Dutchtown Elementary School

The Principle is so friendly and warm and at the same time she is professional and I could see from speaking with her, just how much she cares about the children. I was very impressed woth the kindness of the entire staff and the upkeep of the school.

DES is a great school to go to teacher teach.

I would not recommend this school at all, They lied to us that the academic courses would be the best for our child from grades 9th thru 12th as it would prepare them better for college, every year we listened to how we would thank her, the principle for placing our child in the academic courses. Upon graduation, we found out that the diploma received was actually bogus because HOPE deducted 10% off the B+ diploma received bringing it lower than the 3.0 GPA needed at the time.

My child did not receive the HOPE scholarship, Oh by the way 3 weeks after graduation- Yes we did go back to the Dutchtown HS to thank the principal personally- The principal could not provide an accurate response on how the GPA calculations are even figured out other than someone inputs information into the computer, and who? only god knows.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PLACING A CHILD IN THE ACADEMIC COURSES during the 9th Thru 12th Grade, as these are the years that are calculated on all scholarships, My opinion is to keep them in regular classes to receive a higher grade.
