Kampai Japanese Steakhouse

Absolutely amazing experience. Manager and server were so attentive, kind, and personable. Food was perfect and cook was lots of fun. Whole party had a blast, and were overwhelmed by the kindness showed to us. Can't wait to come back.

Came here with my daughter on a girls' night out and we had a blast. We had drinks, sushi, and a delicious dinner. We came here on a Tuesday night and it was very busy. We waited an hour for our food, but we got our drinks quickly the waitress apologized profusely, and took off our drinks from the bill. We always love to come to Kampai the food is always delicious and the service is always courteous.

12 people, for Birthday celebration. The waitresses were on top of everything. The chef was great, and funny. We all had a great time. The food was delicious and more than enough! Priced reasonably . You won't leave hungry!

This was our first time visiting Kampai and it was wonderful. The Ambience is that of an actual Tokyo or Kyoto steakhouse with Hibachi, traditional Japanese, and sushi style dining. The staff (female) wear a colorful kimono dress and the males wear black vests and black pants. The hibachi meals are shared with other guests and reservations for these are highly recommended to ensure that your party is able to be together and the show involved with the meal preparation is always fun and entertaining. The traditional Japanese and sushi dishes are amazing and very skillfully prepared. There is also a very diverse selection of wines, cocktails and, beers, and sake from which to choose from. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and the portions are generous. This is a family friendly environment but there are plenty of private alcoves available to have a romantic dinner for two without issue. There is plenty of parking and the staff was very friendly and attentive. They take both cash and cards to meet the needs of their patrons. We are absolutely going to come back as our experience was beyond words and recommend this hidden gem to everyone.

I had dinner at Kampai while visiting friends in Vestal, and we had an AMAZING omakase experience. I wish I took more photos of our food to do the meal justice, but these few will have to suffice. The head sushi chef was super friendly, attentive to our taste requests (which was just to go on a delicious adventure!) and dished up beautifully crafted plates. The fish was fresh and hearty (no skimping on cuts here!) and the simple vanilla ice cream dessert was made decadent with gold sugar decoration and fruit details.

Besides the 12 out of 10 food, Kampai's ambiance is fantastic. While we enjoyed our more intimate dinner experience at the sushi bar, there were larger groups enjoying the hibachi tables, something I would like to try on my next visit. I also appreciated that the restaurant manager took the time to check in on us, which was very thoughtful, especially since it was a busier night.

I can understand why Kampai has been in business since 1975 and I look forward to my next visit!

This place is INCREDIBLE! We had the miso soup, the margaritas, Tsunami roll, as well as the scorpion roll and chocolate peanut butter cheesecake for desert. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Always a wonderful time at Kampai. We often celebrate milestones here- this time we were here to celebrate our parents anniversary. Hibachi was fun and delicious, as usual!

We love Kampai and try to get here as often as we can. Not only is the sushi outstanding, but the staff is friendly and the service is impeccable. When you're eating here, you truly feel like they know all of their customers. It's just a great atmosphere.

I forgot how much fun it really could be sitting there with people you don't know and watching the song entertaining you and cooking amazing food at the same time congratulations people you do an amazing job thank you so very much I can't wait to come back and it won't take me so long this time

What an awesome place to experience an entertaining way to dine and go out. We sat at the habachi grill while Raul cooked us some unbelievably fantastic food. He had great personality and was a masterful chef. The filet was cut with a fork and cooked to alls perfection. The scallops were some of the best I ever had. I’m not a veggie eater but I can only tell you I did eat them and they were delicious. What a place to go celebrate an occasion. The owner was were attentive as were all the staff. Kudos to this establishment for getting it all right

Amazing presentation and hibachi. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection every time. They do an excellent job at recognizing shell fish and shrimp allergies and its safe for all families! I highly recommend this awesome restaurant.

Always great! Wonderful hosts ! Bree was super quick to get us sat on a busy Saturday, Diana was a super sweet, quick, attentive and accommodating server. And Kayoko-San even wrote our names in Japanese on our pictures!

Cannot best the hibachi style dining! Great food and a whole'lotta fun too! The one and only down fall is the fact that it is always very, VERY hot in there. Would be nice to have some better air circulation especially when sitting around the hibachi! Thanks!

The place is very nice and clean. The staff are very friendly. It is pricey but you are paying for the experience. Food was prepared right in front of us. The chef had fun with us putting on a mini-show. The staff took a photo of our group. Great place to celebrate your special occasion.

The place was busy and exciting! There was a short wait for our reservation. The staff went above and beyond at every opportunity, I cannot say enough about how friendly and kind everyone was. The sushi and sashimi were the best I have had in the region! 100% recommend!

Have been going here for 25 years. Food is always fantastic. Hibachi chefs put on a great show and cook things perfectly. Love the onion soup and salad. Just a wonderful experience.

Was really fun, first time going, and didn't exactly know what to expect. Would love to go again and hopefully we will get the same cook.
