Pit Stop BBQ

This place was recommended to me from a lady across the way at another restaurant because I said I wanted barbecue.
I ordered a two meat plate with smoked turkey and sliced brisket, cream, corn, and potato salad. The cream corn was amazing. Probably one of the best I’ve had in the very very long time felt like homestyle cooking, which is very hard to find nowadays.
It’s definitely one of the best barbecue places I’ve been to the quality of meat was really tender smoked turkey was super soft. I highly recommend stopping at this location. The servers are very polite, very informative about answering my questions in regards to how the food was prepared and what kind of meat they use and where they get the meat from

This place is great! Best food along the highway since San Antonio. Best creamed corn I have ever had, the beans are great, and the pulled pork tacos are awesome. Friendly service, the staff checked on all of the customers from what I could tell. Definitely will be stopping back by on another trip, and will be telling all of my family in Texas. Staff here is super friendly and patient! The food here is amazing. I got the brisket and ribs and both with fatty but not too fatty it was a good balance and had a lot of flavor. I also got the baked potato which for some reason was just so delicious, it was big and cooked perfectly and complimented the meat well when paired together. Great place to stop and get some food if you’re making a drive by!

Solid barbecue, perfect traditional potato salad! Great sauce not too sweet or spicy. And a super awesome staff and service! Definitely stop here for lunch or dinner on your way through town.

Me and my partner are drivers for UPS and finding good food while driving over the road is rare with that being said we both would highly recommend this quaint but unique find right off the interstate. The food was amazing the service excellent and atmosphere pleasant and very clean. Both of us regret not getting desserts because the food was so good and generous portions. Plenty of parking for cars and limited semi parking.

Before heading back to Fredericksburg, searched for “lunch, open” and selected “The Pit Stop.” Said hi to customer just leaving who said he was “full & happy.” We had the Combo Meat Nacho’s, Dublin Root Beer, Pecan Cobbler & Banana Pudding - ALL EXCELLENT.

An very unassuming place on first arrival. Inside is tiny and equally low key but clean, very rustic and western in feel. They may by small in structure but they are big on service and flavor and portions. I got the 3 meat plate with 2 sides. I opted for turkey, brisket, pulled pork, tater salad, and pineapple coleslaw. All of it was great! Nothing average or bad at all. Brisket was very tender and moist. Turkey was also very tender which I love with smoked white meat, flavor with texture both on point. The pulled pork was lean, proper salted (not overkill as many often are) and equally flavorful, melt in your mouth tasty. The slaw with pineapple was a first for me and I tell ya, I like it this way! The banana pudding is one of the top 3 I have had in Texas as well. The 3 staffers here are young, kind, helpful and friendly. I will come back here for lunch 'pit stops' any time I am passing through for sure. You should too!

Absolutely LOVED the coleslaw with pineapple! Brisket and sausage sandwich also delicious. Creamed corn had a good flavor but was a bit cold. I would have loved to tried the banana pudding dessert but received the oreo dessert by mistake. It was tasty but not what I wanted.

Excellent pulled pork taco plate with a small soda, $13.68.
Tacos were great, and had slaw, sauce and jalapeños.
The creamed corn was amazing. The beans were great too.
Very friendly service. Small indoor seating area but huge outdoor seating.

The best smoked turkey and brisket! You have to try the cream corn as well! We got some banana pudding to go and it was absolutely delicious!! We were passing through from FL but we will definitely be back! Staff is absolutely amazing as well!!!

We made a "Pit Stop" here for a quick meal and it was an excellently delicious decision. If you are coming to Sonora, come hungry. You won't be disappointed 😊. There is something special about these pinto beans, too!

No need for a lengthy review here. You want 5 star West Texas BBQ? This is the place for you. Brisket: Mouthwatering. Turkey: Succulent. Cream Corn: probably the best thing I’ve ever eaten.

Everything was delicious! Beans, potato salad 😋 coleslaw with pineapple is divine...creamed corn-wow! Brisket, sausage-🤩 and I got the new smoked chicken tacos 💯💥

Awesome BBQ. Great selection. I had the chopped brisket, son got smoked chicken, wife got pulled pork. All great. I’ve been to a lot of bbq places, and this one does a great job and one of the best. The staff was super patient with me as I took forever ordering. Also, I’m pretty sure the owner or manager was helping train a new person and just the level of respect and professionalism was great to see.
I’ll be stopping by again next time I’m road tripping through!

Stopped by for lunch and got the pulled pork sandwich with sausage, queso, and pico along with a side of potato salad and beans. The sandwich was pretty dang good. A perfect mess! The beans and potato salad both needed a little salt but we're otherwise pretty good. A buddy had the brisket and said it was good as well. I'd definitely come back again.

Service: It was phenomenal. Very friendly 2 person staff. They definitely seemed to care about their customers and quality of food.
Food: OMG, very moist, flavorful, and mouth watering.
We ordered Two 3 meat combination plates with baked potato for a side. The potato was soft and lots of toppings with real crispy bacon. We now know why the potato substitutes as 2 sides with the plate meal. It was a TX sized potato.
The brisket was thick but juicy and the touch of meat to marbling ratio was perfect.
The jalapeno cheese sausage was the right amount of heat and juicyness.
The ribs were fall off the bone.
The barbecue sauce was the right amount of sweet and savory.
This is a gem located about 1/2 mile off of I-10 in Sonora, TX.

The Pit Crew Nachos were absolutely fantastic!!! Packed with rich flavoured meat, cheese and pico de gallo. If you are passing by and looking for a place to eat you should definitely try this out! Came with my family from a vacation trip and everyone was extremely pleased with the food.

Best restaurant between el paso and San Antonio. Ribs are quite good, and the smoked turkey is not dry, moist and flavorful. Try the beans, potato salad and the cream corn. The sauce is delicious.

Me and my buddy were looking for barbecue while on a work trip. Believe me when i say, my thirst was very much quenched. Sandwich a little small, but was still so good, and satisfying. Ill be back if i ever come this way again. Good job guys.

The food was amazing. Real Texas BBQ and big portions. The service was very fast and the staff was friendly. It was a little messy but nothing to complain about.
