The MVR is a Mahoning Valley classic. They have a variety of Italian specialties ranging from pasta entrees to sandwiches and pizza.

I went with the Meatball Splash, three sizable beefy meatballs sandwiched between two slices of Italian bread covered with provolone cheese and liberally doused with the house red sauce.

If you’re fortunate enough to have Antonio as your server, you’ll find out how wonderful he is. If not, ask for him if it’s not too busy or you don’t mind waiting, because it gets crowded on the weekends and there may be a wait to get a table. If so, grab a drink at the front bar, or head to the back and watch some spirited bocci games.

One of my favorite spots in Youngstown. The new building for their bocce courts is beautiful. Nice bar in the back also.

We came in on a Saturday night with a crew of six and Antonio was absolutely fantastic! Service was excellent, food was delicious, and his attentiveness to our party despite the rush did not disappoint. He was extremely personable and even shook everyone’s hands when he dropped off our check. Made my first experience here one to remember and we will be back soon!!!

Food, service and atmosphere was awesome. A bit on the pricey side for the portions you get. All thought again the food was very delicious. It was my first time there and I loved it.

Chaney High School class reunion held in the banquet room the Friday night after Thanksgiving. About six months prior to the reunion, a group of us classmates ate dinner at MVR ordering multiple menu items to decide on our reunion buffet menu. That night was when Joe stopped at our table and said he had experience with reunions and would help us plan. Joe helped us select a menu that aligned with feedback from past reunion menus and our price range. Joe and I e-mailed confirming the menu, final cost, room set-up, and guest count. He was quick to respond and always accommodating. The night of the reunion, Jill coordinated our service and was excellent- she coordinated timing of salads, buffet service, the cake being cut, keeping the room tidy, and all while handling everyone’s bar drink orders throughout the evening. Jill asked when we arrived our expectations for the timing and service of food and drinks then she met those expectations so those of us who coordinated the reunion could enjoy catching up with classmates. Everyone who attended the reunion said the food was excellent. Those who traveled from out of town enjoyed coming home to Youngstown Italian food. I would highly recommend having an event in the banquet room at MVR. I’m confident Joe and Jill will ensure the event is a success. Thank you!

First off, I ordered my dish solely because it had the best name, hells shells. The meal was wonderful, spicy enough for a guy that loves spice. Food was delicious, my only complaint was that there wasn’t more of it, I could have eaten a truck load of those shells. The service was awesome even for our large event in the back room. All around great experience, can’t wait to go back.

We organized a memorial dinner for my dad at MVR. They made the entire process so easy, and the food and service was wonderful. A special thank you to Karen for her wonderful service.

This is a fabulous place to eat. One of the best Italian eateries that I have had the pleasure to visit. A true dining experience.

We had a group of 12 in the main dining room and Gina was the best waitress! She made everything go smoothly, from taking orders, to service in good time, asking if we needed anything, and bringing take away containers without asking!

MVR hosted our rehearsal dinner of around 70 guest. The staff did an excellent job, the food was amazing, and the price was a great value! We enjoyed some Bocce after dinner and it really made for an enjoyable night. Joe was very easy to communicate with and answered all our questions along the way. 5 Stars all around. Thank you!

I met a friend for dinner and thrifting, neither of us have been to Youngstown so we took a shot, and it was excellent! Friendly staff, great food, and great portions! I recommend the raging caujin ravioli.. so so good!

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here on June 17th.. the food was delicious, the staff was excellent, and we had the time of our lives. Everyone can’t stop talking about how amazing the food was! We had the spicy bow ties as apart of our buffet and people can’t stop talking about it. After dinner and dessert, we played bocce on the newly renovated courts (which was beautiful), and we had so much fun playing! Joe was very helpful throughout the process and answered all of our questions at a timely manner..Joe even made an appearance at our dinner and sat down and talked to my grandpa. I highly recommend MVR for your rehearsal dinner!

This place is amazing. AND if you have a tomato allergy - you can get the olio pasta. So yummy 😋

A friend held her daughter's bridal shower here. It was a perfect setting. The food and service were excellent.

Food is always great here. Got the chicken parmesan sandwich. I get the Alfredo sauce instead of the red sauce. Sandwich and fries were delicious. Very busy. Usually have a little wait but worth it.

Such an amazing place in downtown youngstown. It's hard to even rogue out where to start. Everything was amazing. We didn't have to ask our waitress for anything... the food was so good. The only problem was there wasn't more of it. 🤣 that's not because we needed more because the portion sizes are very reasonable. Will certainly go back. The wife and I wanna work our way through the whole menu!
