Holiday Inn Express Washington DC Downtown, an IHG Hotel

We checked in late, but the folks at the desk were super nice. Room was clean and modern. We only spent one night so we didn't use the other amenities. The only downsides were that out of three elevators only one was working. In the morning, there were long waits for the lone elevator we crammed in as many people as possible. At the morning breakfast, a worker kept rudely scolding guests when they were getting food. I understand food safety, but extra comments and attitude weren't necessary. I would visit here again, hopefully they would have all three elevators working.

We booked this hotel in advance because it was cheaper and we were hesitating but did a right choice!
The location is great. 15 minutes walk away from the rail way station, 25 minutes away from the Capitol and etc.
The rooms are clean, not that big but again, for such a price....
They offer free breakfast which is super helpful and tasty. They offer coffee and tea at the lobby 24 hours, breakfast- potatoes, omelet, pancakes, jam, Donuts, sausages, banana, apples, yogurts, almond milk, juices, cupcakes....really cool breakfast

100% recommend staying here!! The staff was super friendly from the moment we walked in. They kept our belongings safe and secure while we waited for our room. We showed up 6 hours before checkin time. They did the same after we checked out too. The breakfast was great! Lots of options for my picky family. As long as you get up early and not wait until right before breakfast is over you won’t have a problem finding seating. They always quickly brought up towels when needed. Ritchie was a hit with my kids (he works at the front desk). We really enjoyed our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the entire hotel was spotless. The location was also great! Lots of close places to grab food.

Not sure why this hotel has such low ratings, because I had the best stay! Front desk was very accommodating with my stay- from getting me extra pillows, to getting me new key cards. Breakfast was amazing every day- buffet; Fully stocked. The staff was very nice and friendly. Rooms were very clean- beds were comfortable. Great city views. Definitely recommend this hotel. Great location too. Special thanks to Richard & the front desk ladies, and the gentleman who takes care of the breakfast buffet. (Sorry I don’t remember all names)

Clean and quiet rooms for an adequate price. Everything you need is within walking distance: a 24h 7/11, a big grocery store, several CVS stores and a couple of good restaurants and liquor stores. If you're interested in sightseeing, you can also easily just walk to the white house.

The staff is very polite and helpful.

The breakfast offered a decent range of options but I wished there were more fruits available. It also gets very crowded no matter when you come to get breakfast.

I left three dresses hanging in the closet of my hotel room and the very kind staff shipped them to me! Thanks to Cameron, Richie, and all the great staff members at this HI location.

Otherwise, good and would recommend and stay here again.

Kinda a hike to metro with all your bags
My room didn't have a Do Not Disturb tag and housekeeping tried to come in in the morning while I was getting ready three times, which was just kinda weird.

Great location, reasonable priced, helpful and very kind stuff, and the hotel is quite new, so everything looks nice with modern design.
The breakfast is quite simple, but good.
The hotel has its own guest parking lot, but it is quite small and it is hardly to find a spot there, but there is in a short walking distance. a public parking lot, only 20$ a day.

I was here for Otakon 2023 and this hotel was amazing! 8 minute walk from the convention center with restaurants and hotels on the way. As a young woman, even when in revealing cosplay, I felt comfortable walking around the area. The hotel room was a little small, but even with 4 of us, it didn't feel cramped. Breakfast was amazing and there were almond and soy milk options which I was so excited to see! The staff was super friendly, even when I had trouble accessing the confirmation and needed my key card reactivated multiple times (the metal detectors kept deactivating them at the con). All in all, this was a fantastic experience and I would be happy to stay here again 😁

We really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn.The staff were very helpful and friendly. Shout out to Dion who greeted everyone at breakfast and was very helpful and friendly.

The breakfast was tasty and they had a good selection. We were able to fill up at the hotel every morning before setting off on our adventures.

The two young ladies at the front desk were so nice & professional, they went above & beyond to help with everything I needed. Only flaw was parking, I just found parking on the street & walked to the hotel. Saved over $150 dollars

Service was amazing. Front desk was extremely nice and helpful. Room was clean. This hotel is centrally located. Parking is a bit of a pain. Hotel valet is a bit expensive but metered parking was always available. Overall a good stay

Great service and location. Rooms on the 14th floor are small but really nice and new. Just what you need but I could do without the automatic lights in the bathroom, get blinded at night! Rather have a built in nightlight but just a nit. Breakfast is the standard IHG stuff and I still like the biscuits and gravy even though I don't know what's in there... yogurt, oats, eggs, bacon are great. Sorry I didn't go to the gym.
People that work here are awesome, shout out to Paris!

We stayed here for a getaway. I see many of the poor reviews came from delayed opening due to construction issues. We found the staff to be very accommodating from check in through checkout. The place is brand new and immaculate. The layout of the rooms is familiar, but with extra outlets and usb ports. Breakfast was excellent and stocked well. Motion sensors in the bathrooms need some work, or a way to disable them.
We ahve no complaints, only compliments!

We’re only halfway through our stay, but the staff and service at this hotel are quite simply phenomenal, including everyone from front desk and housekeeping all the way up to and including (especially) the operations director. We had a bit of a mix-up in our reservation due to some misinformation from the national booking phone line, and these folks went above and beyond in finding a workable resolution. The hotel is also new, nice, and clean, and in a super central location!

We have had a couple of other issues related to traveling with a small child with some extra needs. Frankly, there have been moments I felt like we were not the easiest guests. Every time we have had to ask for something, these folks have stepped up and been empathetic, warm, and strategic about it, even on a busy holiday weekend. It has made a stressful trip much easier, and the staff deserve nothing but kudos, including from corporate! We would definitely book here again!

I’m not quite sure what the other reviews were about. I tend to overnight in the city when I have early, multiple day meetings (despite being a Virginia local) and I didn’t find anything concerning about this property. Everything was as it was supposed to be for a night. Valet parking was quick and easy, room was spotless, breakfast was standard HIE fare. I was pleased and didn’t have any issues checking in or out, nor any billing issues. Even had some cool views from the rooms. I would stay here again!

This location was review bombed for failing to open on time. That practice is unacceptable, but it also has no bearing on the quality of your visit now that the hotel is open.
The staff were tripping over themselves to accommodate our requests, and the rooms + location were more than good value for their cost. This is definitely a budget hotel; some electronics are not working quite right and breakfast was motel-level, but it is an excellent option if you want to tour DC cheaply.

Convenient location and clean room. The front desk had great customer service, however, the valet desk/workers were rude and lacked any type of professionalism.

Despite being a "express" hotel, Services at Holiday Inn Express were very good, from amenities to coffee and tea at will in the lobby 24h a day. Very good breakfast included. The only drawback was the erratic room cleaning. Yet I don't require daily cleaning, it would be good knowing when the room service will be there.

I stayed here for Otakon 2023. Location is a straight 10 min walk to the convention center. I had a nice stay, breakfast was included so that was very convenient. Our keys kept deactivating but I think the metal detectors at the convention center is what caused that so it's not a fault on the hotel. Didn't have any problems while I was here. Looking to stay here again for Otakon 2024.

I am very pleased with my stay at this location. I was very skeptical after reading the reviews but glad I decided to come anyway. The two young ladies at the desk Stacey and Marcia were very pleasant and friendly. They even welcomed us back when we returned from touring the city and offered us coffee,tea, or hot chocolate to warm up after being out in the cold. Great customer service overall and the room was great as an added bonus. Will definitely be returning! Stacey made a joke about us being family because we share a last name. That tickled me 😊
