Panguitch Gem Theater

My son and I recently watched Ghostbusters here and we LOVED the theatre, the picture, the sound, the atmosphere, and the staff were super friendly. We even bought some shirts to mark the occassion. HIGHLY recommend this awesome little theatre!

Upon visiting some National Parks, I came upon the truly magical find of GEM Theater. A single-screen movie theater with character to spare. Cozy classic theater? Check. Delicious homemade ice cream, fudge, brownies, AND tamales? Check. A dazzling display of precious rocks (some for sale, some not)? Check. A game room? Check. Friendly knowledgeable staff? Check. Truly wicked Dinosaur Skulls? CHECK! The diverse offerings help made my visit a genuinely remarkable experience. If you happen to find yourself in Utah, the GEM Theater is a must.

Love this place! Super friendly staff. Delicious flavors of ice cream. Haven't seen a movie there, but the theater looks nice. Modern seating with a historic feel. The game room is pretty sweet and the rock shop has all kinds of cool stuff. I'd highly recommend stopping by, even if it's just for the ice cream and smiles!

This place is great for family, friends and much more! Loved this place and the service, everyone was kind and welcoming. If your in town and don't know what to do I suggest going to the 3 to 5pm free shows of old cartoons. Me and my buddies had a great time here!

The Gem and its staff are amazing. It's not just a theater, but also a Mexican restaurant/ice cream shop/rock shop. We ordered tacos and burritos. While our food was being prepared we were encouraged to check out the rock shop upstairs. Not only were there rocks to admire/buy, but three life-sized dinosaur skulls (on loan from a museum).
The food was delicious, with large portions that were reasonably priced-- unlike the restaurants in Bryce Canyon City. The chef obviously has perfected Mexican cuisine. Our only regret was we didn't find this place until our last night in the area. Otherwise, we would have gone back and tried the rest of the menu.
Visit The Gem for food or entertainment. You won't be disappointed!

Old style movie theater. It's a one screen theater, so while they lack the ability to show multiple features it is perfect for the small town and they more than make up for it with their refreshments including ice cream, and dinner that will be bright to your seat! There are two levels.

The GEM is right! What a lovely spot, especially if you have dietary restrictions. They have gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options and they are all delicious! My carnitas tacos rivaled those I had in Mexico - no joke. Not only that, but there’s a theater, a rock museum, and fun games upstairs. Ready for some sweets after your delicious Mexican food? Look no further than the Gem again! They have homemade ice cream and even homemade cobblers and pies. If all that weren’t enough, the family of 8 who runs it is so incredibly kind, I felt like I was a guest in their home. Truly an amazing little piece of Americana in this cute little town. DO NOT MISS IT!

Old school movie theater with great food. Game room, dinosaur fossils, gems, and creamy ice cream. Glad we decided to catch a movie here.

Who would ever think that you could get vegan blue corn tamales in Panguitch! What a nice surprise! Cool old movie camera and dinosaur skulls on display! Recommended!

Great place. You can rent the theater on off hours and play your own movie. Great idea for a group activity or family reunion. Or just go see a reasonably priced movie. It's fun.

Checked out this tiny movie theater during our visit to Bryce Canyon NP. I paid $7.5 to watch Shang Chi, a movie i planed to watch anyway. The movie room is small and intimate feel. It’s definitely an unique experience for me.

We found this place as we were visiting some National Parks. This place has so much character that you won't find in the big theaters. Very friendly place too. You just can't go wrong going here. There was many unusual flavors of ice cream, some which was home made in house. The flavors I tried were very good. The tamales that I had were very yummy. And, of course, I had to try the hand dipped chocolate. I would highly suggest if you are in this area to make a stop here.

Cool little place. Didn’t eat here but ice cream was quality. Old time unique “shop” & theatre. Must see if you’re in the area.

Such a wonderful place! The family who runs it are the nicest people, the ice cream was delicious, and the popcorn is the best I've ever had a theater. The rock shop is super cool, and the old theater was great. I am so glad they were open today so we could experience this amazing place.

This place is GREAT!
We stopped in Panguitch on a whim looking for dessert after a long day of hiking, but what we got was a whole lot more. This place is part movie theater, part ice cream shop, part mexican joint, part dinosaur museum, part rock shop and so much more! They have something for everyone. The family that runs it was so friendly and welcoming. They made us feel right at home. We all had ice cream and it was probably the best ice cream I've ever had. My aunt even went back for a second bowl it was so good. If I'm ever in the area again this place will be my first stop! I'd highly recommend anyone reading this drops in, this place is a real GEM!

Don't miss this beautiful historic theater with high-class hospitality, excellent tamales, and amazing ice cream featuring truly original flavors. The atmosphere and ambience is authentically from the Golden Age of Hollywood but the AV is entitely modern. Arrive early so you have plenty of time to get ice cream and checkout the game room and geology museum upstairs.

Best of all everything is affordable. The Gem Theater is one of the few attractions in all of southern Utah where you won't have to pay tourism economy prices. It's not just the best night-life in Panguitch they are also open during the day. That way, even if you can't stay for a show, you can still get that ice cream! Also their restrooms are super-clean!

Did I mention the ice cream is amazing?!

We stumbled on Gem Theater and are so glad we did! The tamales were absolutely delicious and some of the best vegetarian food we had on our whole trip. The dark chocolate quinoa crunch bars are also incredible and shouldn't be missed! The kids loved the rockshop upstairs and the owner and his son were so friendly. Definitely do yourself a favor and stop by here in you find yourself in Panguitch.

This was our second time here. Loving this place. The theater is beautiful and very special.
