An open space lacking spatial definition ideal for a new infill development

Too much traffic Sunday to go to the Tidal Basin and Haines Point to see the cherry blossoms, so I turned around and went up 395 through the tunnel to Capitol Hill. Wound up parking on the north side of the Senate Park on the street. Plenty of parking, few people, beautiful cherry trees, lots of benches. Nice alternative to the Tidal Basin. Across the street is the memorial apologizing for internment of Japanese Americans during WWII, well worth a visit.

Very chill, quiet, colourful and well kept park with plenty of benches. I love to get some work done or read a bit here.

As I've written in my other reviews of the neighborhood, it doesn't cut it to just walk up to the Capitol building and take a pic and go. The whole area is gorgeous and splattered with little places to go see. One such is the Senate park. In particular, there's an absolutely fantastic - relatively lesser known - fountain here called the Senate Fountain. It's right on your way to the Capitol. Surprisingly, many people miss it. So take a pause. Look at this gorgeous structure!

It should be on your holiday cards!

Quiet small park in the middle of DC between Union Station and the Capitol Building. Beautiful trees and plump friendly squirrels.

Peaceful as it can be considering where it is. Friendly squirrels and birds. It's a little park.

This is a great spot for a unique picture of or with the Capitol - or a good picnic spot with food from union station.

Just reopened from an extensive renovation and looking FRESH!

Three water features:
1. I love the high-energy, aggressively barfing lion fountain up top
2. …but I equally love the slow going easy flowing lower level buttercup fountain. I might even like it more.
3. The duck toilet… whoops I mean reflecting pool. It’s always Listeria green, which provides a dramatic contrast to the clear water of the other two features.

All-in-all, lower senate park is a great place to walk through or hang out for a bit.

I love this area when you want to set out a blanket and read a book without any interruptions. Steps away from the mall and other museums and monuments. For some reason when you are here the other noises kind of phase out..... Bring a picnic, take a nap, do whatever...close by restaurants are great too in case you need some refreshments and/or use the restrooms.

Love the parks near the mall. This one is fantastic with a couple water features, and I've never found it to be too crowded. Usually people just walk through this park. Take some time and check out the plaque commemorating the area and George Washington.

Clean park for a night walk. Quiet and safe place to walk up to the hill. Capitol Hill that is. there is no cars around apart from some official vehicles from time to time. Recommended bike stop or a walk around the city.

So pretty! Came in April and the cherry blossoms were beautiful. Ride into Union Station and go for a walk. Great things to see on this side of the mall.

It's a beautiful park and a great place to visit; after all, it is our Capitol! Go inside the buildings and view all the wonders inside as well, which adds to the outside and it will add to your visit. Also, go visit your representatives and senators! I was wonderfully welcomed by my congresswoman's office! Enjoy "your" park and "your" Capitol!

Always a fun place to be. If you have a free day, this is a good sight to take in. You are also near several things, so you really can make a full day of it all. Enjoy!

Beautifully landscaped park especially in April and early May when cherry trees, crabapples, tulips, dogwoods, then azaleas are in bloom. It is a truely hidden springtime gem of DC.
