Present Company Public House

Nice place with indoor and outdoor seating. Was able to get reservation for 8 on short notice. Good beer list for draft and canned. All of us were happy with the food: burgers were great, veggie burrito was good, appetizers and salads were all enjoyed. Trivia on Tuesday night and happy hour on Wednesday.

We’ve been hosting an annual event at Present Company for two years now and will continue to come back in the future! Planning the event has been a breeze every year with Lauren’s help. She is incredibly responsive and made sure all of the details were taken care of. The event itself was fantastic. The food was great and the staff made sure there was always enough of it. The bartender was also a pleasure. The location itself is also perfect for an event—the space was intimate and fun and all of our guests had a blast!

Aside from the delicious food, the kindness of the staff sets this place apart. Lauren took great care of us! Will definitely be back next time I'm in DC. Try the hot sauces!

I love coming here - great specials. I really enjoy their Ceasar Fries. Every time I go, I order something different. Always tasty menu choices. Friendly staff, very nice. Laid back pub atmosphere is great before or after a game, to wind down after work, or to relax after a visit to the portrait gallery.

We recently hosted an event at Present Company. The staff were beyond amazing! All our guests commented that the food was incredible and the best reception they had attended at this national conference. Lauren was extremely responsive to requests and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Present Compnay for any future events. The old firehouse has an amazing bar upstairs and down. The atmosphere and vibe in this location can't be found anywhere else.

My friend and I visited here twice in our weekend stay, unfortunately we arrived late in the night the first go so we didn’t get to try the food but our cocktail (The Fearless) was amazing! I’m a pretty picky person and Siobhan our bartender was very kind and tweaked it to my liking!

Night 2: We made it in time to try dinner! We ordered the crabby tots and a Cuban. Definitely the best we’ve ever had! It was out quick and YUMMY! Sunday night happy hour made it even better!!

We also wanted to shoutout Siobhan again for being such a kind person during our visit! We had an unfortunate personal experience(nothing to do with the bar at all!) while at the bar. Siobhan was very thoughtful and concerned. They made us feel safe and taken care of during the time we were there and even so kindly offered help if we needed anything after hours.

It was also a very calm environment. Not too noisy or crowded, just what we were looking for! We will most definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I stayed nearby so we literally had brunch, dinner and dessert (not all in the same day) but service was polite and speedy, wait staff checked in regularly to ensure everything was okay/refill drinks. Menu a bit smaller in selection however great quality and presentation. Really enjoyed the outdoor lighting and even inside had a cool relaxing vibe with music and comfortable seating. Would definitely come again- probably for dinner their burgers were our favorite and their drink specials looked awesome.

I cannot say enough amazing things about our experience here and with Lauren. We had a welcome reception the night before our wedding upstairs in the Dalmation room with about 40 attendees. Everything from beginning to end was handled wonderfully in terms of planning.

We wanted something simple and just wanted to create an atmosphere that would give us more time to bond with our guests. And they delivered! The room was set up perfectly with open spaces but also seating for those that needed to sit. The food was set up in the corner, allowing photos of the awesome mural in the background. The food was also AMAZING!! We heard so many compliments from folks - especially about the mini boa w/ bacon, nashville hot chicken sliders, and tuna tartar. My personal fave is the onion tip with the inhouse made chips.

We elected for an open bar with whatever guests wanted to order. I was worried this may be overwhelming to the bartender (not having any preset drinks for group this size) but he handled everything perfectly. I never waited for a drink and never saw anyone else waiting for a drink.

If you are planning an event, I recommend this place! Such a unique space with a team that really cares about their business, food and giving you the experience you want and deserve.

Present Company Public House hosted the rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks for our wedding in fall of 2023 and it was perfect! Lauren took care of us through the setup, paying attention to all the little details, and Chef cooked up a great menu. The vibes in the Dalmatian Room for dinner were great, and the first floor was perfect for welcome drinks of about 100 people. We highly recommend!

The Present Company is an outstanding restaurant for breakfast or lunch.
Lauren and her staff were exceptional with everything. They were very attentive and smiling during our visit.
The food was unbelievable, fresh, tasty and exquisitely served.
The bloody Mary’s and Mimosa’s were delicious and made superbly.

Rolled into town for a friend's wedding and had no idea what to expect. This place is an absolute gem. Eat ALL of the brussel sprouts. If you don't, you have failed at life. My husband demolished the sliders —not gluten free, so I had to abstain, but plenty of options for me. Great space, excellent bartenders, decor was cool with vintage firehouses on the wall, also somehow not too loud which is a nice relief in a big crowded space. Perfect spot for a rehearsal dinner or a wedding reception, highly recommend.

On september 29th 2023 we rented out the entire restaurant for our sons Friday night rehearsal dinner. My first comment is that everything was outstanding.
The food service and atmosphere were everything we had hoped for and more. The dinner was for 70 people and absolutely everyone raved about the food and service. After that we had another 70 people join us for welcome drinks and light fare. Again spectacular service and we were extremely lucky with the weather and were able to use their large outdoor seating area. We give a big shout out to the chef Lincoln and his staff as well as the event coordinator for the restaurant Lauren. They made this evening magical!

I don't have enough kind words to say about Present Company and the owners. For the last 2 years, I have brought a group here for a business dinner with my company and they never disappoint. From the best Caesar salad in the district to the 10/10 burger, it's just the perfect place. Lauren and her team are some of the very best and they always make us feel like family visiting for the holidays. If you are in DC, please make time to stop by Present Company!

A great neighborhood bar and restaurant. Trivia is fun and it’s a great bar to catch a game. Staff is super friendly and will always take care of you. Gets busy on the weekends, so just make sure to get a reservation. Great brunch deal as well!!

Present Company is one of those places where everyone knows your name and it can provide you that essential comfort food on both the good days and the not so good. Staff is amazing and personable. Can not recommend this place enough.

My partner and I went to opening night at Present Company Public House last night (Friday August 9th, 2019), and we enjoyed our food, drinks, and the employees we interacted with immensely! We shared the Nashville Hot Chicken Wings and the Steamed Bao Buns, and my partner had the Roseda Farms Steak Frites, a Peak IPA, a martini, and a cocktail called, "El Amor Prohibido," which I deeply hope is an Arrested Development reference.

The wings were fantastic, and probably my favorite dish of the night. We got seven in our order, which came with awesome dill ranch dipping sauce and shaved celery. We both loved them. They aren't too saucy, and they're just spicy enough. Seven is an awkward number to share, but I prefer that over getting six wings!

For our pair of Steamed Bao Buns, we tried one of each variety: bacon jam and BBQ jackfruit. Those were both delicious, and we were both very taken by the BBQ jackfruit. It becomes easier to forget about meat when substitutes are pulled off like that. No disrespect to the excellent bacon jam variety though!

We sat at a table where we got to see a lot of food pass by us, which was mostly torturous, because everything that came out of the kitchen looked great. I definitely plan to try the burger, the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich, the Lobster Half-Smoke Pups, and a number of other things I couldn't identify or can't remember.

My partner enjoyed both of her cocktails, but especially the El Amor Prohibido, and she was thrilled that there is another bar that serves Peak IPA. The steak was a great cut, and was perfectly medium rare, as it was ordered. I didn't get to try it, but I'm told it hit the spot fantastically. I did manage to steal a few of the accompanying tater tots, which I'd be happy to order an entire basket of if it becomes a side dish offering.

Our server, Hugh, was very nice, patient, and accommodating, despite how busy they were opening night. On the subject of opening night: you really would not have known it was their first night, based on how well everyone was operating, and how fast we received our food and drinks. Our water was constantly refilled, and it was surprisingly not as loud as I've come to expect from bars, which is a major major plus for me. The high ceilings must help with that...?

Excited to see how they settle in, and definitely looking forward to checking out the second level when it opens!
