Foster's Hotel & Bar

Step back in time and stay in small cowboy feel rooms. We fell in love with this hotel and my wife loved the green chili they prepared in the restarunt. We will go out of out way to stay there again.

Reviewing the restaurant here as we never had a room. A group of four stopped by for lunch and we couldn't stop raving about the food. Everyone was going to order different items but I jumped in first with the order of a nice cold Blue Moon with a Burrito, Chicken and the red and green sauce.
It was generous amount of chicken in the burrito was a pleasant surprise. The chicken was an additional $2.00 but well worth it. I had the red and green chili on top and liked the green but loved the spicier red sauce. We’re here for another three days and plan on heading back tomorrow.
It’s so nice to visit a “non chain” restaurant and walk out wishing we had one near us.

They put Chama on the map……yeah, maybe the train helped a bit too!
Loved it.

I didn't stay at the hotel here, only had food from the restaurant sent over to the saloon next door. I had the Green Chile enchilada plate and oh yea it was good. The Saloon was busy but we didn't have to wait at all, we settled the bill at the end of the evening. Super good time here.

Check-in was easy with the friendly bartender. We had the evening meal in the bar and the meal was excellent. Much better than we expected. Rebecca is the cook and prepares every meal. I love Foster's restaurant! I have eaten several meals there and they never disappoint. I always bring any visiting relatives for a meal there. Everyone has been happy. Tonight my sister ordered ribs and couldn't stop raving about them. Thank you Foster's for many great meals!

Our party of 6 had dinner at Foster's. The food was excellent, the portions were plentiful and our waitress was truly terrific! She was attentive and truly generous. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The rooms need updating but their cleaning staff is top notch, thanks Connie! They also have tasty food, thanks Mark & Felecia! Then there's a cool old cowboy bar from the 1800's, with money stuck on the ceiling, a pool table, jukebox and usually some colorful locals to chat with and all rolled up with outstanding service, thanks Cameron, Phil and Michelle!

There were about 16 of us that ate lunch here. The food was awesome. Everyone loved it. I had the taco plate that came with sopapillas. It was so good. And they give you a lot of food. Very clean restaurant. I thought was reasonably priced. Can't wait to bring our friends here. Oh and i thought we all got our food in a very timely manner. Felicia was great.

Food is delicious, generous portions! Enjoyed the smothered burrito and the sopapillas. They are short-staffed, so pack your patience. I'm just glad they're open :)

Rooms are being upgraded, service is getting better And location is great can hear the trains returning in the evening 👍🏽😊

Delicious trout! A tiny restaurant in a tiny town. Everything was delicious! The salad bar was fresh. The mashed potatoes were real potatoes. The trout was fresh and perfectly cooked. The prices were extremely reasonable. The server was prompt and friendly. Definitely worth a stop.

Great family restaurant. Food was good. My wife loved the tacos.

Historic dining room. Lovely wood stove still heating it. The bar is separate, across the hallway. The food was great! I wish I could have stayed in the hotel and explored the place more.

Stopped in for a short break from the road trip. Had a couple very tasty margaritas. Only bar within 50 miles of this locale. Bartender and other patrons were very friendly.

Had a great meal. Ribeye steak, friend had pork chops. Great meal & service, salad bar fresh (yummy homemade potatoes salad), homemade dinner rolls & pie. A great value for a great meal.
We've also had delish breakfast there.

Haven't stayed in the motel, but we will soon. Food was the best juevos ranchero's I've eaten in a long time. We'll be back !

Awesome staff, friendly even under pressure. New Mexican menu is great, red chile very good, not bitter! Green chile was also great.

They have a wide variety of foods. From Burgers. ..Mexican foods...steaks...Alaskan king crab....sbrimp etc. Also a Bar built on next door. I had Mexican food tonight because I wanted to try the green chilies. Its was great.

We were in Chama, NM to ride on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, and we stopped at the historic FOSTER’S HOTEL BAR RESTAURANT (in business since 1881), right across from the railroad station. My wife and I each ordered a Half Breakfast Burrito, one grandson ordered the Hand-Held Breakfast Burrito (so he could take it with him), and the other ordered One Pancake with Bacon. OMG, the servings were Huge! Our half-burritos almost filled our plates, and were smothered with cheese and a tasty almost creamy green chile sauce – it was really scrumptious! The hand-held burrito was eagerly attacked and gobbled by our Cookie Monster, and the other youngster couldn’t believe his big thick pancake covered the entire dinner plate. Everything was mouth-watering delicious! Prices were very reasonable, and service was great: today, the owner Rebecca was present, and was super friendly and efficient at taking orders, delivering plates, and refilling our coffees! Both the restaurant and saloon retain the charming and nostalgic décor of days long ago, highlighted by the restaurant’s original wood-burning stove and giant wall mural. We certainly plan to come back – next time for Happy Hour at the well-stocked bar, then selecting from their huge dinner menu! Definitely a Must-Go for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and/or drinks!
