Ocean Village Bookstore

Please do not any one star reviews sway you from stopping by this quaint well stocked wonderful bookstore. You can walk out with a basket of books for as close to a penny as possible. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and can steer you in the right direction for recommendations no matter what kind of book you like. I love horror/thrillers, tales of revenge and redemption and have gotten many solid recommendations from the owner. I may be biased because I’m from Marshfield but this bookstore is simply a must for used book hunters.

My new favorite place. A wide variety of books on a lot of topics. I could spend all day in there browsing and probably never see all the books. The customer service was excellent ! Got a bag of books, hardcover and paperback, for around $20. Can’t wait to go back.

In recent years I’ve been spoiled by the used bookstores of western Mass and have struggled to find a comparable used bookstore on the south shore but Ocean Village Bookstore is an absolute gem. Owner is so very kind and knowledgeable, prices are the cheapest I’ve seen anywhere (cheaper than Saver’s! I once picked up 4 virtually brand-new hardcover fiction books for $14), and the selection is incredible. Even though the literature section is only a small portion of the store, I’m always able to walk out with a stack of books. Classics, contemporary fiction, translated works, books from indie presses, literary nonfiction, etc., etc. I don’t read much genre fiction (sci-fi, fantasy, horror, romance, etc.) or children’s/young adult but they have a wide, wide range of those options too. For a small, quaint store, they really have everything; looks are deceiving! If you haven’t been, you’re missing out!!

This place was absolutely great. It had a very nice selection and the prices were extremely reasonable. I left with several movies as well as a few books. The worker in the store today was kind, helpful, and informative. If I lived in Massachusetts this would be a regular stop for me.

I love this place! You can get a stack of books for a reasonable price. And Stacy who works there is the most wonderful person. She can tell you where any book is and always has a recommendation. You can tell she really loves what she does and is very devoted and that’s what makes this place so much more than just a bookstore.

Love this place. Very cheap books. Take my son there and get new books at least once a month (around 6 childrens books for like $3). A great non-profit business model towards people with developmental disabilities, also providing those same individuals the opportunity to work there and practice job skills. Cant say enough good things about this place 👍

Ocean Village Bookstore in Marshfield is a treasure to be discovered by all.I can always find a book I have been looking for. The manager, Stacey, is the best there is. She knows books!! It is a must to visit no matter where you live. Make the trip to Marshfield; it's really worth it.

Wonderful wonderful bookshop. Inviting, clean and well organized with very reasonable prices and extremely helpful staff. I also have started donating my books and CDs to this store because the proceeds go to a very worthy cause.

The manager is just the kindest and nicest bookstore manager! You will find great copies here and the prices are really fair!

This bookstore is the best kept secret on the South Shore! Not only do they have a great selection and fantastic prices, but the whole store supports a non-profit, Road to Responsibility. I highly recommend checking this place out!

The best little used bookstore, amazing staff and incredibly low prices. I wish I didn’t live so far away in NY, I’d be there every week if I was a local.

The used book selection is spotty. But good prices (better than most other used bookstores) and very nice staff.
