Although small this museum has great charm and some awesome things to see. My kids ages 6 and 11 absolutely loved it. The lady working when we went (I am so sorry I’m terrible with names) was very kind and knowledgeable, shared various interesting facts about Sonora and its history. They also have a nice boutique gift shop inside. I highly recommend stopping in !

Take the time to see this museum of the history of Sonora. They have numerous artifacts depicting the history of this small Texas town. Definitely recommend. The staff was knowledgeable and very nice. It is right off I-10 . Hope you spend an hour to view history.

Wonderfully curated museum showcasing Sutton County history. Chock-full of surprising old treasures, most of which feel like they were donated by local families. Everything is thoughtfully arranged. The management takes pride in their work and it shows. The docent, Jenny, is warm and uncommonly knowledgeable -- and when she didn't know the answer to one of our questions, she called up her friend to find out! We stayed longer than planned to tour the old jailhouse and it was well worthwhile. What we planned to be about a 30 minute stop turned into and hour and a half and was the highlight of our day.

We paid for the guided tour, and I am so glad I did. The ladies were so kind, silly, and knowledgeable. Great for our group that included children. It was a fun stop. The tour took about an hour, but you can do unguided if you don't have a lot of time.

Every time we visit Sonora we drop by and take the historical tour. We have had different guides. Each brings a different perspective to the history of the area. They have all been very invested in the stories they share.

We have visited this place with our kids. All of us loved the experience. The exposition was interesting. The kids loved doing scavenger hunt. You can feel that the hoas loves her job and she knows even the smalest details of the local history. She was very kind with kids. We have learned a lot.
Definitely recomend stopping here.

What a great little museum. Bunch of hands on stuff allowed for the kiddos. Kids sat up in an old carriage and loved it. Great 20 minute break on the way out to Big Bend.

Cool museum, you go to all three museum for 8 dollars. Well worth the price. The jail is quite interning they have a wall of heros for veterans. The Miers home is really interesting it is a talking house museum for who don't want a walk through. Over great time.

The museum is full of many wonderful things from the past that each have their own story, which can be told by the museum staff's telling on a guided tour. The best highlight of the guided tour was of the old jail, which held criminals and even has a ghost. You are sure to enjoy your time there while visiting.
