This looks like a wonderful place to get away. It looks like a great place to kayak, hike, and go biking. We seen an alligator, an owl, and other small animals. We took a short hike .75 miles. It was nice and the boardwalk was great.

Fantastic wildlife. Saw 40+ alligators on a boat ride, along with several unique types of birds. Walking around the campground, we saw deer every day along with a few owls. We visited in the middle of August, so temperatures were scorching during the heat of the day, but on a 4 day trip, we only had one encounter with a yellow fly. Bugs were almost a non issue in the heat. The reflections of trees on the black water are incredible.

Great place to go for a peaceful camp out. They also have cabins you can rent also if camping isn’t your thing. If you have a national park pass you can use it here too. Quiet campsites , not a party place so won’t be losing sleep with loud neighbors.

Swamp is beautiful. Highly recommend taking tour. Did not see much wildlife on a cool January day.

If you're looking for a peaceful, scenic getaway, then this is the perfect place! No cell service, so if you're tied to the internet or need to be close to your phone, then this isn't the place for you.

It's a nature lovers paradise. Lots of wide and well maintained trails. Boat tour is awesome with a lot of information about the swamp. Plenty of wildlife roaming around. Clear night skies are great for stargazing. Campsites are very private and well maintained. Only downside is no phone service. Highly recommend.

Went for a little winter weekend camping and Stephen C Foster State Park was such a great choice! The facilities are super clean, the campsites are great, and the staff is friendly.

Plus, it's amazingly dark. The night sky here is lovely.

I went in January so the bugs were minimal which was great for myself and my two dogs. But do be aware there's a lot of wildlife...foxes, gators, bears, and more, so keep the pups close and tethered.

I highly recommend bringing or renting a kayak. The swamp is beautiful without much of a current.

What an AMAZING place!
After trying to convince my wife to go to the swamp for years, she finally relented. She is ready to go back already. We camped for a week and extended for another day.
The guided boat trip was fun and the boat captain was knowledgeable and entertaining. We just had to rent a boat for ourselves and head over to Billy's Island. It was worth the time and provided historical context to the swamp logging in the early 20th century. The hiking was limited (due to the swap) but really great.
The people at the trading post were very friendly and helpful. This park is well off the beaten path and a long way from many modern conveniences like cell service & restaurants. No sweat, just come prepared.

We had a fabulous time. Alex treated us well and gave us an amazing tour on the swamp and taught us so many different things. We absolutely loved every part of the experience. The cabins were nice and clean and we even got to see some gators and go stargazing.

If you want to get away from civilization, and truly experience the Okefenokee Swamp, this is the place to go. The camping area is nicely spaced and very quiet. Due to weather we did not get to experience the dark night sky. The boat trip from the park store was very good and informative.

This is a great place for a change of pace. It is unique in many ways, with beautiful scenery, and wildlife to enjoy. The staff at the park are friendly, make a real effort to assist where needed and have a strong focus on visitors enjoying their stay. We rented a cabin and found it to be clean, comfortable and adequately appointed. We took the boat tour and rented a boat on our own. Both outings provided great views of birds, alligators and vistas across the landscape. We left the area relaxed and ready for a new adventure!

The park was a nice get away. The comfort stations were some of the cleanest and nicest to use. Amazing trails to hike and perfect for if you bring your dog. We saw five dear on our two night stay. Our camp site was clean easy to find.
I will add that some of the camp sites are very close to each other so be prepared to hear everything your camp neighbors are saying. I will also add that in our camp site number 11 all of our tent stakes got destroyed because the ground is so hard or a layer of rock is under it. Our stakes were not flimsy cheap ones either, so this was a shock to say the least.
In all we had a great time. Be sure you have everything you need before you head out because this place is far out in the middle of nowhere.

This is one of our favorite places to camp.
We have become regulars here.
Steven C Foster is known for being completely dark at night and attracts a lot of astronomers. If you have a telescope, bring it. Non full moon nights are the best.
The other big attraction is the swamp. You can rent kayaks, canoes and John boats to go adventuring. The swamp is full of wildlife and lots of alligators. There's an island to go exploring and swamp boat trails that are fun to navigate with jaw-dropping views of cypress trees towering over you.
If you're not into navigating the swap yourse, f there is a boat tour you go on. Check with the camp store for times.
Wild life around the swamp and camp are plentif, l consisting see deer, turkeys, foxes, bear owls, alligators and more. The chances of seeing wildlife is extremely high. We see most of that list on every visit.
There is also a dam that attracts lots of fishermen and has a nice hicking trail off of it.

The campsite bathroom and showers are extremely clean and there is a landry room as well. Note that there are no sewer hookups.  The canp store has firewood and ice and a few other basic needs.
There are cabins that you can rent as well. Be  warned there are two sets of cabins, one next to all of the attractions i spoke of, including the campgrounds and another outside the gate. There are two gates 6 miles apart that lock at 10 PM and stay locked until morning so plan accordingly when making your reservations, especially with a group.
Also, not the time of year when making a reservation. This is a swamp! Yellow flies have been known to come in storms in the hotter months. I would recommend cooler moth planning to avoid the bugs and insects.
I can't say enough about this place other tthan I highly recommend visiting.

Wow. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff here. Bryan and Joseph were extremely helpful this morning as I was trying to get my camper van started. They were patient and kind and good-humored while I flummoxed my way through a rudimentary problem. The park itself is beautiful and well worth at least one night stay. The campground facilities are well-maintained and very quiet.

Loved this park! Quinten was our boat tour guide and he was amazing. He really loves his job and made the tour so entertaining. We camped at the primitive campground and had an RV spot. I cannot get over how beautiful the nighttime sky was. It’s our scout pack’s favorite place to camp.

Beautiful park! We really enjoyed our stay in the campground. Sites are pretty close together but luckily we didn’t have many neighbors since we went during the week. Showers are hot and clean! No Verizon cell service majority of our time! Great nature trails and even saw an alligator in the marina!

A great little park! The campsites were well laid out, all the staff was very friendly, and our tour guide (Josh) was very knowledgeable. The bath houses were nice and handicap accessible. We surprised a bear on the boardwalk and saw a ton of alligators and other wildlife out of the water. The camping/recreation area is small but it gives you access to the whole Okefenokee. The best part is absolutely the stargazing! It was my first time seeing satellites pass by and even park of the Milky Way with the naked eye! I definitely recommend this one.

Stephen C. Foster State Park is a beautiful area out in the middle of nowhere in the Okefenokee Swamp! Miles and miles off the main road from Fargo, GA you’ll come across the visitor center. From there, you can get a map, purchase items from their gift shop from local Georgia sellers, begin a short walk, or take out your boat and explore! There are tons of activities to do here at the park, but one thing to be aware of is SPIDERS! When I visited, they were everywhere!! Look where you’re walking or else you might walk face-first into a huge spiderweb…

I went on the little walk down the boardwalk from the visitor center. I was fortunate enough to see a deer super close - you might as well if you visit! It was a beautiful walk through the flooding swampland, and it was neat to come all the way to the end where the boardwalk was just gone. It really looked like you walk to the edge of nowhere!

Be careful for alligators - when I was there, I wasn’t paying attention while taking a video, and when I turned around I saw an alligator VERY close to me - maybe 10-15 feet. He was swimming to the shoreline and was almost ashore before I started yelling to make him go away. That could’ve been bad. Keep a good eye on your dog or kids!

All in all, it’s a great place to visit if you’re already in the area. It’s one of those places you need to go to once because it’s literally at the end of the road in the middle of nowhere, and it’s just cool to tell people you went all the way there on the map!

Very clean and well maintained sites. Our nights were very quiet. Great place to star gaze with a new moon. Tons of wildlife to see. Bring kayaks! Waterways easy to navigate. Paths are very well marked and clear. Comfort Station is awesome.
