The entire staff here is amazing. Very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They are always kind and seem to have a solution for everything! I love the location for events at the convention center and heading south to take in all the sites! Close to the metro, and walkable to tons of great food. The hotel has been restored and has a smaller, more personal feel. I love having the bellman welcome us back or tell us to have a good day. We'll be back!

Very cool and unique old property. When I say "old" I don't mean that the property is not updated and modern, but the actual original buildings are over 100 years old and have that old charm. We stayed for 2 days, from New Year's Eve until January 2nd and were very pleased with our stay and pleasantness of the staff. If I had one qualm, it would be that the valet did not know how to drive a stick shift. Therefore, we had to park our own vehicle the first night. I would think when hiring a valet, one of the requirements for that position would be to have the ability and knowledge to drive all vehicles, not just automatic transmissions. Small qualm though, and still giving 5 stars because of how great our experience was. Thanks, guys n gals, we will definitely be back!

This was my second time working with Morrison Clark for our organization’s annual event. I couldn’t be more delighted with the exceptional experience they provided. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff there. They went above and beyond, their professionalism and attention to detail were second to none. Lavina and Janay were incredibly attentive to detail and made sure that every aspect of our event ran smoothly. They were always eager to assist to our needs with a smile. The hotel’s central location made it easily accessible, elegant lobby, warm receptionists, and amazing staff. The beautifully decorated conference room was not only spacious but also ambiance of sophistication and elegance. The hotel room was exceptionally clean and cozy. It’s within walking distance of restaurants, shops and parks. I wholeheartedly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a top-tier location to host your next gathering.

I had family visiting town and had them stay here. The room was really spacious and cleanly, they thoroughly enjoyed their stay. We ate at the restaurant one of the nights and the food was excellent, everything we ordered was well portioned and well prepared. The cost of the room per night is very reasonable and my family had zero complaints. The service at the hotel was top notch, very friendly. I’ll be back as a DC local just to eat at the restaurant again, highly recommend and this location off 11th St is very safe and walkable. Easy metro access as well.

Very kind staff, swift and speedy check-in / check-out experience. I spent 6 nights, booked two bedrooms and both (4th floor) were comfortable, clean and most importantly very quiet. The hotel is located in a perfect central position, just a few minutes walk from the nearest subway station. Highly recommended if you're visiting Washington DC!

A GEM: The comfort, class, and kindness far exceeded my hopes or any expectations of prior reviews. I booked a king sized room a week or so before a huge conference. There were 12 or so hotels within easy walking distance to the Washington DC Conference Center. Somehow, the Morrison-Clark seemed to be delightfully far enough from the 'loud big mega-hotels' for this magical time in early December when 'national cheerleading competitions' collide with 'professional conferences' and early season 'holiday parties'. I hoped to be able to return from a long day of conferences and have a quiet meal or even retire for room service. My family ran a hotel when I was young and this hotel felt familiar. But, with far more old world flair. The details:

Room:
King room (third floor) while I did not have a city view, the courtyard view was charming and delightful with climbing white camellias reaching stories above and fountains glimmering in the dangling pendant lights (not shining in the rooms, but downward)! The bed was very comfortable with the fluffy bedding that makes it truly feel like sleeping on a cloud.

Privacy/Security:
So easy to walk just around the corner from the conference center even after dark - plenty of tourists and all crosswalks had lights. A charming historic park right in front of the hotel is a buffer from the busy street which I never heard a peep from with my courtyard view (bonus). I never, not once, stood waiting for the elevator. I have always thought that the extra large hotels with the hotel key security for the elevator is less than meaningful when there are 8-10 people awaiting each elevator and 2-3 exiting with you on your floor.

Cleanliness:
Immaculate, truly, even with the ongoing rainy 2 days. The foyer and main elevator remained dry - this was a mystery to me.

Service:
This is an area that is difficult to describe. From our arrival (my college-age son and teenage son came along for one night to attend a football game), the gentlemen at the door were attentive and thoughtful. We were a modest crew, believe me. There was no chirping of walkie-talkies or shuffling us away. It was as if these two gentlemen had been waiting for us: "Hello. Welcome. How was your travel?" I am confident that even if we insisted on carrying our bags or finding our own parking, the reception would be the same. The front desk professionals were quick, kind, and warm.

Historic vs. New:
My room was on the newer side. My sons were on the historic side. I believe that many of the historic side are just as lovely as the newer side, if not with better views patio access. However, my sons were a last-minute booking, literally within a couple of hours. Their room was likely one not frequently used for guests. While all rooms in the hotel are single-bed rooms (king or queen), this room was a queen, and at hotels, this typically is a full/queen depending upon the size of the room. In this case, it was a full, and both my sons are over 6 feet tall. They have fought over covers before and were good sports about it, "It's better than your floor, Mom!" Frankly, the shower area was small, dark, and odd. But, clean! So, considering it was a 'cheer competition', 'early holiday', 'conference', and 'NFL' weekend, we were very lucky.

LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION: look at the map!

Extra:
Even after my sons checked out of their room and returned home, I stayed for 3 more nights. It is subtle and hard to describe, but I will try: When I left for the day, if I glanced over to the desk, a bright and kind face smiled back and asked me to have a good day. The gentlemen at the door opened the door and escorted me to the steps, standing not too close but ready to offer directions or a hand if needed. Upon return at the end of the day, the same greeting and smiles. This is not obtrusive. It was so subtle that felt like this was my home in DC with a full staff of caretakers. I called my husband and told him that Morrison-Clark has found the balance between quiet, personal attention, and privacy.

It's an opulent place with the late XIXth century vibes and renovated comfortable rooms. The staff is very helpful and respectful. The on-site restaurant offers decent dining experience, and you can even order the meals to the room. You can also find free coffee and tea on the first floor in the morning.

Stayed for a vacation and it was great! Staff was very nice and the rooms are cute and more importantly clean. They had hot chocolate and hot cider available in the lobby depending on the time of day.

This will be my top hotel to stay in Washington D.C.
the hotel rooms are just amazing, comfortable and very chic. My room had three windows with different views on the city. Staff were very friendly, kind and respectful. They even checked me in earlier than my official check in timing.

The cleaned the room everyday and responded to all my requests very rapidly and effectively. I truly loved this place and would definitely stay in it again when I come to visit Washington D.C. soon.

Hosted a consortium meeting at Morrison Clark. Inn is beautiful and well kept. Service and food during our meeting was wonderful. Would recommend hosting your next event there and would definitely host another event there in the future if back in D.C.

My wife and I visited DC over the weekend for my wife's birthday and had our first stay at the Morrison-Clark Historic Inn. It was a wonderful stay. The lobby, restaurant and guest room were lovely. The warm welcome by the staff, especially Janae, made the trip and my wife's birthday all the more special. We highly recommend the hotel and will be back !

I enjoyed my stay. But you should know that they do not have an iron in the room and the bed I had was not very big. I was by myself so it was no big deal. If you are over 6 feet, you will need to sleep in the fetal position.

The bathroom was so modern and clean. The water is extremely hot so, put your wrinkled clothes in the bathroom when you shower and that solved the problem of no iron.

The staff are very pleasant, courteous, and helpful!!

I give the MC Hotel 5 Stars. It is a true Hidden Gem of DC Hotels. The Doormen greet you with smiles, open the doors and pick up your bags curbside. All of the Staff and Managers are excellent and Customer Service is their number 1 priority. The food served in the Restaurant is top notch. I tried everything. I give top marks to the steak, salmon and the grilled veggies. The Bar Menu has lots of delicious choices and you can also order from the Restaurant Menu. The decor of the Hotel and the rooms reflects an Asian sensibility that is tasteful, elegant and relaxing. The color scheme used is just beautiful and the Asian art is gorgeous. The rooms have all the amenities you'd expect in a Hotel of this caliber. The bathroom includes a walk-in shower with a full pressure adjustable large needle head shower head. The Hotel is conveniently located in Downtown DC near the Convention Center, Excellent restaurants, Theatre, Train Station [catch the Monuments/Memorial Tours here], and Museums. I can't wait to visit DC and stay at the MC again!!

The rooms were really nice and the staff was great. It started as a Chinese church. The restaurant was really good. Definitely get the Cesar salad with shrimp or chicken. They also are proud of their chicken piccata. Walking distance from the National Mall with a library to work in and a small business center. The Morrison Special for breakfast is great. It was not outrageously expensive. Valet was $40 a day - we saw people dragging luggage so you could probably get cheaper parking. Definitely get the cheesecake.

Everything was good, rooms are clean and the service is good. Just, the room is too dark, not enough light. Just the room is too dark. Overall, I recommend it.

originally I picked this place for the price and the location, didn’t have high expectations with it being a “3 star” hotel but the actual star rating are much higher as was my experience, The inside of the building was very nice and easy to get around, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were nice and very large for the price with a comfortable bed and sleek bathroom, my only two complaints are firstly with the fitness room leaving very much to be desired, it’s like a closet with a few cardio machines, one bench and dumbbells going up to 50, but I can see how it would work for casuals, the other complaint was with the dining room staff, we went for breakfast which was good including the coffee, we waited along time on food which isn’t a big deal but waiting even longer for the check, when they finally brought the check it wasn’t even ours so again had to wait for along time for our actual check, after they finally brought that and took my card with it they charged it but never brought my card back and we eventually found it on the ground. anyway this has been long enough, I would stay here again and definitely enjoyed the experience.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Morrison Clarke Historic Hotel in Washington DC for New Year's, and had an excellent experience. Meaghan at the front desk was incredibly helpful and friendly, and set the tone for the rest of our stay. The entire staff was friendly and attentive, and the facility itself was spotless. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were top-notch. We were able to ring in the new year in style thanks to the great experience we had at this hotel. Overall, we would definitely give this hotel a five-star rating and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the DC area.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Not only was the bed clean and comfortable but the pillows were fantastic. The staff was all very helpful and friendly and the hotel bar was a nice place to grab a beer at the end of the day. I also really appreciated the bottled water and convenient location.
