I have received healthcare at several VA Hospitals in the United States. The level of care here at Hershel "Woody" Williams VAMC exceeds them all. The friendliness of the staff and their honest concerns for whatever health related issues you are facing is phenomenal. Hands down the best VA Hospital in the entire country.

Had to use other VA Medical Facilities in the past, we finally settled down in Catlettsburg KY, this VA Medical Facility is the best one, the staff is friendly, my PCM is great taking time to actually go in depth about my past and present conditions. Getting treated for PTSD and TBI in the Mental Health Dept has been great, the Doctor is very professional and group therapy is awesome. I would and fo recommend this VA Medical Facility to others

Very pleased with care and treatment experience with all the different facilities where I have obtained care. Dr. Somerville covered my most recent routine follow up visit for the Braxton County location and provided very thorough assessment and treatment plan.

Not a regular patient at this facility, nor was I here via the "Traveling Veteran Program" just passing through.

However I will give a brief review. This type of review is more of a compliment / informal memo / commentary on my brief experience here. Just a quick nod to the VA and what I would consider as a form or "best practices" while briefly on the grounds.

Old school style brick building has me walking around a bit in awe, reminding of some parts of the Chicago Veteran Affairs Hospital Campus as well as some of the ones in Northern Arizona most of the newer hospitals at large cities won't have these type of historical aesthetics.

Honestly I wasn't hear for an appointment I was here late a night due to a bit of PTSD from a little too much built up stress and exhaustion from driving so much.

At least the VA Police Officer was understanding that I was just passing through the area and not really try camp out there.

I just needed a breather of the freeway so that I could safely make it to the next rest area.

I think it helped that I walked up to him with both my hands clearly visible and halfway up in the air with my I.D. since it was like 3 in the Morning. Had to run lot's of night missions while in the service.

Sometimes my circadian rhythm gets a little off or I can't even hardly get to sleep due to adrenal glands being taxed out.

Appreciate once he verified I wasn't a safety hazard he let me take a breather from driving.

I really was burning the midnight oil partially due to a little bit of a mini physical health crisis with a severe bacterial infection.

Was basically in the process of driving halfway across the country seeking medical help elsewhere.

I'll probably will not ever be at this VA again but I do appreciate them having good Officer's that don't start off with too aggressive of an approach. He was very chill and helped my calm down and not seem like a complete basket case.

I don't normally try to go on to VA campuses unless I have a scheduled appointment or need to go to the ER. However this was a rare exception.

Good Bless the staff here and have a Happy Indepeence Day!

Sorry there needs to be way more Rest Areas in some parts of the U.S. I will start lobbying the Auto Insurance companies to Sponsor more Safety Zones like GEICO and State Farm does in some states. Hint Hint U.S.A.A. But I digress that should be mentioned to a different branch of GOVERNMENT probably.

I feel honored to be among all of our military veterans. My Dad and I travel a couple hours away to seek medically referred treatment for him every three months...the hospital staff is considerate and kind to my Dad each time we arrive. ..thank you for giving our military veterans a medical facility they can count on.

Myself, wife and mother-in-law(decease veterans wife) were all able to get the covid Injections. Something the state of West Virginia fail to accomplish. Very little wait time staff was on point and friendly.
Job well done to all.

My first visit was today. The departments I went to today got me in quickly and took care of my needs promptly. I am so far impressed with the care. I also talked to a few other veterans there that sang praises for the care there

My husband was just wanting to get a military discount card but ended up getting medical care. How often does that happen? Very nice 👍. They are very good to the veterans. If people complain about it they should be in the military.

In addition to my primary care doctor at the Huntington VAMC, I also see many of the specialists on a regular basis. I must say that all the doctors, nursing staff, and other workers are always courteous and respectful toward me. Oh, sometimes I hear others grumble, but I can't understand why they complain, and neither do I have any control over what others.say. Therefore, I just move on, knowing I am often thanked for my service and treated kindly by those who work there, and this veteran is most appreciative of it all.

Took my dad for a neurology appointment and the doctor was so thorough and listened to everything we had questions about. My dad was also in quite a bit of pain from a fall he had taken. Got in to see a nurse practioner who could’nt write a script for pain meds but quickly got us in with a doctor who gave my dad a script. We also got eye glasses adjusted and my dad was issued a new rolling walker which was a lifesaver! I was so pleased with his visit and all that we were able to accomplish! Everyone was super nice and so very helpful!

I know several of the staff and know a lot of vets who use the VA. You'll always hear the BS but rarely here the positive comments. If you served and you are eligible for VA services by all means try them out before you spend a fortune elsewhere.

It's one of the few places like you'll say I have yet to meet anyone who is not an absolute professional. They treat each individual as if they were a person and individual. I have never been treated with any ill respect perfect in every way thank you
