Absolutely worth the wait. The pear and almond danish (pictured here with a big chomp taken out of it because I couldn’t resist) is flaky, buttery, not too sweet. The sfogliatelle is light and crisp, with subtly salted layers and a custardy citrus filling with a hint of cinnamon.

My new life mission is to try every single one of their beautiful pastries.

We tried 3 different croissants and all of them were amazing. We especially loved the “black sesame” one. We went there at 9am and there was a long line of people waiting outside but the croissants were worth the wait. Staff were friendly. We highly recommend it!

We made this our breakfast one morning while in DC. Great croissants and other baked goods! The bread layers were flaky and buttery in all of them. Fillings were just the right amount and full of flavor. We tried several items and enjoyed every one. We will be back whenever we spend time in DC.

Fortunate enough to experience their almond croissant before the temporary closure due to the maternity leave! (Sending you all the best wishes for healthy delivery 🙏)

Got here 5 mins before the opening time, and there still was people lining up!

I got an almond croissant, a pistachio croissant and a chocolate croissant (and I was exercising a tremendous amount of self-restraint!).

And the croissants! They have a great balance of flaky, buttery, chewy and sweet! Their croissants leave up to the great reviews, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be back on line tomorrow morning to taste these amazing croissants one last time until this place opens back up!

The BEST croissant EVER!!!
As much I love croissant, I am very picky about texture and flavor. Tried mamy famous croissant bakeries in NYC, Boston, and other cities but this place is the top notch!
Buttery but not soggy rather a bit crunch.
And those layers… please try!!👍🏼
Staffs are very friendly too💗

Totally celebrating this gem. Excellent Croissants in a humble little location that belies some of the best croissants I’ve ever had. Coffee was also good. The passion fruit croissant was surprisingly delightful. My expectations were not high and this place far surpassed them.

We were lucky to snatch the last two croissants (at 10:30am) and they were sooo delicious! Almond was just heavenly, and a perfect buttery classic croissant 🤤. Hope to try more varieties next time.

The pistachio croissant is so delicious and I think pretty unique to this place.

This place has one of the BEST chocolate croissants I’ve ever tasted. It’s so flaky and immaculate. ✨🥐

Before I got in, I checked google maps reviews, and majority of them was about how delicious the chocolate croissant was. So I had to try it! I also got a small cappuccino with skimmed milk. My total was close to $9.

I appreciated how clean and spacious the restroom was! Usually coffeeshop restrooms aren’t that clean.

I just wish the place was a little bigger to accommodate more customers. Because I waited a bit for one customer to leave so that I can use their table and work on my computer. But all in all, great atmosphere. 👍🏼

Shout out to Blaine & Sarah for being awesome baristas! Thank you for welcoming me with a great smile in the morning! ♥♥

I too read the review in the Post on 26 October 2023 (in case anyone is looking). I don’t get down to DC often, and needed to go scout the upcoming Marine Corps Marathon, and thought I’d include a stop at Nino’s in the bargain. And what good fortune had I ! I arrived just before 1000, expecting there to be nothing left. There were several people in line, and after I stepped in, another ten folk showed up. I got to the counter, and obviously the baker’s rack to the side of the display case was nearly empty. I asked for four items, and as luck would have it, got the remaining four, to the disappointment of the folks behind me. There were three or four women working the counter, all passionate about their work (refreshing) and despite the work (or maybe thanks to it) the banter was good natured and there were smiles and patience. I was able to snag two passion fruit croissants, one chocolate, and a sfogliatelle.
The buttery light flakiness of the croissants in this style of Proust took me back to my college days in Paris, transposed from Alabama, the pastries there changed my life for the better, and Nino’s Bakery produces items just as heavenly; so good for the palate they are also good for the soul. Praised be Nino’s for making a go of it in only three days/week. One would hope they see their way to open for five, if not six or seven, to give more of the world’s souls an opportunity to rejoice in partaking the treasures offered here. Yes, I highly recommend, and yes, this is worth repeat trips on the Metro with Nino’s as destination.

With 4.9 stars we had to try when in town. Nino's staff and pastries did not disappoint. Everything we tried was excellent. Everything croissant and parmesan fennel croissant were excellent. The pistachio chocolate, chocolate hazelnut, and blueberry (not in pic) were very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. So glad we tried!

Best croissants I’ve ever tasted. Simply just great. We stayed in DC for 3 days and ate Nino’s croissants for breakfast every morning, since they were so addictive. The coffee is the only thing that was just “fine” - everything else is great.

Best croissant, I ever had! The 40 minute wait was worth it.

After culinary school and 10 years in the industry, I can confidently say these were some of the best croissants I've ever had. Made in house, super flaky and light. I had the regular, I'm about to grab the hazelnut and a pistachio. My partner had the tirimisu. It was excellent.

Vigilante coffee is always welcome to see, especially when the batista is knowledge and the coffee was spot on.

I'm gonna have to make the trip into DC for the black sesame croissant very soon.

If you are in downtown Washington and want to pick up pastries, try Nino’s. We picked up some chocolate croissants and a pistachio croissant that was still slightly warm from the oven. Haha, so hungry we didn’t even take pictures…. today I has the pistachio croissant, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Light, flaky, and very generous in size.

Update on Nov 10 - my husband and I couldn’t stop thinking about the croissants we had yesterday, so he went back again today for more. We had the chocolate hazelnut, almond, and pistachio croissants. All, fantastic.

I just had a bite of the chocolate croissant and it changed my life. My cappuccino was very good too. After weeks wanting to try this place, I finally stopped by and I’m having a perfectly pleasant experience.

Updated with photo of a beautiful chocolate croissant. This place is so consistently good. I love it.

Just updated my review based on the prompt response and explanation from the bakery. I will definitely try to pre-order since the pastries are delicious. Thank you!

I waited in line for about 30 minutes and when I got to the counter, at about 930 am (an hour after opening), they ran out of mostly everything. It was my first time visiting and I drove in from Arlington. The few pastries I was able to buy were delicious so I understand why this place is so popular.

the croissants are fantastic!! the almond and chocolate croissants were the favorites, but all were great! the coffee was alright, but the croissants were wonderful. If we had gone here earlier in our trip, it would've been a place we went each morning

These croissants are truly life changing. I work just around the corner and find myself coming almost every morning for breakfast. The everything croissant is to die for. I love that they always have some new and interesting flavors to try. The pastries are perfectly flaky and crunchy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside with incredible fillings. It's just around the corner from another French pastry shop and Nino's just blows the competition away. My only criticism is that the coffee isn't great but I can be picky about coffee.
