I visited the US Navy Memorial Plaza for the first time a few weeks ago. And that building is very impressive. We watched a movie premiere in the theater and it was top tier. Very nice place to host and event. Very well done, memorial!

It was a really cool place to look around. My husband just started service in Navy last month, so this place was more meaningful personally.

I am an art lover, so this place made me happy. There are so many artworks that you would enjoy, and they were really well-made pieces.

This is an amazing little park. We were fortunate enough to me walking by when the military band was playing and stopped to listen. Great band but also super cool monuments. Check out the pics! Crazy detail to these bronze plates.

Hidden gem! So many great details in this memorial. Don't miss the indoor exhibits behind the memorial, inside the building.

The Plaza and Visitor Center museum were both interesting places to visit. The Memorial includes the Lone Sailor statue, World Map and plaques highlighting important historical events in Navy history. The Visitor Center museum had many interesting artifacts, models and exhibits on display. I especially liked the Zumwalt exhibit and the Lone Sailor Award exhibit. It was interesting to see how many non-military celebrities there were that served in the Navy.

Meaningful spot to visit highlighting many functions of the US Navy through the years, illustrated in detailed bronze reliefs. The significant and appropriate fountains are not currently operating. Naval flags abound and there is a small museum on the square as well. The bronze statue of the Warer of the Seven Seas bestows luck on all sailors who touch his statue. Being a Navy spouse, I particularly appreciated that our role is represented in one of the reliefs.

The memorial building opens at 9:30 where as other buildings open at 10a. So, no excuse to not pop in and have a browse. It's free. The plaza has interesting information.

Great display and memorial to our sailors featuring a huge map of the world flanked by bas relief sculptures of parts of US Navy history - our Navy in action. Definitely worth seeing, this place is one where you want to check the website as events are often occurring.

A great open and under-the-sky memorial to US navy, the Plaza has several historic buildings and tiny monuments all around. It's sort of 'on your way' in Washington as you move from one side of the city to another, jumping from some history to other history! Parking can be a challenge. I recommend the city's absolutely fantastic subway instead. There's an out nearby.

Get off and walk around. Take in the surroundings. There's several government buildings of note within a two-block radius. There's also a few eating option for you or your kids, if anyone's hungry.

A word of caution, however: The area teems with homeless persons. Some of them can be drunk (even during daytime) and can be aggressive. It's best you stay away - far away or to another side of the street. Cops are never too far but they only intervene if called upon. So, note where the cops are and remember to signal to them if someone tries to get money off of you.

RIP Dad and Uncle Eddie 😘 The Navy was your calling. This place is the keeper of the original Lone Sailor. A must to see. The Granite sea of continents is amazing.

A beautiful memorial that honors the sea services of the United States. Plaques surround parts of two sides and water fountain offer peaceful noise. Benches and steps can be used to sit on, and there is ample walking space. The center is the cement etched to show a map of the world in the sense of being a globe. Overall, this is a lovely place to take in.

If you ever served in the Navy, and you visit our Nation's capital, you absolutely 💯 percent must make your pilgrimage here. Recommend listening to the Navy Hymn and read along the steps.

This location is across from the National Archives, is free and open for public viewing. Has names and sculptures of great Sailors, the likes of John Paul Jones. Also within a couple of blocks and view of Smithsonian American Arts Museum and National Portrait Gallery.
