Stunning gallery with monumental architecture that perfectly displays the artworks contained.
The abundance of space allows the art in all its forms to be presented sensitivity without being crowded despite the popularity of the gallery.
Everyone will be able to find something to their tastes amidst the paintings, sculptures, furniture, and artefacts on display.

If you're ever in Washington DC, this is a must-visit. It's free and you get to see some amazing quality art. The curators are very friendly and you can meet many of the artists who work there. There are so many pieces on display, I'd recommend setting aside at least four hours to explore. I also highly recommend the contemporary art in the east wing.

If you like art, this museum is a must see. Be sure to visit both buildings. There is a tunnel connecting the east building to the west building. We went on a weekday in February. There were plenty of people but not throngs.

What a beautiful museum. Because I only had limited time in Washington, D.C., I was unsure if I wanted to spend it at the National Gallery of Art. Once I stepped foot inside, I realized I needed more time than what I had. You could easily spend all day there and immerse yourself in the beauty and knowledge that surrounds you. As a backdrop to the art, the museum itself is breathtaking. We visited at Christmas time and the holiday displays were tasteful and gorgeous. I highly recommend visiting, even if you are not really an “art expert”. Everyone can walk away from here feeling fulfilled and knowing that you have spent your time wisely.

Exploring the art museum was like taking a fantastic trip through time and creativity! They had everything from timeless classics to cool modern pieces. The way they set everything up and explained each piece made the whole experience super enjoyable. If you love art, this place is a definite go-to for a fun and enriching time!

As someone who has only recently embraced being creative, being inside a building built on creativity is such a beautiful experience. The art displayed here is both moving and inspiring.

There are three parts, the West and East buildings, and the Sculpture Garden. The movie auditorium is in the East building and the wheelchair accessible entrance is in the West building. What is delightful is the concourse connecting the two buildings below ground. There you will see the cascading water from the water fountain above shown as a glass wall to make a work of art in its own right. A bookstore with some seating invites you to read and play. Walking past that is the large cafe area with many options for eating and drinking. The star-lit concourse with a moving sidewalk offers a respite before having to walk more to the next art installation. Please note that no walkers or wheelchairs are allowed on these moving sidewalks but there is a space besides them to accommodate for your walking assistance. In addition, there are elevators to accommodate such assistance. I noted many staircases so be prepared for that as well.

The movie was a French film, with English subtitles and the free registration for it was a breeze. The auditorium is grand in scale with plush seating. In case you want to see this film, check the gallery's website for more info and registration. I truly appreciate all this gallery has to offer and highly encourage you to do the same.

The National Gallery of Art in DC stuns with its artistic depth. From Da Vinci to O'Keeffe, the collection spans centuries and styles. Beyond the masterpieces, the architecture is a treat. The neoclassical West Building contrasts beautifully with the East Building's modern lines. The Sculpture Garden offers a serene escape with works by Rodin and Moore, plus a delightful cafe for refreshments. A must-visit for any art lover in DC. Also, there’s no charge

Really beautiful art gallery! Free admission. The East building primarily has contemporary art pieces while West building contains more ancient arts. The underground concourse that connects the 2 building is also pretty cool and has a large gift shop/cafeteria. The sculpture garden is also beautiful to visit (becomes and ice skating ring in the winter)

A superb art museum that rivals the best around the world and its FREE! A must if you’re visiting Washington DC with friendly helpful docents. The West building is classic art, the East is modern art and they are connected but a “starry” walkway with cafes scattered about & in both buildings. You can browse the art for hours or stop in for 15 min to get a quick art fix.

It was my first time at the NGA, and I loved it. I went on a Friday, and it wasn’t crowded at all. I only saw 1/4 of it, saving the rest for later visits!
I had lunch at Garden Cafe. It was a little pricey, but the food was excellent.
I can’t wait to visit again.

Amazing museum, tons of beautiful works by many famous artists. I loved the large collection of monet and van Goff. Also really enjoyed the sculpture section of the museum. Won't allow large bags and backpacks must be worn on front.

This gallery is massive with lots of different collections and exhibits. Maps are available and I highly recommend getting one and also checking out the website for highlights as not everything is on display at all times. Gallery was super cool to walk around with so many different pieces of artwork all from different time periods, a fantastic walk through time I highly recommend visiting!!

What a gorgeous museum. A beautiful building filled with masterpieces. I wasn't prepared to see so many stunning works of art. Definitely a must-see, we had a wonderful moment.

The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., is a remarkable place to visit, especially on a holiday like Thanksgiving when it's open without the need for reservations. Admission is free, which is a delightful bonus. The museum is split into two buildings: the West Building features classic paintings and sculptures, while the East Building is home to modern art. A highlight is the captivating indoor pathway linking these buildings, illuminated by thousands of lights. It's like walking through a tunnel of stars. The gallery houses impressive works, including two by Leonardo da Vinci and several by Vincent van Gogh. Additionally, there's a beautifully maintained garden that offers a peaceful retreat from the indoor exhibits. This blend of art and nature creates a truly enriching experience.
