Hudson & Essex

This place is one of a kind. It used to be a car dealership back in the 20s. Fast forward a wonderful restaurant for a celebration, business dinner, or casual date night. They have their own winery and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste. Below the building there are caverns built in the 1800s to store lager beer. This is a ‘must stop’.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and this was a special meal to do that! Incredible beet and arugula salad and a pumpkin spice margarita to start, and for entrees I had a 4 oz filet and husband had 8 oz salmon--the sides were perfect complements. Finished with a beautiful coffee service and banana bread pudding. Looking forward to a return visit!

Elevated menu, by far the best pork chop and turmeric cauliflower I have ever had!!! I'm a broccoli lover not so much a cauliflower eater, but I will dream about that cauliflower. The flavors on that plate were perfect and amazing!!
Steak was juicy tender and melted in your mouth.
Appetizer we had the onion dip, so delish.
And the dessert wasn't bad either, rich with some pops of fruit added to it.

Very expensive, big portions and I guarantee you won't find the food offered here anywhere else, this restaurant is a must try!!

Although we haven't yet eaten at Hudson & Essex, my husband and I experienced wonderful customer service from Sean, the manager. We stopped in Sunday on our way home from Canton to Cbus and even though serving hours were over, Sean gave us a personal tour of the restaurant, winery and caverns. It was absolutely beautiful and he knew everything about the history of the space. It completely made my husband's day! We'll definitely make a trip to Mansfield for a meal after receiving such a warm welcome just for stopping by!

Very nice place. The staff was very nice, attentive, and reassuring after one of us spilled coke on the table and floor. Also, I'm a very picky eater. Server was attentive to my requests except for the garnish that fortunately didn't affect my Burger. (Pickle spear) and the burger was just right, no seasoning, no condiments. I was a happy customer.

Food was good, service was good, atmosphere was good. I enjoyed the small shareable portions to try new things. I also like the fact that they have a deli upstairs where you can buy the same cuts of meat and seafood to take home and make for dinner. This place was comparable to any great restaurant you would find in the bigger cities and prices were fair as well. They even had live music in the winery. We will definitely be back.

The food and service were both fantastic, and the small plates worked nicely for my wife and me. We split the grilled caesar salad, 4 oz. fillet, blackened salmon, and scallop. Each was prepared perfectly. The three proteins really stood out as the chefs created delicious flavors for each that were different than most typical sauces. As she regularly does, my wife ordered the creme brulee and she proclaimed that it was the best that she has ever had -- no small feat or compliment! I had the blueberry bread pudding and devoured every bit. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice, the service was great, and we were even treated to a 10-minute casual tableside chat with the owner. The prices were very reasonable, especially when the quality of the food is considered. A "must eat" dining experience for anyone in or traveling through Mansfield.

Our party had a great experience here! Classy but not unwelcoming, we saw folks dressed up and somewhat causal. My Dark Walnut Old Fashioned was the best I've had. We all enjoyed our food and will be back to try their outdoor patio. You will pay for your experience here, my bride and I racked up a ticket of $163 which included an appetizer, drinks, 2 meals and mandatory 20% tip. We were celebrating a birthday in our group so we didn't mind. Get dressed up and enjoy a nice night out. We all agreed live music would have made our experience even better.

Delicious! What a gem. We were there for lunch and it was very nice upfront. I can’t wait to get back and have dinner. The dining room looks great.

Did I mention the smells? You walk in there and it’s like landing in Italy….unreal!

Stopped in for a late lunch while in Mansfield from out of town. What a nice experience! The food and service lived up to the great reviews. Our server Tiffany D. was friendly and helpful. The Japanese fried chicken was delicious, and they were able to serve my salmon dish with less spice upon request when i ordered, as items are cooked to order. Decadent German chocolate cake finished the meal. Would definitely return!

Food and drinks are great here, atmosphere is amazing! But the main reason for this review is a shout out to the most amazing and awesome waitress that we’ve ever had. We don’t know her personally, but as a waitress if you want excellent top notch customer service, ask for Miranda!!!

My wife and I got to finally experience this place and the food and it was not a disappointment! The price is on par with it's excellent portions and quality. I had the Walleye burger, and my wife had the Hudson Burger both of us having added the fries.

The hostess and our waitress were friendly and extremely attentive.

This is a wonderful restaurant. We made reservations for a different time than when we actually arrived and they accommodated us even though they were busy.
The atmosphere is very nice, the staff are very nice and polite.
The food was amazing. Flavorful, the price is what we expected for what we were looking for. Thank you for a wonderful visit. Hope to visit again.

Love this quaint restaurant we found while visiting Mansfield. We stopped in for lunch and had their wonderful Caesar salad, Cheese/egg bread, Charcuterie board, Scallops, Ribeye, and Lobster Mac. Everything was really good but I would recommend the board and Ribeye above all. We will definitely be back.

The food was incredible. Wine list was unique, with many different options for different budgets, and everyone had a thorough knowledge of the house wines and how to pair them. The holiday specials were also fantastic. Each person that spoke with us and other customers from the owner to the wait staff was friendly, accommodating, and helpful. I would definitely recommend this dining experience.

Very well done. The wines are really outstanding and they can range in selection. The food is expertly crafted and the atmosphere is wonderful. Mansfield has had some hard times but the downtown stages a picture perfect revival+ and this location ties it all together with its superior attention to detail. I’d drive an hour for an experience here and I do. Sidney is an outstanding server and I would recommend you request her.

Great dining experience. Georgian Egg and Cheese bread was perfect, favorite dish of the night. The house flatbread was tasty, although I thought the rosemary was a little overpowering. Not a huge fan of the fried stuffed olives. The scallops were cooked to perfection with great flavor. The filet was okay, a little tough but the flavor was good, the potatoes that came with the filet were incredible. The lobster mac was very good as well. Overall 5/5, great hospitality and the owners made rounds and greeted the guests. Definitely coming back!

Attended a wedding reception here. Loved the food, ambience and the friendly staff. Chicken kebabs were great (not sure if they are on regular menu). They even served tasty vegan dishes for my daughter.

The restaurant was beautiful. Service was great and meal was absolutely delicious! The charcuterie board was phenomenal!! Specialty Aphrodite cocktail for Valentine's Day was divine! Perfect for brunch! Definitely recommend eating here!

Food and atmosphere was great. Our server Angie Sams was very knowledgeable and very attentive to our needs, we thoroughly enjoyed her. Overall, great experience.
