I was in DC for a family event & didn't have time to get a haircut in my home town so I booked a cut with Alyssa! She did an Amazing job! I told her what I was looking for in a easy to care for cut! She took off about 4 inches & added some layers that I could easily manage & style! Alyssa was so easy to work with she listened to what I wanted made some suggestions & I absolutely love my new hair style! Since I've been back home I've had more compliments on my hair style & people telling me how much younger I look! I'll take those compliments all day!
I just wish I lived closer to DC to continue to have Alyssa to cut & style my hair! Thank you Alyssa for making me feel young & pretty again!

I loveeee this place! First of all, it is such a cozy and clean space and I felt very comfortable and taken care of from the moment I entered. I was offered water, tea, champagne, etc which was really nice and definitely something I wasn't expecting (maybe this is normal but I rarely get professional hair cuts). My hair stylist, Lauryn, was AMAZING. She listened to all of my concerns and requests, repeated it back to me and we worked out a plan. She totally understood what I wanted and made it happen. Also, the hair washing station has massage chairs which was nice. But Lauryn was truly the star of my whole experience - she even gave me a shower cap to keep my hair dry and preserve the blow out since it was pouring rain outside. I will definitely be back, and while I could certainly tell the other stylists were very talented and kind, I was especially blown away by the service and care I received.

Side note: The manager/owner(?) Jayson was also spectacular when I spoke to him on the phone several times to make my appointment and bombard him with questions. He was very accommodating and considerate. Overall 10/10 would recommend!

Diego is not a hair stylist - he’s a hair artist. He literally makes magic out of my graying hair. I’m so glad he’s at Inizio Salon because the vibe and culture is just so welcoming and fun. Some people may think spending a couple hours for root color, highlights and a cut is digging into personal time but I look forward to it every 8 weeks. It’s amazing to feel like you’re among friends while being made to look gorgeous <3

Inizio hair salon is the best in DC! Elena is an amazing hair stylist and gave me a great haircut. The salon was beautiful and all of the staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I highly recommend this hair salon.

My fave salon in DC!!!! I've had my hair cut and colored by multiple stylists here for years now. Besides talented stylists, it also just a cool place to hang. Love the decor and the general vibe between the stylists and the way they treat their clients. 5/5 recommend

Elena is the best. She has cut my sons' and their bio-dad's hair for years. The guys get the perfect fade every time and leave feeling like a million bucks. Their confidence is off the charts when she is done with them!

As for me, I have really thick hair that requires a lot of layering and thinning out for the shag style I favor, and she handles that well.

Most importantly, I lost my hair due to chemotherapy treatments last year. Elena has helped me maintain a positive attitude through it all by giving me touch up fades as my hair has fought to grow back. It really helped my mood to feel like I wasn't just letting something happen to me. Instead I was choosing to style what was coming back. Elena has stressed having fun and experimenting during this time, and that has been a vibe that has informed other aspects of my life as I move through the intense year of health issues I've had. We just did a fade and platinum blonde with my new virgin hair (I have dark dark brown hair). She was so focused on her vision, and we executed! She listened to me and knew what would work with my personality even more than I did, which is everything you want in a stylist.

Elena is creative, talented, and super fun to talk to and hang out with! Can't recommend her enough.

Chevelle revived my hair!

(For background, I have curly 3A hair and was in the process of getting it healthy again but all of that was undone by a different stylist elsewhere. I also would normally just contact the stylist to rectify issues but I didn't want to risk anymore damage. My hair had lots of banding, breakage and my curls weren't curling anymore. No, I don't bleach my hair myself nor use box dye). So when I found Chevelle, I was DESPERATE to restart my healthy hair journey again while maintaining the copper hair color I love. I saw her work on IG and read up on her experience and knew I could trust her.
I quickly scheduled an appt with Chevelle after 5 days after the other stylist butchered my hair. Upon sitting in her chair, she immediately saw and understood my concerns and woes, and discussed a solid plan for my hair moving forward. I had an amazing deep condition treatment and while at the shampoo bowl, the chair elevated to have me laying flat and MASSAGED my back. I NEVER had that kind of experience at a hair salon before so I was pleasantly surprised. I got a much needed cut that day and have been back 2 additional times to see Chevelle. I can honestly say this is the healthiest my hair has been in ~9 months. It's curling again, the color is POPPIN, and I can say I TRUST the hands doing my hair. Chevelle is super sweet and professional and created the perfect custom copper color for me. I hope she never leaves this salon lol
Also, the salon is clean and has a clean bathroom! They have tea, coffee, water, and champagne. The other stylists in there are friendly as well.

As far as price goes- if you want quality work and professionalism, you're going to have to pay $$; this isn't some chain salon that will put your desires for an instant color job over the health and integrity of your hair. I've been getting my hair dyed/cut/pressed professionally for the last 12 years, and I can say the price is on par for the services and professionalism you pay for.

We love this salon! Elena has been cutting my son’s hair for a while. She’s so sweet with him and engaging during their time together. And his whole soccer team always tells him how cool his hair-do is.
This past summer I had Camelia braid my hair. She was extremely thorough and patient during the entire process— it took twice as long as we anticipated. I have SO MUCH hair! She didn’t mind staying late with me, and our conversation just flowed, making the time go by fast! I got so many compliments on my hair!
Everyone at Inizio is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming. We love coming in!

Had the BEST experience here!! I had a stylist named Alyssa and she really took my hair to the next level. I was able to give her a vague idea of what I wanted, and she made it better than I could have imagined. The products she used smelled great, I loved the cleanliness and vibe of the salon, and I looked fabulous. I got a haircut, full foil highlights, wash and condition, toner, and blow-dry for less than $150. Will definitely be coming back here!!

They do naturalistas who want the occasional blowout with a flat iron bump! Elena took my 4B coils to bone straight in less time than it takes to get a full tank of gas at Costco!!! She was super quick, gentle with my hair and the end result was fabulous. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend Elena!

I followed Kristen to Inizio Salon. I have seen her on/off for the last couple of years and she is amazing. My highlights are always flawless- I don’t even live in DC anymore but try to see her when I come up for work trips. Run to this salon and to Kristen for any color needs but especially blonding!!

I went to Chevelle for a curly hair cut and she did a fantastic job!! I’ve gone years cutting my own hair after one too many professional cuts that ranged from meh to ommmg no. But it was time to risk it all and have a professional even out my super curly hair.

I absolutely love the cut she gave me! It’s shorter than I’ve had before (necessary to remove all the dead ends and even out the back) but I know it will grow in exactly how I want. And in the meantime, I’m loving my cute bob :)

She also gave me a recommendation for a new brush that I’m obsessed with and has made my curls look even more defined.

10/10 will return!

Elena at Inizio Hair Salon worked some serious magic on my mother, who was reluctant to do anything crazy but has experienced some lasting hair loss after her fight with cancer several years ago. Elena styled in a clip on bang in a way that looked so natural and chic. My mother looked great all through the afternoon and evening for my wedding photos! Thank you, Elena! Chevelle is an absolute dream! I haven't trusted someone to color my hair in almost 10 years. I showed Chevelle a few pictures, she brought what I pictured to life, and it was MILES better than I could have imagined. If you're looking for gorgeous color and someone who can truly work with any hair texture, Chevelle is your girl. No hesitation!

I got hair extensions for the first time and I was in absolute shock at how perfect and realistic it looked. Camelia did an absolute amazing job and I will be going back to her from now on! I am almost hesitant to tell you guys how amazing her work is as I want her all to myself! 3 days after graduation and my extensions are still flawless. She is a gift from God! Not to mention she is a sweetheart.
