Shayna Santos Upchurch, MD

She is one of the best PCP's I have had and I've referred several friends to her. I'm a physician myself and trust her with my family's care. Aside from small minor miscommunications, I've had a good experience with her staff and they respond in a timely manner.

Dr. Upchurch is hands down the best doctor I’ve ever had. She listens to me, is attentive, has grab bed side manner, and is very thorough. I drive from Katy to see her. The rest of the staff is amazing too. 10/10!!

Dr. Upchurch is phenomenal! And so is all of her staff! She listened to all of my concerns with a lot of patience and kindness. Both physical and mental health is important to her. I’ve always been nervous to see a doctor until I met her. She has put me at ease after every visit. Her staff is diligent and efficient. They show compassion to the patients just like Dr. Upchurch. This should have been written a long time ago! Dr Upchurch is not only the best doctor I have ever met, but she’s the only doctor who takes the time to listen to your concerns, and make the best decisions for the patients care. When young and disabled, you never know which doctor may treat you dIfferently; this is why I take choosing my doctors very seriously.

When arriving to Dr Upchurch, she was the first doctor, to show genuine concern for my health. Since birth my family has dealt with many health issues, always switching and searching for the best. Dr Upchurch is that, THE BEST! I write this with full confidence, not only does she exemplify excellence with her knowledge, and decision making; she is the only doctor I have met, who shows genuine concern for your disability.

Dr Upchurch was recommended to me by a trusted friend, life long Houstonian. Dr Upchurch lives up to her top reviews, from my friend and all that I read. She always put me at ease during my exams. I moved to Virginia this winter and needed a doctor’s reference to get into physical therapy here. I contacted Dr Upchurch through MyChart and got a very quick response, that day even. She agreed to fax her referral and did so immediately through her excellent assistant, Dora. Her quick action got me on the list for physical therapy within a day. Bottom line: Dr Upchurch knows and cares about her patients. Her care really exceeds that of any doctor I’ve had in the last 20 years. I highly recommend her to you. I have been seeing Dr. Upchurch and every time I see her she is very pleasant, she takes the time necessary to listen to my concerns and she truly understands what I go through and genuinely cares about her patients. We need more medical providers that are open minded, caring and understanding like Dr. Unchurch. I feel so lucky that, I found such a great doctor.

Dr Upchurch is an amazing doctor! She is thorough and caring. Never in a rush. She genuinely cares about my concerns and address my medical needs which makes me feel at ease.

I don't want to praise Dr. Upchurch too highly because I want to keep her for myself. Seriously, she is outstanding. I am over 80 years old and have accumulated a number of issues. She addressed all of them, does not quit and took all the time needed. Needless to say, Dr. UP is an extraordinary Dr.and caring person.

I will never have another primary care doctor, at least as long as she is in practice. Her visits with me are impeccable. She is there to console me during our visits and listen to every concern. By far the best physician!

Cannot recommend Dr. Upchurch enough! I was so anxious for my appointment, but was quickly put at ease. She was kind, thorough and informative. Truly a wonderful doctor!

Dr. Upchurch is actually a saint. Like she came from the heavens above. I honestly don't know where I'd be without her. Solid 10/10.

She asked me about and listened to all my major concerns that I needed addressing. I didn't think she would take the time to answer all of my questions but she did and she did something about each one of them. Very kind woman, I'll return to her in the future.

I personally like Dr Upchurch but her staff is either poorly supervised, overworked, or totally incompetent. It takes forever for me to get medical records updated and phone calls returned. Had a fractured hip replaced in late February in Austin Texas and it took her office a month to get my medical records so I could get physical therapy which should have started immediately after the accident. But her staff was totally incompetent on getting the records and getting them posted. I'm still paying the price for that mistake today. And for the last straw I just received a rude message on my chart from a staff member. And when I called to see if the staff member could elaborate naturally they had taken off early which seems to be coming in that office. And after 3 weeks of them having my flu vaccination record for this year I had to call them and ask them repeatedly to post it to my chart. So I have now changed primary care physicians strictly because I do not like dealing with the office.

Your standard reply asked me to phone your office which I have done three times and each time I am put on hold and no one ever picks up. Why do you even bother asking me to call?

I've been going to the doctor for several years, and she's been thorough and patient about all my questions. However, I've been over charged twice, and it took a lot of time to fight with the billing and the doctor's office and was very frustrating. For that reason, I'm not going back to the doctor to save the headache.
