MTR Guns and Ammo

Owners and staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Range is state of the art and easy to use. They offer a ton of classes. Took part in a Couples Class run by Armed and Ready (armedandready.us) which was excellent! Small group, only 4 couples. Instructors were attentive and informative. They were thorough with their instruction and made the class super fun. Would highly recommend!

Regarding my private training with Steve at MTR:

We had first been introduced during the NRA Basic Pistol course, which he instructed, and he had recently helped me square away requirements for progressing with my career as an Armed Security Officer.

During this time I was actually familiarizing myself with a new platform, only having fired a few hundreds with it since buying it a week prior. However, I felt comfortable with it; and that comfort only grew through that initial exposure, in no small part thanks to Steve.

As this was our second meeting, and our first private lesson, we did the obvious thing; talked. We found out how we've been since, had a laugh, and he asked what I was hoping to take away from our time training. This allowed him to rapidly form a plan of action to help me not only further my goals, but help isolate the skills I was hoping to develop.

The next obvious thing was to establish a baseline. From a compressed ready, we worked through foundations with grip, trigger control, sight alignment, posture.

This is where he was able to help start isolating errors I was making; He pointed out that I was squatting into my presentation, and not only wasting time on the presentation, but inducing errors and exerting more energy than I required.

Now that we warmed up, we progressed to intermediate skills. We incorporated malfunctions, and this is where I had the most fun. I wasn't even here for this particular skill set, but I had an absolute blast having to think through each malfunctions as they arose. Type I and Type II, and sometimes a II then I, then an extra I, and... maybe an extra II for giggles...

With these foundational skillsets secured we moved into the meat of the lesson... And well, you'll just have to book an hour (or two) to find out!

Great family owned gun shop Bob and his son are excellent. They have a decent inventory on site and if they don't have it they don't mind processing a transfer from an online purchase. Very professional and willing to help new gun buyers.
