Very nice little campground. Bathrooms are individual (private)with toilet, sink and good mirrors . Showers are good also private. Dark sky areas. Lots of birds. Hiking trails. Tent sites down by the creek are great . Eletric and water sites seem to have the hookups on the wrong side for most camper trailers. Be sure to take extra long water hose and heavy duty extension cord if your cord is standard length.

Great little park! Camp hosts were so nice and informative and had coffee waiting! Park is way out of the way. I'm not sure I would go that far out of the way again, but for camping in a dark place to see the stars, it was super nice!

Such a good time. The park rangers helped us out with air in our tire because the closest service station is over 40 miles. If you can do the hike, do it!

Super clean flushing toilets and warm showers! Quiet, clean, peaceful campground.
Lots of cows and prairie dogs. Enjoyed our stay!

Really great state park that wasn’t very busy. Naked-eye stargazing was awe-inspiring! The shopkeeper was so kind and had great recommendations. We were able to get a site right across from the game/playground area and could allow the kids to wander without being out of site.

Just driving through and checking it out. Was not really for more hiking after the Black Mesa Trail and didn't bring any of our fishing gear. Defiantly want to come back and take the trail and kayak around the lake. Hope it get some rain the place look dry up when we look at it.

Very nice park. Best park rangers and employees of any of the state parks we have been to in OK.

This is one of the best State Parks in Oklahoma! The facilities are clean, the grounds are well kept, and the scenery and hiking trails are gorgeous, but the real draw is the one-of-a-kind night sky! Bring your camera and prepare to be amazed.

I should also note the ranger that was working at the visitor center was particularly nice and engaging with my kids. She gave them a nature scavenger hunt to complete, and when they turned them in at the end of our visit, she let them pick from some souvenirs. (stickers, keychains, etc.) The office itself was like a miniature zoo of local wildlife with live snakes, lizards and other critters on display.

I didn't love the six-hour drive from Stillwater, but this place was certainly worth the trip!

Beautiful little park. I originally passed through in order to reach the nature preserve where Oklahoma's high point trail is located, but had to stop and look at the petrified wood and bird trail. The area has gotten a lot of rain lately so it was gorgeous, wild flowers were everywhere. Great little pit stop. I didn't camp here, but next time I'm in the area I think I will. The camp ground was tidy and clean and had some really nice looking spots. The bathroom was not the scary park bathroom I'm used to seeing. Very clean and not a drop toilet either.

Clean facilities. They park ranger and camp host were wonderful. Loved the way they made their park educational. They supplied a ton of information on surrounding sites too. We loved the campground. Not alot of shade and be careful to read the description on the spot you pick they are atypical spots in places. We will come back and explore more! And try to time stargazing better instead of during the blue moon.

What a beautiful surprise! This park has such a unique beauty and feel! Our campsite, which included a covered picnic table, was immaculate. The park ranger was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The hosts were exceptionally courteous. We can’t wait to go again. This time, however, we will be better prepared for its remoteness.

Beautiful! Lots of trails with plenty to see. Not much wildlife out but did see a couple of foxes, lizards, butterflies, grasshoppers, crickets, and of course lots of cows grazing. Lake Etling is well stocked with fish, and it's just beautiful. Hope to come back soon.

We enjoyed our stay. Here is some info for those wanting to go. There is a cell tower near and we were able to use phones to watch YouTube. At&t. Bathrooms/showers were clean. I liked they were separate from each other so you had privacy. The shower had the handles low and hooks low and the door was wide enough for a wheelchair. No where to sit if in Wheelchair you would have to back out. No bugs in showers. Saw poison ivy but not in the main areas or campsites. New little convince store opening. Very nice people. The swimming area is very close and so beautiful. The camping area was very clean no litter. And yes, the stars are amazing!!

Wonderful campground with plenty of opportunities to go stargazing and hiking near the site. The restrooms are clean and the showers have hot water. We went tent camping and had shade to hammock under as well as a fire ring and grill. Perfect car camping experience at a dark sky site. If you are into astrophotography bring your camera!

My wife and I embarked on what could be called a crisis vacation. 14 days and 5 states starting from home here in Oklahoma. We wanted to end at Black Mesa and we went out of our way to get there! (Pro tip - drive in through Colorado on the dirt roads) We made camp 2 hours late but saw that the gods gifted us with firewood we didn't ask for. We kindly and gladly had a fire that fixed all the problems that happen from 14 days on the road. Thanks Black Mesa!

I’ve heard of the panhandle being flat and boring but didn’t expect this park to be this incredible. This place is well worth the drive. The canyons and dinosaur tracks near by are worth seeing. Extremely quiet and the stars are almost fake. Beautiful part of this state!

A beautiful state park. Has Oklahoma's highest point of Black Mesa, which is a 4.2 mile trail to get there. My experienced was reviewed on the Black Mesa page, but I also wanted to say that the campground here is very nice. Pitched my tent near the creek. Some sunny spots and some shady ones. Restrooms very clean. Nice lake to boat in as well. Be aware this is very remote, and you will have to drive about 30-40 miles to Boise City or Clayton NM for any amenities. You will not have a cell signal, and once you find service again, it will be shifting between Central and Mountain time. Highly recommended, though.

Spent one night here on a quick overnight. Didn’t get to hike or explore but the facilities were great and the stars were amazing!

Absolutely stunning! We camped during spring break which is apparently not the best weather but it was still a great trip. Hiking to the summit and being able to see the mountains of colo is an experience! Will be back again and again.
Be sure and take what you need...there is no store close.
