I travel a lot, I've been to 7 different hotels in the last 6 months, and this was, by far, my favorite one I've been to in years. Everyone that works here always greeted me so warmly and checked in to make sure things were going well, absolute 10/10 service from the front desk people to the bartenders. The room was super cozy and was exactly what I needed for a solo stay while I was in town for business. And the fitness center was expansive and had everything I needed. And lastly, the food was fantastic! I got the fried chicken sandwich and I also tried the creme brulee. This hotel is absolutely wonderful, zero complaints. :)

Rooms are fairly small & designed merely for the basics, but was aware of this going in and didn't need more as I was solo. Would be more cramped with additional luggage/person. Nonetheless, very comfortable, very clean, very quiet. Hotel staff were accommodating, friendly, & hospitable. I particularly enjoyed Jess & Hanoch, who were welcoming, courteous, & helped to assure that I felt at home and appreciated. Their manner helped me begin the day in good spirits and I truly enjoyed observing them interact with other guests in the same way as I sipped my coffee in the lobby.
Additionally the location was great & the food & service at the restaurant & downstairs whiskey bar were commendable. The restaurant apparently closes mid-day after brunch, reopening at 4pm for supper, & the downstairs bar was closed for a private event one evening. Those closures both affected me, but there were many convenient alternatives nearby and it wasn't a big deal to adjust my plans accordingly.

The rooms are small and some (ours included) had bunk beds. We knew this going in and loved it. It was well-located and had a great cafe, restaurant and whiskey bar all located on premise. The staff was amazing! The gave great recommendations, were friendly and made the stay enjoyable.

The staff were delightful!!! The coffee was delicious. The room was super clean and comfortable. We also received a stellar corner room with a view. The downstairs bar has a fabulous interior design and a live DJ played on Saturday night. The immediate surrounding of the hotel seems a little unpredictable regarding safety, but the hotel staff seems well-versed in keeping the entrance welcoming. Overall, I would stay here again!

The hotel was a great place to stay for our large group! The rooms are small but tidy and perfect for resting. Motto has a Whiskey Bar, diner and coffee shop in the lobby plus the Gallery Place metro entrance is just a few steps from the hotel. Everyone was so helpful, especially Lindsay who worked with our group before and during the trip. Highly recommend staying here for your next trip!

I stayed here for a conference I was attending at the Walter E. Washington convention centre. The rooms were definitely all I needed for a solo stay where I wasn’t going to be spending a lot of time at a hotel. For two coworkers, this might be a bit more confined than you would like, but I would definitely stay here with a partner. The location was great (less than a 10 minute walk to the convention centre and right across the road from a metro station). It’s also nice that there are tons of restaurant options nearby. The cafe and the restaurant in the hotel are super convenient and great options. Overall, I absolutely loved my stay here.

Stayed here for the first time for a short work trip. Front reception is efficient and very friendly. I was originally placed in a room on the 8th floor with a nice view. But I had an issue with the fan in the ceiling in the bathroom. It was always on. Even with the door closed it was still noisy. I called down to the front desk and asked if I was able to turn it off. The person who answered was a little gruff about it. He said the fans are always on to circulate air, but the door should be soundproof enough to block out the noise. Seeing as how the door in the smallest room can cover either the bathroom or the small front hallway, it was in no way soundproof or sealed. He offered to move me to a new room, so I took it. I got another room on the 3rd floor. Not a great view, but to my surprise the fan in the bathroom ceiling was off. I asked a colleague who was staying in the hotel whether his fan was on, and he said no. Very odd. The smallest rooms are quite small with almost no amenities, but if you're not spending a lot of time there (and staying alone) it's more than enough. The furnishings and decor in the rooms were nice. Pillows were quite uncomfortable but that's normal in a hotel for me. Overall it was a great stay, great location and great service. I would stay here again!

I loved the property. Great for solo traveling with comfortable rooms and well connected technology. Staff were very professional. It reminded a lot of the style of hotels in Scandinavia, stylish, compact, and focused on public areas. I'll be seeking it the Motto brand more often for my vacations!

The Gallery Metro station across the street is the one thing to consider for solo travellers who aren't used to staying in downtown areas, especially at night; it's a popular hang out spot and DC police were frequently in attendance.

I stayed at the Motto by Hilton, Washington DC in mid November. Yes, the rooms are small, but they are up-front about that fact, so it's not a surprise. The rooms are modern, very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the restaurant and cafe. Really, everyone was so nice! The location was great too and lots of restaurants nearby. Decent price for what you get and the location. Would definitely stay there again when in DC.

Sweet suite. It’s important to know that the rooms are micro hotel sized. Perfect for single travelers and snug for couples. It’s already been said that the bathroom toilet is directly next to the bed. Street noise is minimal in the room. Make sure you check out the gorgeous rooftop bar at sunset! Drinks and views are fabulous!

We came to DC as tourists to see the sights. The hotel we chose was for the location. Location was perfect, right near a metro stop. The hotel was modern and clean, had a great restaurant, coffee bar, fitness center, and view at the top. The rooms were micro rooms, small, but it was really all we needed. The rooms were clean, had all the high tech amenities...it made us feel like we were in Europe which was cool! The beds were very comfortable and the noise level was nonexistent, we stayed on the 8th floor during Labor Day weekend. Another thing I liked was that room service wasn't required, only if you requested it, which I think is nice to not have to worry about someone coming to your room every day. We stayed three nights. They have great cold brew there as well, perfect for the morning before a workout, which we did and the gym was quaint but had heavy dumbbells for my husband and all the equipment you'd need for a short stay. Very nice staff who were accommodating and sincerely nice people, very interested and engaged with the guests. Thank you!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Motto by Hilton Washington DC City Center. The hotel is at the entrance to Chinatown and within easy walking distance there was access to Walgreens, dining, and shopping. The sight-seeing opportunities and entertainment venues were very close by too! The front desk staff at Motto went above and beyond to ensure I felt safe and comfortable during my stay. The staff's knowledge of the area and eagerness to share resources and perspectives was greatly appreciated. I felt very safe staying at Motto. The rooms and the hotel was quiet and comfortable. I plan on returning to Motto during my next business trip.

Chose to stay at this hotel on our trip into DC over our usual spot due to the great price. I felt very safe inside the building. I will agree with other reviews that there is a very lively nightlife scene around the hotel and a homeless population, but no one will bother you if you do not bother them. this is no different than any where else in the city or any other large city in general. The building itself requires guests to be buzzed in or have a key so no one would be getting in without a reason to be there. The elevators also require a room key and so do any doors on the floor leading you into the room.
The rooms are small, but they have tons of creative storage solutions throughout the room and are incredibly clean. I understand that some people may think the rooms are too small but I found it to be the perfect size since it is just somewhere to sleep and get ready for the day.
I also found the contactless check in/check out, room selection, and digital key system very inventive and convenient.
I would definitely choose to come back to this hotel next time we stay in DC.

Bed. Bathroom. TV. Location.Just the basics at a good price. Tiny room good for one person or two who get along well. Rooms are clean and staff is friendly. Located in Chinatown, across the street from the Metro and Metrobus stop. This Metro line goes directly to/from the airport. Walking distance to the Smithsonian and the Mall, or take the Metro. One block to the arena. Tons of restaurants and bars nearby. Price can vary a lot depending on time of year and events, so if you're flexible in your travel time, check the price at different time periods.

I love it here. It’s quiet and a safe location if you have common sense. I’m from Chicago so people in unfortunate situations don’t scare me. They were even sweet and complimented me. I loved the room, modern, updated and the front desk can’t be beat. Best customer service in a hotel ever. To the people talking negatively to the less fortunate, shame on you. Show some compassion and stop being so scary.

Oh my goodness! This is a gem! Great location. Perfectly appointed micro room. Everything you need, just not a lot of wasted space. And Honnec at the front desk was incredibly patient and helpful. I will definitely stay here again!

We stayed here for an event at capital one arena and it was perfect walking distance! Two minute walk if that to the arena. As for the parking, we paid ahead and parked in the gallery parking garage that brings you directly inside capital one arena. The only complaint we had was after the event the restaurants were closed so we could not get food unless we doordashed. As for the diner for breakfast that didn’t open until 9am which was annoying but the cafe did have bagels so we grabbed those and were able to drive out of the city to get food. The rooms are tiny and the bare minimum which was perfect for our stay. The whole hotel and room was super clean, stylish and modern. Definitely will be staying there if we come back to dc just will need to plan meals a little better.

The location was very convenient for our New Year's Eve plans. Directly in the heart of downtown DC / Chinatown. The rooms are "cozy," similar to a New York style efficiency -- clean, quiet, awesome customer service, smart technology: temperature control, TV remote, lights, digital keys all via your phone. Hilton Honors can access early check-in and check-out via the app.
