Freda's Fish Fry & More

We purchased dinner on opening day. We called our order for take-out which was a Clam Strip basket, Perch basket, Chicken Taco, Beef Taco, Zuchinni Strips and Mushrooms. Prices were fair for the quality and amount served. Plenty of sauces provided to go with each item, the food was hot when picked up and everything tasted great. The mushrooms were large and juicy and the batter they use is fabulous. The staff were smiling and genuinely friendly on the phone and in person. There are a few tables to sit inside.

OMG so HAPPY to see her back in business! My husband LOVES her gizzards and I LOVE her mushrooms!! I think I drove about 24 miles round trip but well worth it!!

I was very pleased with the fried fish. Such a magnificent selection! The batter was very good and crispy. The cod I got was thick and flaky. This is one of those small town hidden gems. The atmosphere is super casual, best for takeout but they have tables and chairs if you wish to dine in- One of those places where you just dig in to your hot fried food and go on about your business.

Freda is awesome. Very good service and will go out of the way to help you enjoy your food and experience. We had a very large order and they were pretty quick. Gator was fantastic and a great selection on sauces.

Huge portions for a reasonable price. Had to wait for the food coma to pass before I could write this review. We had the lake perch and it was excellent. The fried mushrooms were good as well as was the portion size. Mushrooms are massive and the breading is quite good. Service was excellent given how busy they were. Very good experience.

The place is cozy just 4 tables so probably not a place to try to eat in with a large group at least in the winter. Not sure if there will be picnic tables outside in the summer or not. If not neither the state or county parks are that far.

Found this little spot online and after reading reviews decided to give it a try. I went to the location and placed my to-go order and it was ready in just over 15 min. Staff was very nice and food was amazing. We tried the catfish, onion rings, walleye, hush puppies, fried pickle spears and shrimp. If we are ever in the area again will definitely be coming back.

We stopped in to get a feel of this fish shack we have heard about and read the reviews on. Very few real authentic sea food fish shacks in the state of Michigan but let me tell you I don't need to find another after finding Freda's. The selection of fish and sea food was amazing, you can get anything from ocean perch to alligator or shrimp to walleye. I personally tackled the walleye today along with a few of their "Munchies" like the mushrooms, jalapeños bits and of course hush puppies. The fish walleye was cooked perfectly and munchies were fantastic. Their menu goes for days along with their specials and let me tell you the prices were fantastic given the portions!!!! Last but certainly not least I was able to purchase some fresh smelt to take home and batter myself. I am beyond please with this place and the hospitality of Freda and her staff.

I love this place. The staff is amazing and friendly. Amazing fresh fish fried right in front of you, and the homemade tarter sauce is great. If I had one complaint it would be the fries come underseasoned, but you can easily add some yourself. This is my favorite spot for takeout in the area for sure. 10/10 would recommend!

Ive only gone to this place twice so far, and honestly its the best fish place I've gone to. The portion sizes are excellent for their baskets. The workers are very friendly esspecially Freda. The seasonings that they use in their breading are phenomenal. Their seating is a little limited at the moment but, you can always call in and place an order for pickup to enjoy at home.I look forward to eating here again.

Freda's is great!! Awesome prices and a lot of food for that price!! We love the Lake Perch! Son loves the catfish! Check out their daily specials when you call too. Always some new goodies...and they just added specialty burgers to their menu. They also have mexican items!! Give them a try...you won't be disappointed!! We always have leftovers too!!

Our first time here, Awesome food, Great staff, good prices and good portions!! Everything we ordered was Outstanding! Gizzards, Cod and Cauliflower! The sauces found out, made fresh in house. Horsey sauce and tater sauce are amazing! So happy to have a place to finally get great food! Ready to try everything on the menu! Thank you! Wish I could guve ten stars!

As usual, the best! Always friendly and great service. Offer reward cards too -- punch each visit. $5 off order after 5 punches. We visit at least once a week in summer😋

Amazing food their portions are massive if staff is very friendly their local everything's from fish to even alligator the frog legs they come with their own sides. Food is not soaked in Greece!! One of the biggest wet burritos ever and it's amazing. Probably my new favorite spot on the lake. The take out with quick also.

Wow,this place is busy on a Friday evening! After getting our food I can see why. Prices are very reasonable and portions are really big. The menu has a lot of items to choose from. Mainly seafood lots of varied sides and the staff members were extremely friendly and helpful.

Stopped in for my lunch break today, looked at the menu and was amazed at all of the deliciousness they had to offer. The food was great and the portions were big! The owner came out and chatted with me and gave me a menu to take home for my wife to look at, so she can figure out what she wants when I bring her there for dinner.

Small mostly takeout place, great selection of fish and seafood, we had bluegills and walleye, very good, cooked to perfection, not greasy. Also they did not charge extra for dipping sauces, take what you need. They have Mexican and burgers also, we have not tried that yet. Definitely will be back

What a great little restaurant! Stopped in here on our day off, couldn’t be happier. Fish was perfectly cooked, salad was great, Gouda and bacon bites were awesome! Just make sure you map to Wayland, not Middleville some places have the address listed wrong.

We were just cutting throught Gun Lake today and passed Freda's. Turned around to give it a try for a late lunch . Had the regular fish n fries. WOW, perfect thin crunch batter, and not greasy! Pieces were cut like little Perch filets, easy to eat finger food. Fair prices with generous portions! Other items on menu will surprise you. Calamari??? I'll be back!

AMAZING FOOD, STAFF !!! 20 Stars! Elizabeth and Donovan are rock stars! I merely stopped in as I'm not local but I will make the drive in the future!! Soooo incredibly good and exceptional service!
