interior is beautiful and spacious

Cauliflower Tacos; steam the cauliflower for a short period and you’ll have a winner.

Quesadilla; On Point and the Mole is superb!

Old fashion; Top Tier flavor and presentation.

Espita Sour; The height of my experience at 5:20 PM

Mezunta; Flavor forward. A finish you won’t expect. I think this is the best surprise for your date.

Mi Cherry Amore; The sweetest cocktail of them all.

The plus about Espita is you can over indulge or be modest…

Overall Espita is a must visit experience for Mexican in DC.

The food here is so freaking good. It’s by far one of my favorites. Also for folks with allergies, they have special menus for every allergy out there. As someone with a nut allergy, I love this. A bonus, this special menus are great. My only negative is they changed the menu and removed this one dish that was absolutely insane (I want to say it was the tamal) It had no meat- as I meat eater I was almost licking the plate. I really wish they’d bring that one back.

These guys and gals really have some attention to detail. Everything is well thought out, from the music, art, table settings, and the staff are wonderful. Then of course there is food. My wife and I had not been to the North America or Latin America in a while, so we were missing a taste of our culture. I told her that I will be having a Tres Leches (3 Milks) cake, while on our way to the restaurant, but to my amazement there was a Cinco Leches (5 Milks) cake—even better! We had a wide range of Mezcal to choose from and the staff were great to help me out with a desert for my wife’s birthday. Thank you so much! Also, amazingly our waiter was from my hometown of San Diego. Hola compadre, nos vemos pronto!

Chique upscale spot! Food was good. They have very stringent COVID restrictions, everything is done electronically for minimal contact with staff. Nice indoor and outdoor seating.

South Mexican and Mezcal. Now THAT was a great brunch with a great bunch of folks Sat. Nice collection of good to great quality Mezcal was fun to do flights with (cocktails too, give the Mayahuel or La Reconquista a spin). The French Toast w/ Smoked Agave Nectar & Mezcal-Infused Bananas was quite tasty too ;) Space is a nice mix of industrial meets art.
