I’ve rarely ever been to a place where they get it all right — but this is one of those places. The food was fantastic and the service was even better.
I ordered the combination plate with ribs and shrimp. I got it with a baked sweet potato and it also came with coleslaw. I everything on the plate was absolutely delicious and prepared with care — including the coleslaw!!

This is the best BBQ restaurant in northern Alabama. Their white sauce is amazing on their chicken. The pulled pork is really good too. The hush puppies are also really good.

It has been years since we have stopped in here. What a mistake in not coming more often. The food is delicious and plentiful. We both got the combination plate with two meats. The meat fell off the bone on the ribs. The chicken was absolutely amazing. Ham is ham and never a complaint with it. The chicken livers were loved by my wife. Fries were crispy and the Cole slaw was perfect. The service was good and they are friendly. Just a good old bbq place that you don't get anymore elsewhere. High five to the hush puppies as well.

It's in my Opinion the Best BBQ in the North Alabama area, a great Homey experience in an old school setting. The staff are Great, The Food and Portions are phenomenal.
And they aren't just famous for BBQ, they have the best fried Catfish, Great tasting Seafood Options and THE BEST Hush Puppies You've ever put in your Mouth. Don't pass up on this little Small town Eatery.

While traveling we always like to try local places, and the Greenbrier Restaurant did not disappoint. First, they bring out complimentary hush puppies. Normally, I do not like hush puppies but these were delicious! I order chicken livers, slaw and a baked sweet potato, which was only $11 for the meal. My hubby had a burger and slaw. Both meals were excellent and service to match. We will definitely return if in the area!

Really Great food. Whether it's barbecue fried fish whether it's catfish does not matter it's all really good. Some of the nicest people you'll see in town. Some of the best food that you will put it in your mouth with hush puppies to boot.

Going to this restaurant feels like a time warp when you enter. It feels like a small town diner even though they are in Madison. The waitress greets you with a warm smile. Even though we were told they were short handed, you couldn't tell it. They start you with a basket of hush puppies that makes you forget all your troubles. The worst I can say is that I was about full when I got my plate. Not because of the wait, but because I had trouble putting the hushpuppies down. They serve your drinks in large cups and even though everything went up after Covid, they still only charge $2.00 for your drink. Loved my experience will definitely be back.

After our stop at Bucee's mom and I were hungry so, I thought she would enjoy Greenbrier. We used to eat here all the time after church when I lived in Madison, Al. We got there right before closing (which I felt really bad about). We felt very rushed, not that they made us feel this way but, we just felt like we needed to hurry so, they wouldn't be waiting on us to close! I got the chicken and a salad and mom got the fried shrimp. It was so good!! I didn't eat the hushpuppies (I have changed the way I'm eating) but, there was a time I would eat lots if hushpuppies with white sauce!

Still the best, after all these years. I love that they now have a wide selection of Hand pies for sale at the register. The blackberry is definitely my favorite, but they’re all good. The fried catfish fillets are probably the best in town, and don’t forget to get your free soft serve ice cream with any meal! I almost always forget, and then I’m sorry lol. The TVs are usually set to sports and weather so you don’t even have to ask them to turn off anything that puts you off your dinner, like news. :p

About 20 years ago I was introduced to Greenbrier barbecue and Alabama white sauce for the 1st time. This visit, due to logistics, was the 1st time I've been back since then and I must say, it's just as good now as it was then. I arrived for an early lunch and was promptly greeted by a server and sat down. Since it had been a while I wanted to try a sample of everything so I got the sample platter with pork and chicken. I was served hush puppies as an appetizer and there were a handful of sauces on the table to enjoy them with. Barbecue sauce, Alabama white sauce, tartar sauce and the ketchup. I'm not a huge fan of hush puppies so I'm usually pretty picky if I do eat them. These were tasty.. Light cooked very well and not greasy. The smoked chicken was beautiful. Perfect crispy skin, beautiful color and with the white sauce it was absolutely amazing. I would come here just for the chicken. Fries were golden and crispy perfectly done and the pulled pork was moist, tender and delicious. The location is only a few miles off the interstate but well worth the drive. I am a 100% sure it will not be as long before my next visit.

Wonderful comfort food. Large portions. The service was wonderful with a family feel. They were swamped and everyone had a big smile on their face. If something is around for 71 years, you know they’re doing something right! A must stop!

I ordered the large 3 fillet meal with a sweet tea and baked potato. Bring your appetite cause those hush puppies are so good, it's a challenge not to eat the whole basket! Friendly, quick service and the food was deeelicious! I would definitely eat here again.

I was last here about 30 years ago. Sorry it took so long to get back here but glad it was as good as I remembered. Delightful hushpuppies, whole catfish, baked sweet potatoes, a delicious sweet-sour slaw, finished with lemon meringue pie.

Nice little country restaurant that’s been here for years! I had ribs tonight, which were OK. Baked potato and hush puppies were yummy!! I had to get a to go order of the hush puppies. I’ve heard many people love the catfish here, although I can’t personally say I’ve tried it.

One of finest and oldest restaurants in the Huntsville area. Staff is always great and the food is beyond delicious. Best hushpuppies in three states and the Alabama white sauce is absolutely perfect! If you've never been there, it is more than worth it. I have eaten there for over 58 years and do my best to get there every chance I can. BTW the handmade onion rings are worth it at twice the price.

It's an institution and it deserves it. I can go there with my family of 4 and spend $50 and be well-fed with solid BBQ. The hushpuppies and white sauce are top notch. Kid's cheeseburger was large. Both kids feel it's one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches they've ever had. Soft serve add-on costs almost nothing and the kids love it.
My ribs were fantastic and my wife had fried shrimp that were cooked perfectly.
It's a pleasure to eat at a local family-owned place that has been around for a while.

This iconic BBQ & Catfish restaurant never fails to deliver. You get what you expect and that's very good bbq,fried Catfish, superb hushpuppies and friendly Alabama country hospitality. This used to be way out in the Limestone country cotton fields but now directly across from the massive Mazda Toyota auto plant. But what has not changed is the consistency of the food and service with a family vibe. Servings are big and tasty. BBQ pulled pork and the chicken with white sauce are very good. The fried Catfish is fried just right, not greasy. I enjoy both the whole fish and big fillets. The baked potato is just right and the slightly sweet vinegar slaw is tasty. Oh and the endless hushpuppies are famous 'round these parts!

Greenbrier is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is excellent, you will never leave hungry, and they provide great service.

We love going to Greenbrier Restaurant. The folks there really give you great service. You feel like they run as a team, and you're never waiting long for anything. If another server walks by your table, and your drink is low, they just take care of it.

The portions are really big, and I don't think we've ever eaten there without taking at least one box of leftovers with us. Their menu has some great options, so I never feel like I'm getting the same thing every time we go.

The prices are considerably lower than most other restaurants too. We can eat at Greenbrier for about 2/3's of the price we would pay at another restaurant. That's hard to beat when the food, portion size, and service are all excellent.

This place was great. The food was fantastic and instead of giving you bread to munch on like every other restaurant they gave you hush puppies, they were delicious! The place was clean and friendly and the tables was cleared and cleaned instantly when someone left.

This was my first time coming here and it was great! The free basket of hush puppies that are provided are the best I've had. I got the bbq pork plate with slaw and a sweet baked potato. Differently coming back to try other things on the menu.
