Stan's DC Restaurant

On our last night in DC, my bf came across Stan's, so we decided to give it a try. It was also within walking distance from our hotel. We ordered the wings as an app, and then I ordered Chicken Alfredo, and he got half a rack of ribs. The food was delicious and the service was great. I enjoyed how it was underground, I thought that was super cool about the place. I would definitely come back here if I was ever in the area again!

Picture a 1950s smoke filled restaurant for "business" dealings. Minus the smoke. This is the kind of place where after ordering a steak they bring out the A1 sauce, and honestly that's great.

Is this top tier, reverse seared, wagyu? No way, but it's also $33 for a 14 oz NY Strip with two sides. It's a comfortable place that's not trying to make steak an elite only food, everything is respectable. I ended at 5 stars because it's actually not that easy to get a simple steak downtown. It's not the best steak ever made but it's solid and a decent value for it.

The French onion soup should get a mention too. It was also pretty solid. The onion was soft, but not as caramelized as I would have liked, but the soup base itself was flavorful and the cheese was perfect.

If you are looking for an old school restaurant that does solid basic food. Go eat at Stan's.

The bar back and bartender were super nice. The environment is very chill and comfortable.

The food was amazing! The crab cakes were delicious and everything was well seasoned. Highly recommend.

This NY gal LOVES wings, okay? And Stan's rival any I had in Buffalo!
But, the RIBS.... drooling and can't wait until I can have them again.
Drinks are STRONG, IYKYK, and if you don't, GO.
Cons- It's downstairs, and I've been twice and not seen another entrance, so it's less accessible than we'd like.

Reviews are on point. Definitely a local’s spot, but very welcoming. My friend and I sat at the bar and got great service and heavy pour drinks. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich and he had the shrimp pasta. 100% worth the charged prices.

I saw someone nearby with the fried wings and they’re MASSIVE. Definitely getting them next time for sure. Excited to visit DC again and return.

Casual basement bar and grill in downtown DC. I stopped here at the end of the workday with colleagues while in town for my union. I wasn't in for a drink but I did get wings and a grilled sandwich. The signature mumbo sauce was ok, a little sweet. The sandwich really hit a vibe for me. When I'm in town again I'd go back for that. We went on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't too busy yet. Service was a little slow, but solid and straightforward.

This place is absolutely amazing. The food was so fresh and delicious. I could literally devour everything on the table. I recommend the chicken strips and the catfish nuggets. The drinks were also well poured and the bar tenders were great. The service was on point, friendly, and attentive. They even helped my grandmother with the elevator and created an accessible experience for the entire table and restaurant in general. Everyone was is a good mood and the food was amazing. Highly recommend!

I am a Memphis native. It hurts me and thrills me to say this. I have NEVER had BBQ RIBS better than Stan’s. I’ve had them twice now to make sure they can replicate the ribs I had the first time. The beans and slaw are run of the mill Memphis style even though they, I think, say they are St. Louis style.

Fabulous place, wonderful atmosphere for family in the dining room and an EXCELLENT bar area. When I’m Washington, eat here.

This was my first time, and I'll definitely be back. The chicken wings were awesome, but the drinks were even better. I asked for tequila and pineapple juice. I received a glass of tequila and a glass of pineapple juice!

Service atmosphere and prices were great. Check them out and get the mumbo sauce with your chicken!!!

Went to Stan's for lunch and a drink. We ordered a couple of appetizers, which were great. The portions were pretty big, and the taste was great. We ordered a Bacardi and coke. This is simply the heaviest pour I've ever seen, so be fore warned. We enjoyed the visit. Our server, Joey, was exceptional.

Other than the tight, small space they offer you to eat in, I had a real good time here. One of the best hidden gems in DC. They have a very large drink menu and the bartender did not disappoint. One sip and I felt it. The chefs in the back cooked us a very delicious meal. We had stuff haddock with crab and pork chop with gravy on it. The portions was nice, I couldn't even finish it. Perfect little dive bar with great eats.

Hey everyone! Just had an amazing experience at Stan's restaurant in Washington, D.C.! Samantha, our server, was absolutely fantastic - quick and super attentive. The highlight of the meal was definitely the chicken wings with their sweet tangy hot sauce. It added the perfect kick to the already delicious wings. Highly recommend checking out Stan's if you're in the area!

We wanted to try out a local DC place while we were in town, and Stan's stood out to us among the choices from the glowing reviews. When we arrived at around 4pm we were the first ones there, but the place was soon packed! We ordered the chicken Alfredo, the baked wings, the fried wings, and a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Our waiter was very friendly and answered our questions patiently. When the food arrived we dug in and wow, the reviews were right! All of our food was excellent, some of the best dishes we've ever had. Stan's is a standout place to eat. Make sure to try the wings!

Looking for a quiet little place for an intimate date? Looking for inexpensive watered-down drinks? Well, look elsewhere. I went here on a Wednesday night, and the place was hopping. The after work crowd was here in full swing, and I had difficulty hearing the waiter over the din. Despite that, the atmosphere was infectious. I had originally planned on ordering a beer, but when the waiter explained they were known for the strong cocktails I thought, what the heck and ordered a Kentucky Mule with Makers Mark. It ended up being a $20 cocktail, but it was worth the cost. The drink was well made and included plenty of alcohol. I would not recommend one of their cocktails if you need to drive. But being in downtown DC, they are within walking distance of dozens of hotels. For dinner, I had a burger, which was a pretty standard burger. The patty was hand formed, however, and the meat was high quality. It was extra to add cheese or other fixings (lettuce and tomato were included), but a $15 burger in downtown DC is more than reasonable. I would highly recommend giving this place a shot the next time you find yourself downtown in the US Capital.

Great place for wings. It's a bit cramped inside but worth it if you want some good food. I always get the baked wings but their menu looks good. Definitely coming back and hopefully Samantha is my server again. She was polite, professional and made me feel at home.

Came into Stan’s today and I had a great time. Great food but excellent service. My waitress Samantha was the greatest. She asked us would we like to hear about their special. I said yes just to hear her lovely voice. She got our food out and fast as she could but that didn’t matter because she would check back on us want seems like every two minutes on the minute. She can really talk to anyone. I only want to come to this restaurant if Samantha is working. ❤❤❤🌹

The service was awesome. The food was excellent. Service was great and our server Becca was fast and delivered all I craved. The chef did a fantastic job. Great ambience - good for dates and families too. I would highly recommend this place. I loved it and thank you so much Becca for a wonderful outing.
