Second Sand Beach Park

Very nice long sandy beach. Stopped here on a Saturday and we were the only ones there. The lake was smooth as glass. Several parking spots with a grill and table at each one. There is a porta potty.

While staying at Baraga state park we were looking for a nice big Sandy beach and boy did we find it! No bathrooms that I saw but several grills and lots of tables. Water is plenty shallow for quite a bit out so the kids have LOTS of room to play! Water was fairly calm and cool of course till you acclimated. Overall a great place to spend an afternoon!

Definitely coming back probably the nicest lake beach I've been to. Clean quiet and relaxing!

Soft sand and beautiful water. What more do you need? They have picnic area and BBQ pit.

This place is an incredible place to swim, it's shallow for a long time and gradually gets deeper, so there's no drop off as far as I've gone out! And it's usually pretty warm here too! And there's shade because of the trees so it's just a nice little place to swim!

This beach is sandy and the water shallow. It is a bit of a walkout if you are a swimmer. The water gets warm and is a local favorite. There are picnic tables and standing grills. It's good to have your bug spray along with sunscreen. Depending on the wind and time of day, the black flies and misquotes can be a nuisance. Enjoy!

One of the best beaches in the area (better than some in the Keweenaw in my opinion). A must go!

Water was perfect, sand bars and light waves with no flies or mosquitoes.

Lovely, uncrowded, huge sand beach. There are pretty clean portapotties, lots of picnic tables, fire rings and the parking is shaded. The water is warm enough to swim in August. There was a jet ski and a few power boats off in the distance, but they weren't very annoying.

I hesitated in writing a review, because this beach isn't crowded like the ones closer to my house. I really don't want more people going to Second Sand Beach.

The entrance is tricky to spot coming from the south, and there is no sign when coming from the north.

This is a great beach on Lake Superior! Sand forever, no rocks to deal with. Shade under the trees is very close to the water if you need it and the water is shallow for a long ways out so it's great for little ones. Usually not crowded and you can park within 50' of the water. Temperature of the water is hit or miss from day to day, but that is expected on Lake Superior, and it's always a great time with the family here!

Gorgeous beach! Quiet, park under trees and walk right to your spot!

My Gran parents have a trailer there so I get to enjoy it often. In the picture it was raining.

Usually uncrowded with lots of sandy beach and lots of water at suitable depth for kids. However, no amenities (tables, trash cans grills, restrooms), so come prepared.

Very spacious and an actually clean beach. Great for families to have fun in the sun.

Best beach in the area. Secluded beach in a cove that is all sand and great for the kids to swim. Only 10 mins out of L'Anse.

My family always comes out here when we are in the U.P. and it's always nice out here. The water is mostly calm and it's usually pretty warm as well.
