Just came here for a night cap. It was nice outside so we wanted to sit outside by one of the fire pits. The wine selection is great and rotates monthly. Definitely a great spot to check out, whether you're a wine lover or you're a beginning just starting to learn about wine!

Maxwell Park offers a great wine selection with price ranges for everyone. The environment is cute, featuring low, dim lighting that creates a cozy ambiance. The service is excellent, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. In the cooler months, you can sit outside with a heater, making it a comfortable spot year-round. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just looking for a relaxed evening out, Maxwell Park is a fantastic choice.

Easily the best wine bar in DC and perhaps the best wine bar I’ve been to in the U.S. Their approach combines zero stuffiness with deep knowledge and a sense of fun. Go!

Absolutely love this Maxwell in Shaw. The atmosphere is great, the drinks are good and the food is great. Best grilled cheese in the city and the duck is amazing as well. I highly recommend this place if you are going to have a night out with friends or want a quick dinner in a pretty laid back atmosphere. Also good for date nights. Will definitely be back.

My friend recommended I come here on my trip to DC, and I'm so glad she did! Tbh, I'm very jealous of anyone who lives near this place. Such a neighborhood vibe but a wine bar....which is not something I've found in Philly. Owner knows people, has great recommendations, offered a few samples for me to help me pick, and just a great person. Had so much fun and met a bunch of great people here just by sitting at the bar. Highly recommend, can't wait to come back!

Such a great vibe this place is…Service was great... sat at the bar was immediately greeted with water… and the music was good… I stopped in randomly ordered the grilled cheese which was spectacular!! Among the greatest that I have had and was able to have it paired nicely with a chilled white wine… I’m very content!

Firstly, the wine is great and the thematic menu adds a nice monthly refresh. A few great appetizer options; definitely recommend pimento cheese dip. Room for improvement in environment and restroom situation.

My new favorite wine bar (really the only wine bar I know). Multiple staff members, including the owner, are sommeliers and are very knowledgeable of wine. They have a monthly theme that keeps people coming back for more, and they do cool events all the time. Get there early for a table (I don't think they do reservations), get an Uber, and hey ready for a great night.

A little expensive but talk about a fantastic wine spot. The staff know what they're talking about and all the wine is excellent. Perfect date night spot.

They have really upped the food game here since they brought on Masako Morishita in the kitchen. The food is creative, innovative, complex, yet unfussy.

Loved the gyoza- which was filled with a rich edamame and garlic purée. I could’ve eaten them all night long.

The taco rice is the traditional comfort food like you find in Japan, but the beef is cooked in Japanese curry spices… making it even better.

Also recommend the braised daikon as long as it’s on the menu. This dish is of the caliber of something you expect to find in a Michelin rated restaurant. Really really great.

Oh and the wine is good too.

Very cute wine bar (also very small but they do have an outside patio). The staff is terrific and extremely knowledgeable. JT was our sommelier and made excellent recommendations to our entire group. Would highly recommend for a fun date night or out with friends!

Best wine bar in DC by far! Amazing wines from around the world on a fantastic wine list that changes monthly based on monthly themes. Staff/owners are very knowledgeable and very kind, a combo that’s hard to find in DC wine circles. Maxwell is truly a gem in DC, it is decently priced and offers wine by the half glass - perfect for tasting new wines!

They move a lot of wine through here, thanks in part to their monthly thematic menus. Each month they curate a new list of wines around a shared theme such as a region/country of the world. What's cool about this is that each month there will be something new to try, all without having to go through the hassle of finding a new wine bar to visit. Maxwell Park also hosts a variety of events that are worth checking out. There are many seating options, ranging from bar seating and indoor high-tops to lower tables outside on the patio.

A gin and tonic here is inexplicably better than any gin and tonic I’ve ever had before or since. Great vibes - fun place!

Knowledgeable and professional service. Good selection with option for half glass. Wine’s price range is a bit wide so be careful . I would suggest they have a separate “Premium” section to make it clearer for customers to know what range they are buying.

Here is a little hidden gem in Shaw. Always busy, but somehow I always manage to find a spot. It requires a little patience, but it’s worth the wait! The wine selection is always on point! finger food selection is really good, but let’s face it, you are going there for the wine, make sure to actually chat with your server and understand the selections. They are very knowledgeable and can help navigate you through a fun evening full of wine surprises…

We visited Maxwell park and did the Australian wine tasting for my friend's birthday. I had been to Maxwell Park just a week prior for the first time, and immediately wanted to come back and bring my friend! We had such a great time and it was by far the BEST wine tasting I've ever done because we got to learn so much about wine in a short amount of time. I find that many wine tastings are just talking via a script and trying to market the bottles, but at Maxwell Park, they really want to walk you through it all, and I left feeling confident in what I liked and what I should ask for when I go out to dinner. The wine tasting also came with snacks, which was really good, and then a cookie for the birthday girl :)

If you're looking for a good local wine bar that has friendly and knowledgeable staff, Maxwell is the place. I see this place easily becoming one of my favs for a chill evening/night with a friend or solo!

The guest somm Daniel was excellent tonight. Gave me a fantastic red and the champagne was top notch. 10/10 would recommend

This place is awesome!! The drinks were amazing and the wine is phenomenal!!! I give the customer service five stars!! The owner Ms. Lang did amazing job on giving my friends and I choices on wine and cocktails to choose from! Her interaction with customers in this high end DC location makes you feel you’ve been there 1 million times!!!I love this place!! by the way the Lamb burger is to die for!!The facility it self is so classy and comfortable. I would definitely recommend everyone to go check it out. If you want to go on a date with a significant other or just have a good time with friends, this is the place to be. Plus, they do a great job following the COVID-19 procedures during this pandemic!!
