The Shire Bar & Bistro

Dropped in for Dinner. We ordered Manny's pale ale and Lowit Grimlock Porter which as it turned out was a bit of hopps at the finish. We ordered a House Salad which came with a nice surprise garlic bread, and the Prawns scallops and rice with red and orange carrots. All tasted yummy cooked just right but the rice was swimming in sauce or water from veggies. Not the end of the world as it didnt affect the taste but not what I expected for a plate of food. A bowl but not a plate. Service was spot on friendly and prompt.

Voodoo Shrimp and salad were amazing. Our cocktails were also well crafted. Our kids were pleased with their burgers. We’d definitely go back.

All the food from appetizers to dessert was on point. Extremely happy with our choices.

Old and a little dated interior. Food was a surprise, Very nice menu and prices. Excellent service and quality of food. Beer selections could have been better but drink menu strong.

Amazing food, super attentive service, great vibe! First time here. Met my sister for dinner. She had the curry special, and I had a catfish po boy. We shared the lobster dip, and I had creme brulee for dessert. All of it was delicious! I'll definitely visit again when I'm nearby and will recommend it to friends.

This place... everything about this place... is so amazing! I so much appreciate the creativity of the chef in his plating. He goes above and beyond. A dish that tastes good isn’t good enough for him; it has to look AMAZING before it leaves his kitchen. The staff is so attentive and makes you feel so cared for. The atmosphere is so relaxed. This place deserves your business. You will not regret it!

Wonderful food moderate priced, awesome atmosphere. The bar is a huge old wooden bar that has been there since 1903. Was originally a Olympia brewery annex. I had lobster crab dip for appetizer and shrimp with green beans and fingerling potatoes. Wife had cod. Delicious delicious.

Great atmosphere, amazing food. I ordered a medium steak, red potatoes with sautéed onion and mushrooms. Best dinner in ages.

This restaurant is deserving of its high rating. I was more than pleasantly surprised to find such a gem in the area. The food is expertly crafted with quality ingredients. Margaritas are made with fresh squeezed lime and 100% agave tequila. The service is engaging and helpful. It was a delightful dining experience all around.

We had our Christmas party there and it was perfect. The customer service was phenomenal. Not to mention, they got us set up on short notice when another place canceled on us. The food was amazing! I definitely recommend the shrimp appetizers they had! Thank you to the whole staff for taking care of us. I definitely will recommend this place!

Believe the 4.5 review. This gem tucked away on a side street is a delight. Nothing showy on the outside but one of the best back bars in the PNW. Great atmosphere with a meal to delight even the most hardened gourmand. Two unassuming gents with a great sense of humor provided a dining experience to remember. We came in at 4:00 in the afternoon on a Thursday... between lunch and dinner. He warned us about poor selection and service. With three little kids we were very concerned. However, even though they had three choices unavailable we each got something different (the two littles shared) and EVERYONE gave them a 10 out of 10. This hard-to-please family was thoroughly pleased. Great place.

Sam, Lacey and unfortunately I didn’t catch the cooks name but regardless all 3 were over the top amazing. This last Friday night my wife, our 4 year old and myself were out in the early evening to grab some dinner and do a quick grocery trip afterwards. All the usual places we’d stop at were over crowded and the wait times were ridiculous. Scrolled through maps and found this place and we are so glad we did! The food was unbelievably good, the service was fantastic and even the prices are great.
We’re telling everyone about this place. And we’ll be back soon.

Great staff good food quality and prices and drinks are made right

Absolutely wonderful food, we have gone in a few times now and cannot say enough about how delicious everything is! We popped in tonight for a birthday dinner. Service was quick, food was hot and mouthwatering! We had the prawn and scallop special which was beautifully cooked and the flavors that popped through were fantastic; the steak and Caesar sandwich which hit - he said it was the best steak sandwich he had ever had; and the chicken and crab savoy ohmigosh this dish does not disappoint - chicken was crisp on the outside and juicy and flavorful cutting through the crab and the sauce were so good!

The food was delicious and fresh. The bar/restaurant was old school and has all the original wood from the early 1900's. Lacy is fun to talk to and is great at what she does. Highly recommend and we look forward to returning.

So we are from out of town.Called to make sure they were open because of potential ice on the roads. Went in cool place inside. Food was surprisingly good because of the limited kitchen they have. Drinks were done yummy style and peeps are cool. When we come through again we will stop in again.

The wife & I stopped in Saturday 7/27 .We were happy to see Joel at the bar a very friendly cheery guy that happens to own the place .They have a real chief in Robert who seems like he's been there a long time .He is an artist & fun to watch in that small cooking area .We don't get in as often as we used to since moving to Olympia.Great food & much lower prices then up north.

My wife and I had a date night, and we were very excited to find the Shire was not packed. we love the selection of food, and the Martinis were perfect.
We will return for another date night in the future.

Wow! Don’t miss this place. The food was thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and the service was just right.
