The kids and I were staying across the street and decided to walk over to get some coffee and maybe some hot chocolate. We were surprised to find a nice little cafe with an extensive, full menu. The kids had french toast sticks, which they loved, and I had an amazing spinach and feta omelette! These were just a fraction of the breakfast options. Lunch/Dinner items sounded amazing as well. The owner was very pleasant and explained they also offered room service which is something the resort itself doesn't even do. It's nice to have a independent restaurant that offers something different on the mountain. I plan on stopping by every time we come up to Wintergreen.

I have to give credit where credit it due. Weeks ago they reopened with a new owner and new menu. My family now has been in there every time we come up, and even had some breakfast room service, they do delivery to your doorstep. The new menu from what we've had and coffee is very tasty. Everything but the kids menu is a bit pricey but still cheaper than any restaurant at the resort or down below. The smoked salmon baked gouda melt is my absolute favorite, delicious. Four cheese Breakfast Burrito and Spinach and Feta Omelet for breakfast are really good. So is the carrot ginger bisque. My husband loves the BBQ, the Bacon Angus Burger, and breakfast bacon egg and cheese croissant. Kids like the chicken quesadilla, Bear club, and french toast sticks. And I 've had the white chocolate mocha and Salted Caramel latte, I noticed the machine they use is the same one in Starbucks, and both were delicious. It's a great spot to go up here and quicker than having to walk all the way in the cold to the mountain restaurants.

The only place we are using to buy food on the mountain from now on. We went to wintergreen resort for our third time on this weekend and stayed for three days, for some reason this was the first time we found out about Black Bear, and we only found out about it on the second day because it was close to our place. It's a cozy place near the Spa and the Highlands lift that could use some more marketing. The whole experience was very good. We went to black bear at 7 am to get coffees, hot chocolates and breakfast for the wife and kids and were pleasantly surprised to find a market inside the café where we could re-stock on some things we forgot to bring for the trip. Their menu was surprisingly big for a café, they have options for both breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also informed us they could deliver both to our place and to the spa (until 9 PM)! Later that day we asked for lunch there (In the pool), while the kids were skiing, and had a really good time overall. They're actually cheaper than the places we used to eat (Coppermine and Edge), well, "cheap" for a place up the mountain anyways. The snow was very good too, so we plan to come back as soon as we can.

Most of the negative reviews seem to be for the Black Bear Cafe that no longer exist. Wintergreen Resort Services performs maintenance work on the mountain. I just had them install a WiFi thermostat in our condo. Chuck was incredibly professional, polite, and knowledgeable. I will definitely continue to use them in the future.

Resort Services are fantastic! As a homeowner, I appreciate their hard work in assuring that all safety (smoke alarms) equipment is working properly and that water and related breakers are turned off as a preventative measure!
Thank you!! Keep up the great work on these and the many other tasks that you do to make Wintergreen awesome!!!

Last Sunday night they snapped into action to help us with a mechanical problem at our condo. Someone came over within fifteen minutes and fixed it allowing us to go about our business. We really appreciate the attitude and the help.

We stopped in for breakfast yesterday - to what was once one of our favorite, spots to grab a quick, reasonably-priced (for Wintergreen) and usually delicious meal. Walking into we realized that something radical had changed. Instead of a cozy, coffee shop-vibe, mountaintop eatery, we found an establishment that has lost it's identity. We saw large beverage coolers (six of them) with soda cans and power drinks. Two when you walk in, three propped up on an aluminum utility room organizer and one on the countertop. There were four industrial-grey, metal racks with off-brand groceries against one wall. Everything from cans of soup, to dog food, to bleach - on display feet from dining tables. Speaker wires hung carelessly behind the cashier, dropping down with connectors, and cables. The flat-screen TV was not operational - but a few Wintergreen flyers had been taped to the screen. A child's pack-n-play, in the far corner, half-collapsed. ... We learned that new ownership took over in October 2016.... Prices have been increased and portions have shrunk. The breakfast platters once were large servings, with healthy sides of fresh fruit. My breakfast burrito was served in a green, spinach sandwich wrap. My guest ordered bacon, egg and cheese on biscuit. The presentation tried to look gourmet, but the result was well short. Only too floppy slices of kiwi and apple garnished the plate. The food really wasn't good. We're not sure if it was the quality of the ingredients or if there was budget bought biscuits and meats. ... Those of you who remember the great smoked foods will be sad to learn that is no more. The staffer - who was excellent I should add - shared that it was apparently a violation of heath services to smoke on premises. ...Essentially this is a confused, convenience store, coffee bar, groceries, daycare. I hope new ownership can right the ship and bring the Black Bear back to what once made it so special.

SO disheartening what this new owner has done to what used to be a lovely, clean, quaint Cafe. Upon walking into the cafe the layout is that of a gas station convenience store. Products are haphazardly placed around the "cafe" and makes the atmosphere feel that of a gas station store. The cafe itself has to be in violation of health codes due to the overall filth of the tables, chairs, floors and food prep areas. Aside from the overall uncleanliness there is a dirty baby's play pin in the corner taking up much needed space for a otherwise cramped and cluttered cafe. I assumed the play pin was for customers use but was shocked to find the owner uses the cafe a a living room for her own family. The gentleman working the cash register wore headphones while I was trying to place my order and took over 30 minutes to get my food even though I was the ONLY customer in the store. The BBQ sandwich I ordered was cold and otherwise disappointing. My advice to management is to CLEAN your cafe so people feel comfortable eating there, get RID of the "convenience store" and return this space to the once lovely and relaxing space it once was.

I would simply stay away from this place. Owner was extremely rude. We ordered 4 turkey sandwhiches to go in which we waited 45 minutes. All 4 sandwhiches were made wrong after we received. In the 45 minutes of waiting, customers were constantly returning wrong orders. Owner was yelling at his staff in front of customers, even though he should have realized he was just making the situation worse himself. I will not be back.

Terrible food and extremely poor service...waited over and hour. Way overpriced. Avoid!
