UPDATE: The cookies are great too! We love going here regularly for breakfast. You won’t regret the French toast! We always have great service here and great food. The staff are super accommodating on every trip we’ve made and we come here weekly; sometimes more than once in a week. We wish they had more space but we understand the building has its limits. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

I came here as a kid when this was Brown's. They still have the counter up front. I'm glad it didn't just shut down.
Food is good. The condiment tray on the table is kind of inconvenient being right in the middle, and it's hard to move out of the way. But still, great place.

This place had excellent food and service. The bread is homemade and really good. We will be back!

I love this diner/cafe, the waitress staff and the cook are great people. They take good care of you and always try to make sure you leave happy. I recommend soup of the day and half sandwich, the fresh baked cookies they sell at the register, and the special in-house BBQ sauce. Easily my favorite lunch spot for taste, budget, and feels comfortable.

Since moving back into town, we have had Don and Nancy’s multiple times for breakfast. We usually do take out and it is always done quickly and still hot by the time it gets home.

We also love the donuts 🍩!! Very fresh each time. But remember only available on Sunday.

Devin is always a great hostess and waitress the coffee is always hot and not too strong. Best gourmet breakfast choices at a mom and pop price. Just wish they served breakfast all day. Been visiting for the atmosphere and great food since they opened and will likely continue to be customers for many years to come.

Wish I would have taken a picture. If you have not tried this place you are missing out. Had the beer cheese soup and Philly grilled cheese. Fresh vegetables cooked perfect with perfectly cooked brisket on Texas toast grilled cheese. Couldn't stop eating it even though I was feeling full. The soup complemented the sandwich and other than the fact I added pepper as I do to everything it was spiced perfect. Thank you so much. Will return

I walk in for the first time ever during the spoon river drive. Probably the busiest day of the year.
I still got personal attention,plus a cheery attitude!
When it came to ordering. The magic words were spoken. "Would that be homemade bread,or store bought ?"
It was just a magnificent experience all the way around.
Even being very packed! The service was top notch.
The food was homemade and good quality.(home made)

Tried this place based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. Got the farmers plate. Bacon, toast and pancakes were good, but the eggs and fries potatoes were great!

Legit old school diner experience! The chef/owner is behind the scenes making everything from scratch and it shows. Breakfast or lunch, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're staying at the harvester hotel right down the street...make sure to start your day at Don and Nancy's.

The food was fantastic. Each dish that came to our table was so flavorful and made with best ingredients. They smoke their meat, hand cut fries, and bake the bread the grilled sandwich was on! Desserts can not be overlooked--. Good to share. We took a loaf of fresh baked rosemary garlic bread with us.

Very nice small town restaurant specializing in fresh ingredients. The hamburger is ground in house, the sausage is prepared in house, and the baked goods are in house also. Believe me you can taste the difference. The food is fresh and bursting with flavor. I tried the bacon apple cheddar sandwich and a cup of roasted red pepper tomato soup. Both were outstanding. The combination of flavors in the sandwich blended together masterfully and the freshly prepared soup was amazing. The service was prompt and friendly. Three different employees asked me how my meal was. The price was very reasonable for the quality you receive. I'll be back and I highly recommend you give Don and Nancy's a try.

Always a good place to eat. There is a wait sometimes, but it is worth it.

I love that this is a cafe, a very traditional cafe. Fresh baked goods greet you upon entering. Homemade frosted sugar cookies like grandma made. Fresh baked in house breads, giant homemade cinnamon rolls. We have enjoyed several breakfast items here. The heavenly french toast is just that. The brisket skillet breakfast is awesome. The hamburger and sausage are fresh ground in house too. We often go for a late breakfast and grab a lunch to go. The cheeseburger is the best I have ever had, with fresh cut fries made daily from real potatoes. The chicken sandwich with bacon lettuce tomato on fresh homemade bread is one my favorites for sure. They kept the orginal counter and bar stools so cool. Nearly everything else was remodeled nice atmosphere clean and fresh. Definitely worth a visit.
