Schneider's of Capitol Hill

We stopped in here because we were passing by and I was out of whiskey at home. For a small place, they have a great selection and the staff was really friendly and eager to help. Chuka was a delight to chat with and told us they do some tastings on Thursdays from 5 to 8 so we will definitely be back to check that out!

Great selection and even better staff. Pick anyone, and they're extremely knowledgeable on products. Richard B recommended to me a deliciously excellent Edradour 11 year old aged in a single oloroso sherry cask. Andrew recommended to me Edradour's younger 10 year old spirit (9 months after the previous Edradour purchase) aged all its years in a single madeira cask, which was nothing short of tremendous on first pour. In my honest opinion, Scheiders is the best liquor store in the district. I price compare and they typically carry the best price, the selection is specialized as well as all encompassing, and most importantly you have staff that know what they're doing. The only issue with the review is that it's capped at 5 stars.

Hands down the best selection and service in the DMV. They will take time to ask about your tastes and price range and walk around recommending bottles and explaining details that you would never otherwise know. It's always a learning experience and we always leave with an amazing bottle that I doubt could be found anywhere else in the region, and at a reasonable price.

Fantastic selection and super friendly staff. They have an impressive selection of scotch, ranging from independent bottlings to hard-to-find limited releases from the distilleries. The people there are very knowledgeable and seemed happy to talk about the different whisky expressions available. I am very glad I made the trip and will definitely be returning!

Not a regular but when I go the service and selection is excellent. I was concerned recently that staff would not know cider; but, of course the nice lady listened to me and directed me to a truly excellent bottle. Have also been for beer recommendations when in that neighborhood and I believe they hooked me up with a nice calvados a number of years ago. The selection is great, yes, but the staff is just gold --together this place is a great asset for person looking for something new or interesting.

I really love this place. Andrew is the absolute best. They also have a really great selection of items. I preferentially go out of my way to shop here to help keep them in business!

Coming from Texas, where they say everything is bigger, this place is smaller, but the magnitude of warmth of the customer service, and expertise can't be compared. Definitely always visiting when I'm in the city!

Don't miss a visit to this wonderful spot. Such a selection. We've picked up Blanton's black and Weller 12 as well as lots of other finds. Richard is fabulous, ask for him if you're a scotch or bourbon lover.

When I was told that this place was an "institution" in Capitol Hill, I had no idea what that could mean for a liquor store. Now, I do. 10/5 stars.

The staff were very nice. The prices were good and they have a great selection of liquor.

Every time I visit, I'm impressed by the choices and prices. The staff will talk you through any selection you need to make. They don't hype. Their prices are more than reasonable. I've often walked in with a bottle in mind and walked out with a different selection of better quality and/or better price. If Andrew is there, he is very knowledgeable, loves to teach and will guide you to the right choices.

Great selection, knowledge, and kindness. It's also nice that you can check the inventory online in case there is something you're looking for.

Great, friendly and available staff. Always stocking up the shelves and willing to assist. Small but full of good drink. They are knowledgeable and service is good. In and out.

I bought a 1982 Chateau Latour for my husband for Christmas on Vivino and it came from this shop. The bottle condition was stunning, and it thankfully drank just as beautifully. It is clear that this store takes great care of their products. Highly recommended!!!

Schneider's is the place to go for high end spirits and wines. If you are into beer, skip it. The Store is small with tight aisles packed to the ceiling. Though the selection is limited by the size of the store, it is highly curated. Every bottle is a good value, and many are absolute gems- be sure to ask if you are looking for something special and don't see it on the shelves.

Schneider's knowledgeable staff is what really sets it apart. Need a good bourben to gift to a co-worker but you don't know the spirit very well? Simply ask for a rec, and you'll get an honest informed reccomendation. They don't push products that are sitting stagnant on the shelves. You'll leave wth a special and often unique bottle.

I cannot say more good things about this place - great variety of liquor, friendly staff, amazing service. This is the ONLY liquor store I frequent. All other stores in DC does NOT have the brand of wine that I buy - this store has it along with many other hard to find items. Definitely worth visiting!

The staff was so friendly here! They made us laugh and feel at home even though we're not local. If we were, we definitely would be visiting this shop regularly for all of our boozy needs! :)
