Moxy Washington, DC Downtown

My flight was delayed by four hours traveling from Norfolk VA with a 9am appointment in DC. The delayed flight would have made me miss my appointment. I jumped in the car and drove up. I was a bit sweaty from the drive so I needed to freshen up. Well my hotel room wasn't ready but Kae the overnight auditor upgraded me to a different room to insure that I was able to rest a moment and freshen up. I am grateful for them.

I was at the rooftop bar, it was very nice. It is a great vibe, good atmosphere and music. Didn't care for the menu it's chips and dips and burritos kinda menu didn't take a photo of it but the drinks looked superb 👌🏾 I'm not a drinker but my friends were pleased. We started there a little before sunset and it was such a nice atmosphere we stayed to closing we did go to main floor lobby to check out their food we ordered some things but it was just frozen foods heated in a toaster oven 👎🏾 but the rooftop bar if you're in DC check it out

Some of the low rating reviews I've read on here were a bit ridiculous. If you're not into a quirky and artsy looking hotel that is Hostel-styled rooms and a bar for a check-in desk, this place is not for you. My husband and I personally love all those things: art, a bar and just some where cozy and safe to stay. This was our first staycation in DC since moving here from the West Coast. I really love art so upon checking in, that was the first thing I noticed. We were a bit early but we were lucky enough to still get a room without waiting. The front desk staff was awesome and sufficient.

The guy helping us out even told us ahead of time(though we were already aware) that the rooms are HOSTEL-STYLED, meaning they are smaller than most people are used to. Me and my husband didn't mind at all. The room had everything we needed for a short weekend stay: a bed, a bathroom, a mini fridge, a tv and a great view! The room also came with complimentary drink tokens at the bar and some chocolate. We appreciated the bar/check-in because it saved us the trouble of seeking out bars go out to. It was nice being able to hang out in the lobby and drink and play the available board games. I also appreciate the location and being able to walk to touristy spots. Overall, this hotel was my favorite part of our stay. It's definitely made for people in my age-range(30s) and younger. The only thing I didn't like was not being able to sit at the roof-top bar because it was too crowded. You definitely need a reservation. It's a shame because it looked beautiful up there!

I liked their attention to detail. VERY RELAXED ambiance. Cool and Hip. The decor was nice. I enjoyed playing foosball with my daughter. The check-in was at the bar, and we were given complementary drink tokens. The staff was very friendly and the manager was very attentive, he gave a pink flower to my wife on Mother's Day!!!

The staff at the Moxy DC are fantastic! Great hospitality, warm greetings, and thoughtful service. Special shout-out to Ken for making me feel welcome and meeting all my requests with a smile. This is my favorite hotel in DC and for good reason. The rooms are very clean with nice views of downtown. Quick elevators, classy decor, and a great vibe throughout. I can’t wait to stay again the next time I’m in town!

I stayed here back in November, and I'm planning a trip to a different city but wanting to stay at Moxy because of this great experience I had at this Moxy location. The rooms were so clean, and the hallways and lobby smelt good! The service was impeccable, the staff is so friendly. Ken checked us in when we arrived, they were amazing and friendly. When I come back to DC I'll stay here again.

I stayed at the Moxy Wahington DC in April while in town for a conference. The check-in was the best check-in experience I have ever had (and I travel a lot for work). Ken and Jatarra absolutely made my day. They were friendly, fun, engaging but still professional and efficient. I really appreciate it!

My company also hosted a client party at Lucha Rosa, the rooftop of the Moxy. This was a great location. The staff was wonderful -very, very helpful. Always stepping in to help even when not asked. They were very attentive and professional with our clients.

Highly recommend this hotel.

Located a few blocks from the metro. A great place for a spring or summer stay. Within walking or uber to mid-town. Place has a bar in the lobby and rooftop. Very reasonably priced depending on the time of the month or holiday.

Modern, clean & laid back! The details in decoration were much appreciated. Stayed in a corner room and it was well worth it! Bathroom amenities & pillows could've been better, but it was an overall fun stay. Planning to return!

Our experience was absolutely amazing! I booked this fairly last minute and the attention to detail from the staff was outstanding. I called prior to arrival and asked if they could do anything special as we were traveling in for the USMC marathon and it happened to be my partner's birthday that weekend (and he is a veteran)! The reception staff went above and beyond - gave us a room upgrade, credit to the lobby bar, free drink tokens upon check-in, AND decorated our room with little balloons and water (they knew he was running the marathon and didn't want champagne, but they did offer that as an option). Oh and they let us check-in way early because our flight came in hours before the official check-in time. Also the location is amazing and really nice lively environment.

We loved both of our experiences at The Moxy DC!! It's super casual and laid back with plenty of cool spaces to relax. The room was on the small side, but we just needed a safe place to sleep and shower.

The location is AMAZING! Very close to much that Washington DC has to offer.

Two free drink tokens, amazing service, the quick check-in process, and a rooftop bar on the 14th floor push this from a 4-star rating to 5-stars.

Honestly, wow! I visited last week and let me tell you I was blown away. The check in process was quick and efficient and they upgraded my room. On top of that, they also provide you with a drink token for one free drink at the bar. The room was clean, new, and had everything I needed. The bed had a little chocolate on top as well, the note excused the small room but honestly it didn’t really matter. The bed was comfortable, the space was nice, I had no complaints. I will say the restaurant next door is a little pricey but that has nothing to do with the hotel itself. I appreciated the complementary coffee, the drink, the upgrade, and the chocolate. It really is all in the small details. The next morning while waiting for my flight, I was also able to get some of the complimentary coffee and asked them to hold my bags. Then I relaxed in the lounge and also went to the library space they had on the second or third floor. The hotel also has a rooftop I didn’t get to go however. The ambiance is relaxed, creative and open. I love the casual vibe, the location is great and the other patrons were nice as well. I will be returning next time I am in DC.

I haven't yet had the opportunity to stay at the Moxy Downtown, but rest assured that's exactly where I'll be staying for my next trip to DC! One of my very best friends in the world got engaged at this hotel this week, and she absolutely raved about her experience! More to the point (for purposes of this review), when I called the hotel to inquire about sending a congratulatory bottle of champagne to the happy bride and groom to be, the customer service I received was absolutely top tier! Not only did they coordinate everything for me over the phone/email, but they also know their guests so well that instead of sending the bottle up to their room to wilt until they returned, they were able to spot them at one of the hotel's bar/restaurant venues and send it to them directly. And they included a customized personalized note from me to the happy couple that was just the cherry on top of the whole experience. Truly could not be more appreciative for their assistance in helping to mark such a happy day! Thanks again to the whole team on staff this evening, your efforts are sincerely appreciated and I can't wait to stay with you all the next time I'm in town!

The Moxy is great if you're flying solo. The rooms are really small, but they basically have what you need. If you're looking to be close to the convention center, this is your place.

This place is so Super Cute!! From the entrance to the Roof Top. If you don't stay overnight at least go buy and check out their rooftop! The food and drinks are amazing. The room was cozy & cute. It was located close to everything which was a big plus because we stayed 5 days. The staff were really nice and knowledgeable about dining options in the area as well. The breakfast menu was yummy.

First, the rooms are small, but the atmosphere and service is incredible! A bar right in the lobby at check-in - amazing! And they give you drink tokens upon checking in. The entire lobby opens to an outdoor seating/entertainment area on the street. Lots of games to use/play. The hotel invites people to have fun. Despite the small rooms, the hotel is central to everything and the manager makes sure you have what you need. You can also find rental scooters right on the street. We did get a separate room for our two kids and they slept on full-size bunks, which worked for the space. If you are traveling with a friend, know that there is zero bathroom privacy. With that said, the style and decor of the rooms and hotel is modern/hipster, which is really fun. This is NOT your standard, stale big chain hotel.

Great hotel, as long as you know what to expect. This is a very trendy place. Rooms are nice, but small, which was no problem for us. Great for solo travellers or young couples travelling for leisure, however I think business travellers or older generations would struggle here.

Clean, convenient, and aestheically appealing and modern. 10/10 would stay again. Easy parking situation to for those coming into the city--skip the pricey valet and go to City Park as recommended on their website. It is just a hop skip and a jump away from the hotel.

This hotel has a great vibe. For me, traveling alone, the room was just the right size and because I was there for work, I wasn’t there much. I laughingly told my husband we probably couldn’t go there together because it would feel a bit cramped- and we definitely wouldn’t want to go there with our kids or we would be running into each other all weekend. The noise level may not be good if you are a person who has sensory issues. The lobby is literally a party every night, which is what gives this hotel its vibe, but it isn’t for everyone. Mornings tend to be quieter and there’s free coffee (pretty good, too). Every shower has a waterfall shower head, which I’ve since learned is not the best for natural hair textures (my co-worker was not pleased), but I quite enjoyed the shower. I only had two problems. First the room was hot and I couldn’t get it to cool off. Second (this happened the morning I was going to check out) no hot water my last morning there. Not sure what happened (maybe it was too close to my check out time). Overall, this hotel has a great atmosphere, but know what you are walking into- it isn’t for everyone.

Such a fabulous hotel! I still can't get over how adorable all the decor was. If you want to meet people while visiting, this is the perfect place to stay. The lobby has so many games and comfy seating areas, perfect for socializing and passing time between plans. The hotel is very conveniently located for anything you want to do in DC. The staff was lovely and helpful. Top-tier customer service! Special thanks to Jonathan for making sure we had everything we needed. He gave us so many good recommendations for places to check out while we were visiting. Also wanted to shout out Tierra and Ralph for being so friendly and making sure we enjoyed ourselves while hanging out at the hotel bar. I highly recommend staying in one of the corner rooms if you want a gorgeous view of the city. I loved the automatic curtains! Our room came equipped with blackout curtains which were absolutely vital for blocking out the amazing natural light after a crazy night on the town. I can't wait to come back when the rooftop is open this summer. I will 100% be back again!
